  • Bangladesh were lackluster in the field and conceded some easy runs. Mehedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers, picking up two wickets. Saifuddin bowled a brilliant final over but the partnership of 61 from 31 between Miller and Behardien, where the latter dominated, allowed the Proteas to finish on a high. It is a steep task for the visitors but stranger things have happened in cricket. Join us for the chase shortly.
  • South Africa will be really happy with the score after electing to bat first. They didn't have the best of starts as Amla departed cheaply trying to force the issue. But then, in came AB de Villiers and stamped his authority from the word go. De Kock played a free-flowing knock from the other end as well to maintain a healthy run rate.
  • 19.6 Brilliant yorker on middle, jammed out to mid-wicket for a run. Good final over from Saifuddin. SOUTH AFRICA FINISH ON 195/4.
  • 19.5 Another one in the blockhole on off, Farhaan digs it out to extra cover for a single.
  • 19.4 Tailing in on a fullish length on middle, David makes room and only manages to ply it to mid off for a single.
  • 19.3 Very full outside off, Behardien whacks it to deep cover for a single.
  • 19.2 FOUR! Behardien is playing a gem of a knock! Saifuddin rolls his fingers on this one and bowls a short delivery. Behardien spots it and swats it over mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • 19.1 Excellent bowling! Pinpoint yorker on the boots, Miller clears his front leg and looks to whip it across but is hit on the back leg. The ball rolls to the leg side and the batsmen take a leg bye. That hit him on the heel of the leg, that must hurt.
  • 18.6 SIX! Brilliant! Just used the pace of the delivery there. Fullish delivery slanting down the leg side, Behardien kneels and sweeps it over deep square leg for a maximum. 186/4
  • 18.5 Fullish delivery on middle and leg, Farhaan hits it straight back to Islam who mimes a throw back to the keeper's end.
  • 18.4 Full length delivery in line of the stumps, Behardien backs away and knocks it to long on. A couple taken.
  • 18.3 Bouncer in line of the stumps, Miller mistimes his pull to mid-wicket to rotate strike.
  • 18.2 FOUR! Nicely placed! Islam bowls the slower one on a shorter length outside off. Miller reads it well and guides it past the point fielder to pick up another boundary.
  • 18.1 Back of a length delivery, Miller flat-bats it to wide long on for a couple.
  • 17.6 SIX! What a shot! Fuller length ball around off, Behardien carves it over extra over for half a dozen. That was all about timing and grace. 171/4
  • 17.5 Angling into Farhaan who goes for a hoick across the line but drags it to deep mid-wicket for a couple.
  • 17.4 Poor fielding! Behardien crunches this one to Mehedi at sweeper cover. He attacks the ball but fumbles to concede a couple.
  • 17.3 Full length ball outside off, carved away to sweeper cover for a run.
  • 17.2 Another low full toss, Miller backs away and hits it hard to wide long on. Rahman runs across to his left and stops it. A couple taken.
  • 17.1 Low full toss, drilled through mid on for a run.

  • 16.2 Fullish delivery, Behardien goes for the heave but drags it to deep square leg for a brace.

  • 16.1 Yorker on off, Miller jams it out to mid off for a brisk single.
  • 15.6 Tossed up outside off, Behardien slaps it through wide mid off. Rahman in the deep races to his right and slides to keep it down to a couple. 144/4

  • 15.2 Fullish delivery, Behardien works it through wide mid on for a couple. Gets off the mark as well.
  • 15.1 The batsman plays a sweep shot. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • Farhaan Behardien strides out to bat.
  • 14.6 OUT! De Kock departs against the run of play! He shuffles across and Hossain attacks the stumps with a full length delivery. He looks to paddle it away but is struck on the boots. Bangladesh roar in appeal and up goes the umpire's finger. Quinton is not happy and walks back dejected. The review was there to be used but he doesn't. Is he aware? Good call in the end as the Hawk Eye shows the pitching was umpire's call and the rest were two reds. Outstanding over by Rubel, just 3 runs and a big wicket from it! 133/4
  • 14.6 Wide! Full length delivery in the same channel, de Kock looks to sweep it but misses and the ball just goes past the leg stump. A wide is signaled but Rahim is not pleased.
  • 14.5 Angles this one in again from around leg stump, Miller looks to clip it across but gets an inside edge onto his pads. The batsmen sneak in a run.
  • 14.4 An appeal for an LBW is denied! Full length delivery around leg stump, Miller tries to play it across but is hit on the pads. Hossain is interested but the umpire shakes his head. That pitched outside leg, showed the replays.
  • Third man in place now.
  • 14.3 Another full toss, de Kock mistimes it to long off for a single.

