Fire breaks out in BKC, brought under control

A fire broke out on the twelfth floor of the First International Financial Centre (FIFC) building in the Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai. Five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot.

The fire, which had begun at around 10.45am is now reportedly under control, and the building had been immediately evacuated. Surrounding buildings were also evacuated and no injuries have been reported.

Officials are now trying to assess the damage to the building, but indications are that all damage has been contained to the twelfth floor where the fire initially broke out.

The FIFC building was reportedly newly constructed and housed no offices. Refurbishment work had been going on.

There is still no indications on as to what caused the fire.
