Four detained for allegedly gangraping class 12 tribal girl

In a shocking incident that has come to light, a class XII student was reportedly gangraped in Nashik district of Maharashtra by four persons.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Palsan area of Surgana tehsil where the girl, who was studying in an hostel for tribal girls.

The girl was reportedly harassed by the five accused on 23 December in the hostel after which they raped her.

The girl finally registered a police complaint at the Surgana police station after which the four accused men were detained. She was later taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Some reports indicated that the guardians of the girl had been pressurised to not reveal this case to the media by tribal welfare authorities because they feared it would tarnish the reputation of the hostel and its operations.
