  • On the other hand, the Lankan bowlers looked completely clueless and lacked ideas. Angelo Mathews was their standout bowler as he rocked the Indian middle order with two back-to-back wickets and maidens as well. Apart from him, all the other bowlers received a hammering. Lasith Malinga scalped Virat Kohli as his 300th wicket in ODIs which was the only positive thing for him. A mammoth target awaits them in the second innings and they will have to bat really well. The wicket is a belter and might just get better under lights. Let us hope we are in for a cracking encounter. Join us in a while.
  • Once the 219-run partnership for the second wicket broke, Sri Lanka pulled things back with a few quick wickets. However, Manish Pandey and the ever-reliable MS Dhoni steadied the ship and ensured that there were no further hiccups with an unbeaten 101-run stand. The visitors however would still feel they are at least 20 runs short of where they could have been.
  • What a scintillating batting display by the Indians there. After winning the toss and opting to bat, this was exactly what they would have been hoping for. They did not get off to the best of starts as they lost Dhawan early but Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma smashed the Lankan bowlers black and blue. With both of them scoring tons, India at one point looked like they would reach 400.
  • 49.6 Second ODI fifty for Manish Pandey! Full toss on middle and off, Pandey tries to have a whack at it but ends up mistiming it over mid-wicket. Only a single results. With this Manish Pandey gets to his half century while Dhoni is left stranded on 49! INDIA FINISH ON 375/5! This is the third highest first-innings total in Sri Lanka and the highest against the hosts.
  • 100-run stand between Manish Pandery and MS Dhoni.
  • 49.5 Full and angling in, Dhoni drills it hard towards long on. He turns around for the second but Pandey sends him back. The 100-run stand between these two is up. It has been a valuable stand for the visitors!
  • 49.4 Played to the point region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 49.3 Slower delivery outside off, sliced through cover-point for a brace. Good running, this!

  • 48.5 Wide outside off, slanting away. Dhoni again fails to squeeze it out.

  • 47.1 In the air and dropped! The fielding woes continue for Sri Lanka! Slower one wide outside off, Dhoni looks to hammer it away but ends up getting a top edge. The ball swirls high in the air. Munaweera at backward point, gets under the ball but ends up spilling it. Malinga is not happy and he starts walking back to his run-up mark. A single is taken. Dhoni gets a reprieve and he will now look to make the most of his life.

  • 50-run stand between Pandey and Dhoni.

  • 44.5 FOUR! Well placed! Angling away from the right-hander. Manish Pandey cleverly uses the angle and just guides it finer down the off side. Even short third man can't get to it and the ball races away to the fence. India crosses the 320-run mark!

  • 38.5 Comes running in and bowls it from wide of the crease. Angles it on the leg stump. Dhoni tries to flick but misses and the ball hits him on the pads. The players appeal but the umpire remains put. That would have been sliding down leg.
  • 38.4 The batsman rocks onto the backfoot and punches the ball.

  • 38.2 Length ball on off, Dhoni tucks it to mid-wicket.

  • 37.5 FOUR LEG BYES! Darts it on the pads, Dhoni fails to flick it and it goes off the pads to the short leg fielder. Mendis there collects and has a shy at the non-striker's end to everyone's surprise. Malinga did not expect it and was not backing up as the ball crosses the rope. That would have been close as Pandey was backing up a long way there.
  • MS Dhoni now walks out to the middle. 300th ODI for him and he will surely look to make it count.
  • 37.4 OUT! Dananjaya strikes! Another one bites the dust! Rahul's poor run in this series continues and he falls to Dananjaya again. Bowls a googly on middle, Rahul flicks it uppishly to the man at short mid-wicket. Wanidu Hasaranga there jumps and takes a very easy catch. Sri Lanka are just crawling their way back into the game. A soft dismissal there. India's middle-order woes continue. The visitors have lost half their side.

  • 34.5 Almost! Bangs in another short one around off. Pandey first thinks about ducking but then tries to pull it awkwardly and gets beaten. Almost a hat-trick there for Angelo.
  • Manish Pandey strides out to bat. He will be facing the hat-trick ball from Angelo Mathews in his comeback game. Let's see what happens next...
  • 34.4 OUT! Two-in-two for Mathews. Just the over Sri Lanka needed! This time it is the centurion who is walking back. The short ball does the trick again. Angelo bangs it in short on off, Sharma tries to upper cut it but gets a feather to Dickwella who pouches it. He appeals and the umpire raises his finger. A very entertaining knock by Rohit comes to an end. Mathews is on a hat-trick. An opening here for the Islanders with two new batsmen now at the crease.
  • Lokesh Rahul is the new man in.
  • 34.3 OUT! The drop does not cost them a lot. Dananjaya will breathe a sigh of relief! Mathews bangs in a short one, which gets big on Pandya. Hardik pulls it but fails to keep it down and holes out to Hasaranga at deep mid-wicket. He makes no mistake, runs to his left and takes it. Mathews finally gets his man. An important wicket for the Lankans. The crowd erupts here in Colombo.
  • 34.2 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 34.1 DROPPED! Oh, Dananjaya you cannot be dropping these! Mathews bowls a slower one on off, Pandya tries to go over cover but does not get the elevation and hits it to the fielder there. Akila gets two hands to it but spills it. How costly could this drop prove? We all know how dangerous Pandya can get. Mathews is not pleased here.

