An MBA from Ujjain, Palash Kochar matched feats of Jim Laker and Anil Kumble of bagging all ten wickets in an innings when the twenty-three-year-old right arm leg break bowler spun the opponents out in the second innings for a local league game in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday

An MBA from Ujjain, Palash Kochar matched the feats of Jim Laker and Anil Kumble, bagging all ten wickets in an innings for a local league game in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, reported Hindustan Times.

The leg-spinner completed the feat in just 28.1 overs, while costing just 53 runs in the process. The ten wickets against Naramdapuram division side in the Maharaja Yeshwantrao Memorial Senior Division Cricket Tournament included five catch-outs, two leg before wickets, while two were clean bowled. The last wicket though was a caught and bold, as Palash had the privilege of completing his ten-wicket haul all by himself.

However, Palash Kochar's heroics were not enough to secure his Ujjain division side to reach the quarter-final of the tournament, as opponents Naramdapuram division side made the last eight thanks to their first innings lead.

The bowler expressed his delight at the achievement, but felt his side's qualification for the tournament's quarter-finals would have been the ideal end to the game.

But the young leggie isn't willing to rest on his laurels and has already set his sights on grabbing a hat-trick in the games to come. Palash who has been playing cricket since the age of four, harbours ambitions of making it to the MP Ranji team and eventually playing for the country just like Anil Kumble, whose feat Palash imitated on Saturday.

"I hope to make it to the MP Ranji team and be part of Team India just like Anil Kumble,” Palash who represented MP at the under-19 and under-23 levels told Hindustan Times after the game.

Palash Kochar, an MBA in marketing from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, was among the wickets in the first innings as well as he picked up four wickets. Palash who had three wickets overnight in the second innings set himself a target of picking up all the remaining wickets before he took to the field on the fourth day of the game. “When I claimed three wickets of Narmadapuram’s second innings on day three of the match on Friday, I had set a target of grabbing all the wickets on the last day.”

And that's exactly what he did to put himself in the same list as Anil Kumble who bagged all ten wickets in an innings against Pakistan at Feroze Shah Kotla, forty-three years after Jim Laker became the first bowler to do so in 1956.
