Pragyan Ojha took five wickets as England folded for 191 before tea on day three of the first Test at Ahmadabad. Matt Prior made 48 and Alastair Cook 41, but England never managed to quell their demons against spin. India have enforced the follow-on.

England have started well in their second innings though, with Cook scoring his 30th Test fifty and Compton giving him good support at the other end. However, Cook had a huge slice of luck when Pragyan Ojha's shout for LBW was turned down by umpire Aleem Dar.

On day two, Cheteshwar Pujara made sure there was no let up for England on the second day as he remorselessly ground his way to a first double-hundred. His unbeaten 206 came off 389 balls, contained 21 fours, and took just over eight and a half hours before India declared on 521 for 8.

Following the declaration, R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha turned the screws even further on England, picking up three wickets as the visitors slumped to 41 for 3.

Yuvraj Singh, back in the Test side after winning his battle against cancer, was also among the runs. He made a fluent 74 and looked good for a fairytale hundred before mistiming a full toss from Samit Patel to be caught in the deep. Graeme Swann was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 5 for 148 from 51 overs.

For England, much will depend on Alastair Cook, on 22, and Kevin Pietersen, on 6, as they seek to stave off India's spinners and avoid the follow-on.
