The court has issued the order after the cricketer filed a petition in March this year challenging the BCCI's decision not to lift the ban despite a Delhi court acquitted him of spot-fixing charges in 2015.

The fast bowler, who played 27 Tests and 53 ODIs for India, has been banned by the BCCI after it was revealed that he was involved in spot-fixing during the season six of Indian Premier League (IPL). He was arrested by the Delhi Police in 2013 along with two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. Following an enquiry by the BCCI's disciplinary committee, Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan were banned for life.

Sreesanth got a reprieve after an additional sessions court in Delhi exonerated Sreesanth and others from the charges that included offences under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

But the BCCI did not lift the ban on the players and said acquittal from a criminal court is not enough to lift the ban.
