DCW had earlier issued notices to CBI and Delhi Police seeking action taken report in the case. But the commission was not satisfied with the responses received prompting it to issue summonses. "Prima facie, this appears to be a shocking instance of alleged victimization and abetment of suicide of the family of an accused. DCW had sent a notice to the Director, CBI.

"However, no information was provided to the commission and it was informed that the matter is pending inquiry in the CBI," the summon issued on Wednesday read. "The reply was found to be unsatisfactory and inadequate. The commission then sent another notice seeking a detailed point-wise reply. However, till date no response was received neither any action was taken on the suicide note. Therefore, the AIG, CBI has been summoned to appear before the panel and provide the detailed reply," it added.

The commission said in a statement, "DCP East, Delhi Police was sent a notice to provide an action taken report in the case. The reply was found to be unsatisfactory and inadequate. Therefore he has been summoned to appear before the commission on 25 October to provide the detailed reply". Two months after his wife Satyabala and Neha committed suicide, Bansal, former Director General Corporate Affairs, and his son Yogesh had also allegedly hanged themselves on 27 September.

In their purported suicide note, Bansal had alleged that a CBI DIG, two women officers and a "fat" havaldar of the agency had tortured his wife and daughter to the extent that they ended their lives soon after his arrest on corruption charges in July.
