The first International Cricket Council (ICC) global event of the year, ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017, is all set to begin in Colombo, Sri Lanka from Tuesday. The 15-day tournament starts on 7 February as India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Pakistan, Ireland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Scotland battle it out for the four spots available for the main event which will be held in England in June 2017. The top three teams from either group will advance to the Super Six stage with the top two teams playing the final on 21 February.

The opening game takes place between the hosts Sri Lanka and India at the P Sara Oval.

Indian captain Mithali Raj eyes a better performance by the younger talent in the team. She told ICC website, "We’ve got a few injuries on the side. This also gives an opportunity for the young talent in our team, who’ve just come in for the qualifiers, to see how they progress. We definitely are looking forward to the matches."

The Live streaming of selected matches from the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017 will be streamed across its digital platforms for the first time. The broadcast will be in line with the highest standards in the industry for online live-streaming only broadcasts and can be watched on icc-cricket.com
