Mayawati, whose party was trounced by a resurgent Samajwadi Party in the assembly elections, did not show any signs of being upset when she met with with the Governor as she submitted her resignation.

The chief minister, apparently to avoid waiting news persons, chose to arrive from the back door of the Raj Bhawan.

After submitting the resignation letter she was expected to go the BSP party headquarters, meet with party officials and address a press conference, Times Now said.

The Governor is expected to invite the Samajwadi Party to form the government in the state and until then Mayawati is expected to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister.
