India vs Australia: Oscar-nominated film 'Lion' was screened for visitors before opening day in Pune

New Delhi: A special screening of the Oscar-nominated movie 'Lion' was held for the visiting Australian cricket team ahead of the opening cricket Test which started in Pune on Thursday.

Produced by a global collaborative team of Australian, UK and American producers, LION is currently in contention for Oscars, results of which will be announced this weekend.

The film is set to release this Friday in India and a few days ahead of its release a screening was held for Australian cricket team in India who are currently in India to play a Test match which is underway in Pune.

The film, which earned six Oscar nominations, opened up a few weeks back in Australia and has already paved its way into the Top 10 Films of all time at the box office.

Directed by Garth Davis, the film 'Lion' stars Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Sunny Pawar in pivotal roles and has been shoot extensively in India, Melbourne and Tasmania.