  • 12.6 Works this one to the leg side for a run. End of an eventful over. 123/3
  • David Miller is the next man in!
  • 12.5 OUT! Good awareness from Kayes! Tossed up around off, Duminy uses his feet and muscles it over mid off. Kayes in the deep runs across to his left, gets his hands to it but it's hit so ferociously that the ball pops out from his hands. He, although, recovers well and takes it in the second attempt with a dive. Bangladesh need to keep chipping away at the wickets.
  • 12.4 Fullish delivery, driven through mid on for a run.
  • 12.3 SIX! Brings up his 2nd T20I fifty in style! Slow through the air and full outside off, de Kock kneels and slog sweeps it over deep mid-wicket for a huge biggie. That came right off the screws. This is also his highest T20I score.
  • 12.2 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. One run added to the total.
  • 12.1 Not Out! That was touch and go. Duminy plays this one with the spin through wide mid on for a run and calls his partner through for the second. The fielder returns an accurate throw and seems to have hit the bull's eye at the bowler's end as de Kock dives in to make his ground. It is referred upstairs. The replays roll in. It seems as Shakib has touched the bails with his hand before the ball hit the stumps. The third umpire looks at it from a different angle. It is not clear whether the bail got dislodge from the hand or not. Also the bails are not entirely off and de Kock seems to have just made the crease. After a lot of deliberation, the benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman. Fair enough.
  • There is a run out appeal which is taken upstairs against de Kock. Shakib seems to have disturbed one of the bails before the ball hit the stumps. A tough call for the TV umpire this...
  • Shakib is back on!

  • 10.5 Driven through mid on by the batsman. They pick up a single.

  • 10.2 Full delivery, whipped to wide long on for a run.
  • 10.1 Tossed up delivery, played with soft hands to mid-wicket for a run.
  • The skipper, JP Duminy walks out to bat next. Also, there is a bowling change as Mahmudullah comes on to bowl.
  • 9.6 OUT! AB de Villiers departs after a brilliant knock! However, he will be disappointed to miss out on a fifty by a mere run. Full delivery on off, de Villiers swings across the line but skews it off the outer half towards long off. Mahmudullah lines it up, takes it reverse cup and after that, tumbles down. The 79-run stand from 48 balls comes to an end. Boundaries dried up and AB tried to break the shackles but miscued his shot. Good pressure bowling by Bangladesh, a bit of a comeback for them. 97/2
  • 9.5 Makes room and drills it against the spin to sweeper cover for a couple.
  • 9.4 Fullish delivery in line of the stumps, de Kock goes for the fancy reverse sweep and connects well but finds Taskin at short third man.

  • 8.5 Driven through the covers by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 8.4 Poor fielding again! Short and room on offer, de Villiers cuts it towards sweeper cover and takes a run. Soumya Sarkar fumbles and seeing that, de Kock sets off. Shakib fails to collect it as well. An extra run taken.
  • 8.3 Tossed up delivery, Quinton creams it to long off to get off strike.

  • 8.1 Fraction short, de Kock pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • Shakib Al Hasan to roll his arm over again.

  • 6.3 Bangladesh are not looking good in the field. Fullish delivery outside off, de Villiers hammers it towards Sarkar at sweeper cover who makes a half-stop but is not sure where the ball is. Suddenly realizes that it has rolled behind but has not crossed the fence. He goes back and by that time, two runs are taken. That brings up the 50-run stand between the duo as well.
  • 6.2 Fractionally overpitched around off, de Villiers strokes it towards Shakib at extra cover who dives to his right and stops it. He is ringing his hand, looks to be in pain.
  • 6.1 Bouncer in line of the stumps, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • Mohammad Saifuddin to have a burst now. The youngster will be eager to impress.
  • 5.6 FOUR! Three in a row! On a length around off, de Villiers makes room and lifts it over the extra cover region. The timing is spot on and the ball whistles away to the fence. Breezy start for South Africa, 65 runs in the Powerplay. 18 from this one. 65/1
  • 5.5 FOUR! The dynamic Protea batsman is in the zone. Ominous signs for opposition. De Villiers shuffles across and Islam attacks the stumps with a low full toss. AB kneels and sweeps it through backward square leg for a boundary.
  • 5.4 FOUR! Sloppy work! Short delivery, de Villiers goes for the pull but gets it off the inner half towards the fielder at short fine leg. He makes a mess of it, allowing it to go through to the fence.

