  • The Lankan middle order failed to put up a fight and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost them to every bowler who bowled as if to make them happy. A complete bowling performance from Pakistan. They gave no breathing space to the visitors and choked them for runs. They will back themselves to chase this down. Should be a cakewalk for them, or will Thisara Perera manage to inspire a miracle? Looks unlikely. Join us in a while for the chase.
  • What a disheartening performance by Sri Lanka! They seem to be finding ways to get into more trouble. They lost Dilshan Munaweera on the third ball of the game and it sort of set the tone for the rest of the innings. Danushka Gunathilaka played his shots before departing to Usman Khan. Sadeera Samarawickrama looked good but the potent bowling attack of the hosts proved too much for all of them combined.
  • 18.3 OUT! SRI LANKA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 102! Superb bowling performance from the Men in Green, they've taken the Lankan side apart with ease. Full ball on off, Sanjaya doesn't pick up the fact that it's a slower one and plays the shot early. Lofts it high in the air towards extra cover where Fahim Ashraf takes a simple catch, coming in from mid off.
  • 18.2 Brings out the short delivery again, it's pulled again to deep square leg for a run.
  • 18.1 SIX! He's latched onto that, hasn't he? Tremendous hit. Short ball to which Prasanna rocks back early. Muscles the pull and clears the leaping fielder at deep square leg for a flat maximum. Great shot, Sri Lanka need a few more of these now.
  • 17.6 Short of a good length on off, Seekkuge mistimes the pull down the ground towards long on. Will keep strike with the single. 95/9
  • 17.5 Angling in on a full length, Sanjaya gets his bat ahead of his pad and pushes it to the right of the bowler. Moment the ball goes past him, they steal a quick single. Good running, this.
  • 17.4 Short in length but it doesn't have a lot of pace on it. Allows Prasanna time to go back and pull it along the ground through square leg for one.
  • 17.3 Uppish but safe! Just ahead of a length around off, driven through point for a single.
  • 17.2 Shaping back in on off stump, guarded well from inside the crease.
  • 17.1 Comes around the wicket and serves a length ball outside off, Sanjaya has a timid poke at it from inside the line but misses.
  • 16.6 Keeps it tight. Good length on off, Prasanna deals with it safely on the off side. 91/9
  • 16.5 Speared well outside off, Prasanna just wildly throws his bat at it. Misses it completely as it's collected by the keeper.
  • 16.5 Wide! Shortish and down the leg side, Prasanna looks to pull but misses. Wide called by the umpire.
  • 16.4 Good effort from the fielder. Sanjaya drives it towards the covers. The man at extra cover runs to his left, dives and ensures he keeps the ball from going past him. Restricts the batsmen to just the one.
  • 16.3 Keeps it full once again, it's driven down to long on for a run.
  • 16.2 Swinging in on a fuller length, on middle and leg, Sanjaya flicks it off the inside part of the bat through mid-wicket for a single.
  • Vikum Sanjaya is the last batsman in for Sri Lanka.
  • 16.1 OUT! Oh, dear.. Dear, oh dear! That's the 9th wicket down for the Islanders. Hasan Ali comes steaming in and bowls a length delivery right on the stumps. It shapes in late and blazes right through the gate. Udana misses the expansive drive and he hears the death rattle behind.
  • Hasan Ali back into the bowling attack.
  • 15.6 Good length following the batsman making room, Prasanna works it through the mid-wicket area for a brace. 87/8
  • Isuru Udana to bat now.
  • 15.5 OUT! Thisara Perera is gone! And along with that, in all likelihood, Sri Lanka's last hopes of getting to a fighting total. Short ball on middle, Perera goes for the pull. Gets a big top edge which skies over on the leg side. Sarfraz himself calls for the catch extremely early. Runs to the ball, settles under it and takes it very well to dismiss his counterpart. Sri Lanka face posting a low total on the board again.
  • 15.4 Angles across a length ball around off, Seekkuge slogs it from the inner half through mid-wicket. Won't exactly be happy with the shot but that brings Thisara back on strike.
  • 15.3 Short once again and it's a decent pace. Prasanna takes the pull shot on and connects with thin air. The ball goes back and thuds into the keeper's gloves.
