Lucknow, Dec 27 (IANS) A wild elephant has destroyed a school building and a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, an official said Thursday.
The pachyderm reportedly slipped into the village in the district, 128 km from here, from the nearby Bhawanipur forest.
The elephant was first spotted Wednesday evening. It brought down the tin sheds of the village school and damaged a house.
The forest department has launched an operation to track the elephant and secure the area, an official said.
