Vocabulary as sound as a Sachin straight drive: Twitter slams BCCI's decision to leave Harsha Bhogle out of IPL 2016

The list of familiar names who will not be a part of the ninth season of Indian Premier League just had a new addition. The domestic Twenty20 extravaganza that kicked off on Saturday will not have the voice of commentator Harsha Bhogle calling the action.

According to a report in the Indian Express, Bhogle's contract for the IPL has been terminated and the commentator, who has been involved with the IPL since its inception, was told about his exclusion only a week ago and wasn't even provided with an explanation.

“No one told me anything. I have not been formally told of the reason even now. All I have been told is ‘it is a BCCI management decision’,” the report quoted Bhogle as saying.

Bhogle himself was looking forward to taking part in his "favourite tournament".

Twitter has been abuzz with reaction to the development as Harsha Bhogle, the man who boasts over 3 million followers, is considered a fan favourite.

Here's a selection of the best reaction:

There was, of course, disappointment with people tweeting with hashtags #BringBackHarsha and #NoHarshaNoIPL.

Some reactions went a bit over the top, to be honest.

As always, there was no shortage of humour and satire on Twitter, with people taking potshots at Amitabh Bachchan for a tweet during World T20.

The man himself tweeted his thanks for the support and in his own style, put things into perspective.
