  • Some lusty hits by Imad Wasim and Shoaib Malik helped them get past the 170-run mark. The bowling was much better for the tourists. Thisara Perera and Samuel Badree finished with two wickets each and were well backed up by the rest. Faf du Plessis would have hoped for better bowling effort and he has got it. Will they chase it down to level the series or will the home side run away with the game? Join us in a while to find out.
  • Phew! What a dramatic finish for Pakistan but the World XI won't mind the score too. In the last four overs, they scored 40 runs, losing four vital wickets. Fakhar Zaman again fell early after a promising start but the pair of Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam put up a good stand. Just when they were looking to go big, both fell in quick time.
  • 19.6 OUT! Gone! Wicket on the final ball! What a catch, Collingwood! Age is just a number, he proves! On a length and outside off, Malik makes room and smashes it over covers. Paul in the deep, comes a couple of steps forward and dives to take it inches above the ground. Simply outstanding. 17 runs off the final over and PAKISTAN FINISH WITH 174/6!
  • 19.5 SIX! Slammed! On a length and outside off, Malik goes back and pummels it towards long on. The fielder there was interested in taking it but the ball goes well over him and into the fence.
  • 19.4 Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 19.3 Dropped! That was the easiest of the night! A full toss on middle, dipping in, Malik goes for the pull but doesn't time it well. It goes towards Miller at deep mid-wicket who drops a sitter. A single taken.
  • 19.3 Wide! Slower one but miles outside off. Shoaib thinks of going after it but then decides to leave it alone.
  • Mid on drops back.
  • 19.2 Full toss outside off, drilled through covers for a comfortable brace.
  • 19.1 SIX! Top edge but doesn't matter! Short ball, climbing up on Malik who gives it a full swing of the bat. Gets a thick top edge but has enough to clear the man at deep mid-wicket for a maximum. So a biggie to start the final over.
  • Sohail Khan is the next man in!
  • 18.6 OUT! Golden duck for the Pakistan skipper! Shorter in length and outside off, Sarfraz Ahmed looks to guide it in the gap with the third man up. But much to his dismay, he ends up playing it straight it into the hands of Tahir stationed there. Eventful over from Perera, 6 runs and two wickets from it along with the no ball. 157/5
  • 18.5 Short delivery outside off, Malik cuts it towards the point fielder and scampers through for a quick single.
  • Sarfraz Ahmed is the new man in.
  • 18.4 OUT! In the air.. gone! Perera bowls a low full toss on the stumps, Imad Wasim gets across to play the paddle scoop but doesn't connect it quite well. It loops up in the air and Tahir at short fine leg takes an easy catch.
  • 18.3 Back of a length delivery outside off, Malik makes room and taps it in front of point for a single.
  • 18.2 A low full toss on the stumps, hit down the ground for a single.
  • 18.1 Stays leg side and lofts it over long on for a couple of runs.
  • Deep square leg goes finer.
  • 18.1 Not Out! It's called as a no ball for height! Full toss around off, Wasim slams it straight down the throat of Tahir at deep mid-wicket. Imad immediately looks to the square leg umpire and is asked to wait. Replays show it's well over the waist height and rightly called as a no ball. Free Hit coming up.
  • Imad Wasim is caught at deep mid-wicket. But he's asked to wait as it seems to be well above the waist height...
  • Thisara Perera to bowl now!
  • 17.6 Length delivery, angling in on middle, Imad Wasim mistimes his pull towards long on and will keep strike. 13 runs from the over and Morkel finishes his spell with figures of - 4-0-20-0! 151/3
  • 17.6 Wide! Slower one but down the leg side, Imad moves inside the line to let it be. Paine fumbles but they don't cross. 150 up for Pakistan!
  • 17.5 Imad tries to be cheeky here! Back of a length delivery on middle, Wasim looks to play the reverse scoop but fails to get any wood on it.
  • 17.4 FOUR! More runs! Short and angling on middle and leg, Wasim just helps it with a lapse over backward square leg to pick up the second boundary of the over.
  • 17.3 Good running! Length delivery, angling in, Wasim stays leg side and hits it down to long on. Good running between the wickets allows them to take a couple.
  • Mid on goes back, long off is now inside the ring.
  • 17.2 FOUR! Oh good shot! Morkel from around the wicket, angles it on a fuller length on middle. Imad stand stall and with a straight bat drives it down the ground for a boundary. Pakistan need this.
  • 17.1 Length delivery outside off, Malik dabs it wide of the point fielder for a single.
  • Morne Morkel to bowl out.

