Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner name son Samuel

Los Angeles: Hollywood couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who have become proud parents of a baby son, have named the newborn Samuel.

Though their two daughters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, were pushing for a Disney-themed moniker for their baby brother, when it came to naming the newest addition to their family, the couple opted for something more traditional, reported Us magazine.

“We are happy to announce on February 27, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Samuel Garner Affleck,” Affleck, 39, shared on Facebook.

Samuel, a Biblical name with Hebrew origins, translates to either “name of God” or “God has heard.” The name has also consistently ranked in the top 50 most popular boys’ names in the US, and was the 24th most popular choice for boys born in 2010.