  • 15.2 Cutting back in on middle and leg, it's on a length, Perera flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 15.1 Bumper to get things going, it's angling down leg as Perera ducks and evades. Looks at the umpire for the wide, only to be disappointed. Was a close one though, could have given it either way to be honest.
  • Usman Khan back on to bowl.
  • 14.6 Bit of loop on this one, outside off and turning away, pushed away square towards point for nothing. 83/7
  • 14.5 Another seam-up ball, full in length, kept out in front of covers.
  • 14.4 A seam-up delivery from delivery, that was fast. At 115 kph, Prasanna drills it out on the off side.
  • 14.3 Prasanna almost slipped there. Full outside off, he planted his front foot forward to drive but slipped. Not completely though, which saved him from getting stumped.
  • 14.2 Well outside off, Prasanna reaches out to cut it away but fails to make connection.
  • 14.1 Googly around off, Thisara stands his ground and cuts it hard towards deep point for a single.
  • Shadab Khan returns for a bowl.
  • 13.6 Closes the bat face too soon, plays for the turn and gets a leading edge which falls safely on the off side. 82/7
  • 13.5 The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball.
  • 13.4 Drifting away from around off, Prasanna plays and gets an edge. It runs down towards third man for a couple of runs.
  • 13.3 Turns this away with the spin and works it through mid-wicket. Prasanna quickly calls for the second and makes it back in with a dive, beating the throw. Sarfraz isn't exactly happy with the effort, wanted his fielder to get to the ball quicker.
  • 13.2 SIX! That's right out of the screws! What a hit. That's one of his favourite shots, has played that a few times before to maximum effect. Tossed up and it's in the slot, Prasanna clears his front leg and smokes it over wide long on. Sends it deep into the stands and that'll be a biggie.
  • 13.1 Spinning in on middle and leg, worked with gentle hands down on the on side.
  • 12.6 FOUR! Connects and connects well! Thisara Perera is off and running in this game. Picks up the length early as it's pitched on a back of a length, stays back and pulls it over mid-wicket to send it across the rope. 72/7
  • 12.5 Bouncer! The batsman ducks under the bouncer at the last moment.
  • 12.4 Length delivery outside the line of off stump, Perera plays and fails to connect.
  • The Lankan skipper Thisara Perera is next in.
  • 12.3 OUT! And now he's gone! His rage must know no bounds at this point. Hasan Ali sends him back to the dugout. Short ball around off, it's quick which hurries Pathirana into the pull shot. He can only lob it back to the bowler who takes it with tremendous glee.
  • 12.2 Some light-hearted fun from Hasan Ali, not sure though if Pathirana sees the humour in that. Length delivery around off, Sachith looks to get bat on ball but gets an inside edge back onto his pads. At first the left-hander doesn't know where the ball is, so Hasan Ali comes running towards him and pretends that the ball is in the air, jokingly. Pathirana just gives him a big, long stare.
  • 12.1 Back of a length on middle, Pathirana stays back and punches it through mid-wicket for a double.
  • Hasan Ali returns to the attack.
  • 11.6 Shout for an lbw which is instantly shut down. Was always sliding down. Slider on leg and it keeps on going with the angle, Prasanna looks to play and misses to be caught on the pads. Double wicket maiden for Hafeez, brilliant bowling from him. 66/6
  • 11.5 Fuller in length around the off stump line, blocked out well by Prasanna off the front foot.
  • Seekkuge Prasanna comes out to bat. Still no Thisara Perera, one wonders why though.
  • 11.4 OUT! Hafeez with another wicket, his second of the over. This is smart bowling from the experienced campaigner. Sees Shanaka coming down the track and fires it full outside off, the batsman can't put bat on ball and Sarfraz has all the time in the world to take the bails off. More than half the side is back in the dugout, Pakistan on the charge!
  • 11.3 Short and flat outside outside off, punched away towards mid-wicket again where the fielder makes a good diving stop. Great effort.
  • 11.2 Slider on middle and off, worked away towards mid-wicket but straight to the fielder.
  • Dasun Shanaka will bat next.
  • 11.1 OUT! The Professor strikes with his first ball of the match! Comes from around the wicket and lands it on middle and off, it doesn't turn much and catches Mahela Udawatte on the front pad. He plays it down the wrong line and hence gets undone. Gets caught right in front of the stumps and the umpire has no trouble in raising his finger to the appeal. Sri Lanka slip further, it doesn't look good for them.
