Policeman injured in militant attack

Srinagar: A policeman was injured today in a militant attack in Baramulla district town of north Kashmir, police said.

Constable Mushtaq Ahmad was hit by a bullet in the abdomen as militants opened fire on him in Baramulla town, 55 kms from Srinagar, a police spokesman said.

He said Ahmad was posted as personal security officer of a ruling National Conference office bearer who escaped unhurt in the attack.

Further details of the incident are awaited, the spokesman added.
