Dibrugarh: One person was today killed and three seriously injured after CISF personnel opened fire to disperse irate labourers at the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited headquarters in Assam’s Dibrugarh district, police said. Some labourers got into an argument with CISF personnel, posted at the factory gates in Lepetkata, that led to a scuffle following which the labourers began pelting stones at the security persons, police said.[caption id=“attachment_232482” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“The BCPL site in Dibrugarh. Image courtesy BCPL”]  [/caption] CISF personnel opened fire to disperse the crowd and in the ensuing melee, four labourers were seriously injured and one of them died on way to hospital, they said. The labourers then staged a demonstration outside the factory gates and a police team later pacified the agitators, clearing the blockade. Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh, Arabinda Kalita said the situation has been brought under control but keeping in mind the prevailing tension, additional force has been deployed in the area. BCPL is a joint venture of GAIL, ONGC, Oil India Limited, Numaligarh Refinery Limited and Assam government. PTI