  • 4.6 FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Full length ball on off, de Villiers makes room and hammers it through extra cover to find the fence. 14 from the over. 47/1
  • 4.5 FOUR! That has been struck with authority! Short delivery on off, sits up nicely for de Villiers. He stands tall and pulls it hard over mid-wicket for a boundary. That almost carried the whole distance.
  • 4.5 Wide! Low full toss well outside off, AB aims to carve it away but misses. Wide called by the umpire.
  • 4.4 De Villiers makes room to the full length delivery and drills it to extra cover. He looks for a run but it is not on. Moves back to the crease as the fielder misses his shy at the striker's end.

  • 0.1 South Africa are away! Shakib starts off with a short ball on off, de Kock drags it to long on for a run.

The weather is bright and sunny, excellent conditions to play cricket. Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla will open the batting for the Proteas. Bangladesh begin with spin. Shakib Al Hasan to roll his arm over with the new ball. Here we go...
  • TOSS - South Africa win the toss and opt to bat. Robbie Frylinck makes his international debut for the hosts, a big moment for him.
  • On the other hand, the Bangla Tigers have been all at sea so far. Shakib Al Hasan will captain his country and needs to inspire his boys to change their fortunes. The fast-paced nature of the game might give them the best opportunity to showcase their potential. Expect a thrilling encounter!
  • Hello and a warm welcome to the coverage of the 1st T20I between South Africa and Bangladesh in Bloemfontein. The Proteas have ruled the roost in their home conditions so far and will be aiming to dominate the proceedings in the shortest format as well. The hosts will be testing their bench strength, more so in the bowling department and Robbie Frylinck might make his international debut.
  • Done for the night. At last some fight shown by Bangladesh on this tour, however the end result remained unchanged. They will have one more shot before flying back home. Can they avoid yet another clean sweep? Do join us on Sunday at 1430 local (1230 GMT) to find out. Cheers!
  • Man of the Match, AB de Villiers states that Jonty Rhodes has inspired him the most. Is disappointed to have gotten out at that time as he wanted to get a big one. Further says when he stepped out, de Kock informed him that there is pace on the wicket and that is when he decided to cash in. Reckons he enjoys batting at no. 3 in this format as it helps to capitalize the innings and pace it accordingly. Adds he wanted to make the debutant Robbie Frylinck feel better as he was nervous at the start and is happy to take a catch off his bowling to calm him down.
  • Protea skipper, JP Duminy says that they posted a good score. Mentions that the opposition bowlers at the death were on the money but it was skillful batting from Miller and Behardien to take them to 195. Credits his bowlers for being calm when the Bangladeshi batsmen were on the attack. Informs that he is happy with his bowlers. Adds that their variations were good but there is always room for improvement. Ends by saying that they need to be ruthless and keep giving their best.
  • Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan starts by saying South Africa batted really well but feels the last 5 overs while bowling cost them the match. Opines they gave away 20-30 extra which they could have stopped. Adds they got a good start but just couldn't capitalize on it. Rues the fielding which wasn't up to the mark either. Is impressed with the way they bowled in the first 10 overs. Hopes to rectify the mistakes they committed today and ends by saying they would keep in mind that they don't face too many dot balls further.
  • Credit to the inexperienced South African bowlers for holding their nerves when they were put under pressure. They bounced back tremendously and made Bangladesh slip from 2/92. All their speedsters bagged a couple of wickets apiece with Paterson and Phehlukwayo standing out the most. Mohammad Saifuddin fought a lone battle towards the end but his knock only helped the visiting team to narrow down the defeat margin.
  • Scintillating batting by the likes of de Kock, de Villiers and Behardien powered South Africa to a big total. However, the Bangla Tigers didn't lose hope. The shortest format brought out the tiger in them and they responded brilliantly at the start. Soumya Sarkar looked in fine form, playing attractive and attacking brand of cricket but the other batters were not quite up to the mark. Plenty of starts were wasted as the Protea bowlers kept chipping away at the wickets.
  • Entertaining contest! Unlike the Test and ODI series, Bangladesh fought hard but sadly for them, it wasn't enough. Anyway, they will be pleased to see some improvement in their performance and would like to better it in the last game on this tour.
  • 19.6 SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 20 RUNS! On middle and leg, Saifuddin jams it down to long on and hares back for a couple. What a win for the Proteas, the crowd is up on its feet lauding the effort displayed by Duminy and his boys to take a 1-0 LEAD IN THE SERIES!
  • 19.5 FOUR! Sloppy from Behardien! Slower back of the hand delivery outside off, Saifuddin makes room and slaps it over covers. Behardien in the deep is a bit sloppy and allows the ball to run away through to the fence.
  • 19.4 Slower length ball on middle, Hossain flat-bats it down to long on for a single.
  • 19.3 In the air... drops well short! Saifuddin opts to pull this slower ball but gets a top edge. The ball falls well short of the man running in from deep square leg. A single taken.
  • 19.2 SIX! Boom! Fuller in length and on the pads, Saifuddin clears the front leg and just whips it over deep square leg to pick up a maximum.
  • 19.1 Fuller in length on off, driven towards de Villiers at covers. They set off and ABD has a shy at the bowler's end. He hits but the batsman was safely in.

