Three policemen killed in UP road accident

Lucknow, Jan 1 (IANS) Three policemen, including an additional superintendent of police (ASP), were killed when a speeding truck rammed into their official vehicle in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district Tuesday, police said.

The accident took place early in the morning in the Chanwak region of Jaunpur, 220 km from here.

ASP-Chandauli Ram Chandra Yadav was going from Azamgarh to Chandauli after a day’s break on the New Year when the accident occurred. His gunner Rishi Raj Yadav was killed on the spot while the ASP and his driver died while being taken to hospital in Varanasi, officials told IANS.

The truck driver, who hit the car near the Gomti river bridge, has not been apprehended so far, the officials added.
