Sameer Bashir Ahmad alias Sameer alias Dr Sam, a resident of Kabul in Afghanistan, was in India on a six-month tourist visa and was arrested on Saturday when he tried to come out of the terminal building through Gate no 8, police said.

When the CISF personnel posted at the gate asked him the reason for getting out of the terminal and wanted him to prove his identity, he showed the voter identity card of some other person and a cancelled ticket of Air India, they said.

Apprehending arrest, he tried to escape but was arrested by CISF personnel from the departure ramp by the quick response team at the airport.

Police has recovered two mobile phones from him.