  • Mohammad Hafeez comes on to bowl.
  • 10.6 The batsman has been struck on the pads as he looked to play that off the front foot. The fielding side is asking the question. The umpire signals leg bye. 66/4
  • 10.5 Bowls this outside off, it's played down to third man for a single.
  • 10.4 Loopy leg spinner on middle and leg, Udawatte chips this down towards mid on for a single.
  • 10.3 FOUR! That's a welcome boundary for Sri Lanka, they need a few of those. This is excellently executed by Udawatte. Sees the ball tossed up, he walks a step across, gets low and sweeps it through backward square leg. Beats the man out in the deep and picks up a boundary for himself.
  • 10.2 Wrong 'un around off, Pathirana stays back and meets it with a straight bat. Picks up a single as it falls on the off side.
  • A slip in place.
  • Sachith Pathirana will be the new man in.
  • 10.1 OUT! The leggie bags his first! Sri Lanka are facing a collapse here once again. Trying to be innovative, Priyanjan brings out the reverse sweep. Doesn't connect well at all and spoons it straight to Shoaib Malik at backward point who takes a safe catch diving forward.
  • 9.6 It's just wide! That was close. What are you doing there, Ashan? Short again around off, Priyanjan comes down the track and looks to pull, only to get an inside edge which goes past the leg stump behind. Single taken. 58/3
  • 9.5 Short and wide outside off, Udawatte punches it to the left of the bowler and picks up a single.
  • 9.4 Quicker through the air around the off stick, pushed away from the back foot.
  • 9.3 Keeps it on the shorter side of the length, Ashan pulls, not well but still manages to get a single through mid-wicket. It went off the inside half.
  • 9.2 Sliding in on middle and leg, Udawatte picks it off his pads and flicks it through square leg for a run.
  • 9.1 Shortish on off stump, whacked through the mid-wicket area by Ashan for a run.
  • Imad Wasim back on.
  • 8.6 Just back of a length on off, keeps a little low as Priyanjan pulls. Isn't in complete control of it but he still drags it square on the leg side for a single. 53/3
  • 8.5 Length delivery just outside off, Priyanjan swings hard, only to miss it as the ball goes under his bat.
  • 8.4 Off the mark here! Full delivery which is driven down the ground by Udawatte for a single.
  • 8.3 Back of a length delivery around off, Udawatte from his back foot guards it out.
  • Mahela Udawatte walks into the middle next for Sri Lanka. He's playing after a gap of 8 years.
  • 8.2 OUT! Ashraf with the breakthrough! He's completely undone Samarawickrama with an absolute ripper! Lands it on a length on off and makes it come back in, Samarawickrama thinking it'll go the other way plays it away from his body and leaves a big gap between bat and pad. It's right through and the stumps are knocked over. Sri Lanka losing wickets at regular intervals here, this is not good.
  • 8.1 Hasan Ali with a full delivery outside off, driven square on the wicket on the off side for a run.
  • 7.6 Direct hit and he would have been gone! Priyanjan works this towards mid-wicket and takes off. Shadab himself gets to the ball, slides and quickly turns to have a shy at his end. It misses, but had he hit, Ashan was a goner. 50/2
  • 7.5 Tossed up outside off, Sadeera lifts it over the cover area with utmost ease. There is a man in the deep so only a single results.
  • 7.4 Googly on leg, it's short in length yet again, Ashan makes a little room and works it in front of square leg. One run added to the total.
  • 7.3 Touch shorter in length again, flicked through square leg for a single.
  • 7.2 Dropped short again, it's spinning away from around off, Priyanjan goes deep inside his crease and drags the pull to wide long on for a run.
  • 7.1 Straighter, flatter and just outside off, Samarawickrama skips down the track and whips it behind square leg for one.
  • The leggie Shadab Khan will roll his arm over.
  • 6.6 Swing and a miss! Shaping back in slightly from around off, Priyanjan with an attempted hoick which misses. Goes under his bat and just past the off stick. 44/2
  • 6.5 Bumper just outside off, Ashan leaves and evades. Looks to square leg umpire for a wide but he doesn't respond.