  • 16.5 Steps out of the crease and eases it down to long off for a single.
  • 16.4 Chance of a run out! Wasim lunges forward and pushes it towards the off side before taking off. Malik obliges and Faf du Plessis from cover charges towards the ball and flicks it at the striker's end as Shoaib dives to get in. The throw to Paine was a wide one which saved the batsman there.
  • 16.3 Flatter on the pads, clipped in front of square leg for a single.
  • Imad Wasim is the new man in. He is promoted up the order.
  • 16.2 OUT! No fifty for Azam! Badree sends it quicker through the air, it skids a bit as Azam stands put to hit it down the ground. Fails to get enough meat behind the shot as the ball goes high up in the air. Miller comes forward from long on, judges the ball and takes another good catch. Never easy to take those under lights. Another good knock from Babar.

  • 15.5 FOUR! Easily done! Down the leg side, Malik helps it down to the long leg fence for a boundary.
  • 15.4 Stumping chance goes down abegging! Tossed up outside off, Malik comes down the track to hoick it across the line. It turns away and beats him. Tim Paine behind the stumps collects the ball but is a tad late in taking the bails off. Malik comes back in the crease but it's taken upstairs. Replays show the batsman is safe.

  • 13.6 Shimmies down the track and with an angled bat dabs it in front of point to keep strike. 115/2
  • 13.5 Yorker at the base of the middle stump, jammed down to long on by Azam. He wants the second one as well but a good throw from Perera denies him.
  • 13.4 Short of a length outside off, Malik chops it besides the pitch as the man from short third man is quick to the ball but won't stop the batsmen from crossing over.
  • 13.3 Once again on a similar length, pulled in front of square for a single.
  • 13.2 FOUR! That's not a good ball! With Azam in such form he won't let it go waste. Slants it on a length around the pads, Babar swivels a touch and pulls it through square leg to find the fence.

  • Time for the game! There is a still a strong breeze around the ground. The boundary cushions are adjusted. Ahmed Shehzad and Fakhar Zaman to open the batting for Pakistan. Morne Morkel to run in first up. Here we go...
  • There is a dust storm blowing across the stadium, hopefully it won't delay the proceedings.
  • PITCH REPORT - Pommie Mbangwa doing the pitch report feels that the wicket looks a touch drier than yesterday and will have a bit more pace. Adds that the deck should remain the same and so chasing shouldn't be a problem either.
  • Faf du Plessis says the wicket looks good. Adds they have also made changes to their side. Grant Elliot and Darren Sammy are out and in come Paul Collingwood and Samuel Badree. Isn't disappointed to bat second either. Feels they conceded 20 runs extra in the last game but hopes that they manage to restrict the hosts to a score that they can chase down later. Ends by saying they play cricket to win matches.
  • Sarfraz Ahmed informs that he will bat. Mentions that they are playing an extra spinner. Opines that they did not want to risk with Hasan Ali's back problem. Jokes that there were too many batsmen in the World XI yesterday. Two changes for them, Fahim Ashraf and Hasan Ali replaced by Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Nawaz.
  • TOSS - Pakistan win the toss and opt to bat.
  • While Sarfraz Ahmed did acknowledge that the focus should be on cricket, one cannot ignore the context. A successful staging of this series will hopefully open doors for many more international teams coming to this part of the subcontinent. For now, the game today is what matters, should be an interesting one. Stay tuned for all the action.
  • International cricket made a resounding return to Pakistan after a very eventful first encounter between the hosts and World XI yesterday. The home side has taken a 1-0 lead with a complete performance. It was always going to be the case with the tourists being a bit rusty as they haven't played together. Faf du Plessis will hope for a better performance from his teammates and level the series with a win.
