Cyber cops block fake Thackeray Facebook accounts

by Dec 2, 2012

The cyber crime cell of the Mumbai crime branch has blocked two fake Facebook accounts created in the names of Raj Thackeray‘s two children, Urvashi and Amit, following a complaint by the MNS leader.

No case has been registered yet. “The matter is being investigated by the Cyber Crime Cell,” Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy told The Hindu.

The accounts had reportedly been used to post a number of offensive comments about Babasaheb Ambedkar and even Bal Thackeray, reported DNA.

The newspaper added that the Mumbai crime branch has sent a request to the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) about the fake accounts to help them trace the IP addresses of the computers on which the accounts were made.

The accounts had been noticed by MNS members who had brought them to the notice of Thackeray.
