26/11 handler Jundal in ATS custody till 3 Oct in Nashik case

Nashik: The judicial magistrate’s court here today extended the police (ATS) custody of terror suspect and 26/11 handler Abu Jundal till 3 October. Jundal was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate A D Sawant amid tight security this morning.

Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar said the interrogation so far had elicited some information about Jundal’s links with terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Abu Jundal has been remanded in ATS custody till 3 October.

Jundal is in ATS custody here since 11 September, in connection with a 2010 case, where Maharashtra ATS had raided a house in Satpur near here and arrested Bilal Shaikh alias Lalbaba, an alleged LeT member, and seized RDX and some other explosives.

According to ATS, Bilal Shaikh and Himayat Baig, Pune’s German Bakery blast accused, had made a recee of Nashik’s Maharashtra Police Academy and Devlali cantonment area, to plan an attack. Jundal was party to this conspiracy, ATS says. Jundal was arrested at Delhi International Airport upon arrival from Saudi Arabia in June.