Malinga bowls a full toss on leg stump. Rohit times his drive through mid on for a boundary. He is extremely happy and celebrates with a huge smile on his face and with his hands aloft.
  • 33.3 He almost got deceived there! Bowls a slower ball which dips on the batsman on middle, Hardik adjusts well and flicks it through square leg for a run.
  • 33.2 Off pace delivery on middle, Pandya drives it to mid-wicket.

  • 30.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 236/2
  • 30.5 NOT OUT! A successful review for India! Danajaya sees Pandya coming down the track and shortens his length. Pandya adjusts and tries to defend it but the ball goes off something to the fielder at short leg. He catches it and appeals as the umpire gives it out. Pandya immediately reviews, signalling that he has not hit it to Rohit. Replays show that there was no bat involved there, so they now check for the lbw. The impact is more than three meters down the track but it is umpire's call and it is shown to be going on to clip the top of the stumps. However, there seems to be some communication between the on-field and the third umpire about it being not out for the lbw. The decision is overturned. Pandya survives to live another day.
  • Hardik Pandya has been adjudged caught at short leg. He though is sure that he has not nicked it and has taken the review straightaway.
  • 30.4 FOUR! BOOM! That was hit hard. Pandya once again uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball. He bludgeons it straight down the ground for a boundary.
  • 30.3 Tosses it up on off, Pandya defends it off the front foot.
  • A short leg is in place for Pandya.
  • 30.2 Goes back in the crease and tucks it to mid-wicket for a run.
  • 30.1 A poor piece of judgement there by Thirimanne! Pandya comes down the track and hits it aerially and flat towards long on. Lahiru runs ahead a touch but then stands his ground, collecting it on the bounce. The batsmen take a single. Thirimanne should have gone for the catch there. He maybe thought to better safe than sorry.
  • 29.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 230/2
  • 29.5 FOUR! Easy-peasy! Full toss on the pads, Rohit eases it through mid on for a boundary. He moves into the 90s now.
  • 29.4 Good length on off, Pandya gets it off the inner half towards square leg for a run.
  • So as mentioned earlier, it's Hardik Pandya who comes out to bat next. Expect the Indians to go all guns blazing from hereon.
  • 29.3 OUT! 300th ODI wicket for Malinga! The bowling change has worked for the Lankans. Malinga comes running in and persists with the full length delivery outside off. Kohli seeing the width on offer goes after it and lofts it towards the man at sweeper cover. Munaweera there did not have to move an inch and takes an easy catch. The 219-run stand has been broken. The Sri Lankan players are all pumped, they needed this wicket. A magnificent knock from the Indian skipper has come to an end. The change in bat has brought about a change in fortune for Kohli. He walks off to a standing ovation. Malinga receives a hug from Rohit Sharma on achieving the feat, a nice gesture from the opener there. Can the Lankans now build on this wicket?
  • 29.2 Bowls it very full. Almost a yorker on off, Kohli digs it out towards cover-point. Rohit wanted a run there but was sent back by Kohli. The fielder was quick to the ball and has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. No harm done there. A direct hit would have been close.
  • Change of bat for Virat Kohli as he wants his current bat to be taped.

  • 28.5 Rohit comes down the track. Dananjaya fires it down the leg side. Sharma misses the flick and the ball brushes his pads and goes to short fine leg.
  • 28.4 FOUR! WOW! We are running out of superlatives for how these two are batting. Tossed up ball on off, Rohit lofts it over the mid off fielder for a boundary. Now the question here is why is the mid off fielder inside the ring?
  • 28.3 Fires it on the pads, Kohli flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 28.2 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 28.1 Sloppy, very sloppy from Hasaranga! Nothing seems to be going right for the home side. Virat uses his feet and gets down to the pitch of the ball. He flicks it towards deep mid-wicket. The fielder there runs to his left gets to the ball but lets it through his legs for a boundary. This is not what Sri Lanka need at the moment.

  • 27.5 Another short delivery outside off, Kohli plays an overhead smash through wide mid on for a brace.

  • 27.3 FOUR! Full toss and punished! Angles in a juicy full toss. Kohli clears his front leg and smashes it through wide mid on for a boundary. This is poor bowling from Sri Lanka!

  • 200-run stand is up between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli!
  • 27.1 Fernando comes from around the wicket, spears it into the stumps, Kohli drives it towards mid on. Malinga there fumbles and searches for the ball. This allows the batsmen to steal a single. 200-run stand is up and this is the third one for the duo. Kohli is now involved in his 10th double century stand.

  • 29th ODI ton for Virat Kohli!
  • 24.1 FOUR! Another century for the Indian skipper! Virat Kohli just keeps getting those! It is a poor delivery from Siriwardana, short and sliding down leg. Virat just camps back and hammers it away over backward square leg. It goes on the bounce across the fence. Gets to his ton in just 76 balls. What an innings it has been, absolutely superb!
  • 23.6 SIX! Lovely! The last two deliveries has just undone the good work of the last couple of overs. Full around off, Sharma dances down and lofts it inside out over covers. Times it so well and gets it off the meat as well. The ball just sails over the fence for a maximum. 176/1
