Dusseldorf stun Hamburg in German Bundesliga

Berlin, Nov 24 (IANS) Newly promoted Dusseldorf ensured their first home win of the season thanks to goals by Robbie Kruse and substitute Stefan Reisinger in the opener of the 13th round of the German football team.

Both sides staged a slow start into the match Friday as Dusseldorf defended deep in their half to lurk for counters whereas Hamburg controlled the ball unable to overcome the home sides bulwark, reports Xinhua.

Things changed with the replacement of Hamburg’s key player Rafael van der Vaart, who suffered an injury before the break.

Dusseldorf’s Robbie Kruse made things worse for Hamburg when he utilised a through ball by Andreas Lambertz to score inside the near post in the dying minutes of the first half.

Hamburg were unable to respond to the opener in the second half, instead, the hosts sealed the deal in the 64th minute through Reisinger, who increased the lead with a solo run and goal.

Dusseldorf jump out of the relegation zone to take 13th position meanwhile Hamburg suffered their sixth loss of the season.
