Will investigate vendetta cases if voted to power: Amarinder

Jan 19, 2012

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh said yesterday that an inquiry commission would be set up to investigate cases of vendetta irrespective of any party or position, if the Congress is voted to power.

Addressing a public meeting in Patti, he said inquiries will be conducted against those guilty even if they belong to the Akali Dal or are police officials. He reiterated that the Congress government will also improve the ‘aata-daal scheme’ by providing further subsidy to the poor.

He accused the Akali-BJP government of being corrupt and said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had achieved nothing during his terms.

Advising Badal to retire, he said, a man who cannot remember his own age cannot be expected to do any good to Punjab.

He promised better healthcare facilities and good quality education. He appealed to people to vote for the party candidate Harminder Singh Gill in the upcoming polls in January.
