Thane: About 100 differently-abled people today staged a day-long protest here demanding resignation of Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, whose NGO in Uttar Pradesh has been accused of misappropriating funds.
They staged a sit-in outside the Thane District Collectorate.
The agitators, including women, carried placards and shouted slogans against the Congress leader. A delegation of the Bruhan Maharashtra Apanga Vikas
Sanghatana, which organised the dharna, met the District Collector and submitted a memorandum putting forth their demands.
Niteen Sadhashiv Adsule, President of Thane district unit of the Sanghatana, said one of their main demand is that Khurshid should quit office forthwith for having played with the lives of crores of handicapped people in the country. He also demanded action against those who embezzled funds given to Khurshid’s UP-based charitable trust for welfare programmes for the disabled.
