by Sep 9, 2012

Baghdad, Sep 9 (IANS) At least 30 people were wounded in a series of bomb attacks in Iraq’s Baquba city, Xinhua reported.

The coordinated attacks took place Saturday. Two roadside bombs went off almost simultaneously in al-Tahrir area in southern Baquba, 65 km from Baghdad, a police source told Xinhua.

Baquba is the capital of the eastern province of Diyala.

A third blast took place, when a bomb planted in a civilian car detonated in the same area.

Iraqi security forces rushed to the scene and defused a fourth bomb.

Diyala province, which stretches from the eastern edges of Baghdad to the Iranian border, has long been a stronghold of the Al Qaeda and other militant groups.
