Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) received a major shot in the arm after skipper Virat Kohli was declared match fit ahead of the crucial tie against Mumbai Indians at home on Friday. The RCB captain missed the first three matches due to the shoulder injury he suffered in the Test series against Australia. In his absence, RCB was captained by Shane Watson, and they managed to win only one of their three matches.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, began the IPL 2017 season with a defeat to Rising Pune Supergiant, but recorded two thrilling wins in their next couple of matches. This match between RCB and MI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru promises to be a cracker, with both sides boasting plenty of batting firepower. While Chris Gayle and Shane Watson have failed to be among the runs so far, AB de Villiers showed what he is capable of in their last match against Kings XI Punjab.
Mumbai will, however, be a bit worried with the form of Rohit Sharma and West Indian Keiron Pollard, who have so far failed to get a good score in the tournament. The MI top order has been among runs with openers Parthiv Patel and Jos Buttler giving Mumbai good starts. Youngster Nitish Rana, all-rounder Hardik Pandya and brother Krunal have emerged as match winners for their team this season.
Among the bowlers, seamer Billy Stanlake and spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi have been among the wickets for the host team. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan have been doing really well in the bowling department.
