Akram Khan: Contemporary Dance in India

Sep 10, 2012

The British Council has just launched ‘impulse’ a season of UK contemporary dance. The season opens with and with, Akram Khan’s GNOSIS on Tuesday, 11 September, 7 p.m at St Andrews Auditorium Bandra.

After starring in the opening ceremony of London 2012, Akram Khan tours six Indian cities this September. Akram Khan Dance Company is unquestionably one of the greatest of UK contemporary dance companies: the astonishingly beautiful performance Gnosis is inspired by the Mahabharata, in particular the story of Gandhari, wife of the blind king who blindfolds herself for life to share his journey.