  • 17.3 FOUR! Length ball, angling in, Saifuddin muscles it over mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • Rubel Hossain is the last man in!
  • 17.2 OUT! Knuckle ball works for Frylinck! Islam makes room to hit that one over the off side but gets it off the toe-end of the bat. Miller from covers runs backwards and takes a smart catch. South Africa just a wicket away from winning this!
  • 17.1 Backs away and drills it through point for a single.
  • 16.6 Back of the hand delivery outside off, Islam swings and misses. 3 runs and two wickets, what an over! 149/8
  • 16.5 Slower ball on the pads, tucked behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • 16.4 Almost... almost a hat-trick! Spears in a yorker, swinging back in, Islam manages to jam it out off the inner half towards square leg for a single.
  • Shafiul Islam is the new man in to face the hat-trick ball.
  • 16.3 OUT! Two-in-two for Paterson! Another successful review from South Africa! Paterson fires in a pinpoint yorker on the stumps, Taskin seems to be a tad late in bringing his bat down. The ball goes off the front boot towards the off side. Paterson appeals but the umpire shakes his head. Duminy immediately takes the review. The TV umpire takes a lot of time to confirm if it was bat or boot first and eventually makes the decision that it's boot. Hawk Eye then confirms it's pitched in line and would have crashed into the stumps. Can Paterson pick up a hat-trick?
  • Review time! Duminy straightaway goes for a review against Ahmed. The only thing which can save him is if there is bat involved.
  • Taskin Ahmed is the new man in!
  • 16.2 OUT! Bowled 'em! Mehedi Hasan walks across to play the scoop but that leads to his undoing! The ball hits the pads and then deflects back onto the leg stump. Paterson is elated!
  • 16.1 Back of a length on middle, tapped towards the on side for a single.
  • 15.6 SIX! Mehedi Hasan has given it his all! Slower back from the hand delivery on middle, Mehedi Hasan backs away and pulls hard at it. Didn't seem like he has got enough but indeed he did to clear Duminy at long on for a maximum. 146/6
  • 15.5 Low full toss angling in, MS looks to flick but gets a leading edge towards cover. AB de Villiers fumbles and a single is taken.
  • 15.4 Saifuddin defends it from within the crease.
  • 15.3 FOUR! Edged and over point! Backs away and throws his hands at it. Gets an outside edge over point. No one in the deep and Mehedi collects a boundary.
  • 15.2 Hasan makes room, the bowler follows him. Mehedi awkwardly pulls it through the leg side to collect one.
  • 15.1 Outside off, dabbed down to third man for a single.
  • Andile Phehlukwayo returns for a bowl.