  • 6.4 Angles it back in again, on a bit of a fuller length, catches Samarawickrama on the pads who misses his flick. Stifled appeal for a leg before, but it's always going down leg. Quick leg bye taken.
  • 6.3 Good length delivery well outside off, Priyanjan drives it on the up through towards sweeper cover for a single.
  • 6.2 Comes wide of the crease and angles it in full on off, once again it's hit down the ground but it's a bit scuffed. A single is still taken.
  • 6.1 Begins with a full length delivery on off stump, it's driven down the ground off the inner half. Single taken by the batsmen.
  • Fahim Ashraf is into the attack now.
  • 5.6 Outside off on a good length, left alone. That brings an end to the Powerplay, Sri Lanka are 40/2. 40/2
  • 5.5 FOUR! Edged and it's away! Short again from the pacer, it rises too quickly which sees Sadeera not connect well with the pull at all. It takes a big top edge and goes over the keeper's head for a boundary.
  • 5.4 Sharp one from Hasan Ali. Bangs it short and keeps it very close to off, Samarawickrama tries to cut it away but the bounce gets too high on him.
  • 5.3 Mixes it up, fires in full on off, dug out through mid-wicket off the inner half for a quick run.
  • 5.2 Touch short again and hurled outside off, Ashan throws his bat at this in the hopes of smashing it over covers, but fails to make connection.
  • 5.1 Short of a length delivery outside off, Sadeera steps out and cuts it behind point for just a single.
  • Hasan Ali will have a bowl now.
  • 4.6 Another walk down the track and another flick. In front of square leg and a single is taken. 34/2
  • 4.5 The batsman works it down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 4.4 Makes use of the feet to come down the wicket and works it through the square leg area for one run.
  • 4.3 A shout for an lbw from Imad, but that's never going to be given out. Darted outside off, Priyanjan walks out to flick but is caught on the pads. The impact is outside off hence the umpire doesn't entertain the appeal. It goes behind towards short third man as a leg bye is taken.
  • 4.2 Stays back to this quicker delivery and nudges it to square leg for a single.
  • 4.1 Flatter and shorter on middle and off, Sadeera comes down the track and blocks.
  • 3.6 Fuller in length and outside off, Priyanjan drives it square to the man at point. Brings an end to a successful over from the left-arm pacer. 29/2
  • 3.5 Just back of a length on middle and off, Priyanjan hangs back inside the crease and taps it down on the track beside him.
  • Ashan Priyanjan is the next batsman in.
  • 3.4 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Gunathilaka, who was starting to get a move on, has departed in search of the big one. Like most deliveries he's faced, he makes room again here and looks to clear the off side. Usman Khan bowls a length ball just outside off and it moves away ever so slightly. Takes the edge and it's a simple take for the Pakistan skipper behind the stumps. Sri Lanka lose their second, Usman with his first.
  • 3.3 Short of a good length, around off, kept out off the back foot solidly.
  • 3.2 FOUR! Good improvisation from Gunathilaka, he plays this shot often and executes it well too. Length ball angling down, the southpaw moves across and scoops it fine down the leg side. No chance for short fine leg to get to it, he can only watch the ball go away to the fence.
  • 3.1 Play and a miss! Length delivery on the stumps, pretty quick from Usman Khan. Gunathilaka makes room to lift it over the covers but misses. He's lucky here, there was some extra bounce off the surface which saw the ball go over the stumps.
  • 2.6 Sliding into the batsman, it's worked away behind square leg for a single. 25/1
  • 2.5 Samarawickrama dances down the track once more, it's a bit fuller in length and he whips it hard through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 2.4 Picks it off his pads this time and tucks it away towards the square leg area.
  • 2.3 Dropped short again outside off, punched off the back foot firmly to the left of wide mid on for a brisk single.
  • 2.2 Flatter and shorter outside off, Danushka moves a step across to flick it through mid-wicket. Runs the first one hard and as a result, is able to come back for the second.
  • 2.1 FOUR! Terrific placement from Gunathilaka. Fuller and quicker on middle, Danushka kneels down and sweeps this over backward square leg. Nobody out there which is why the ball will race away to the boundary line.
  • 1.6 Short of a good length outside off, Gunathilaka makes room and swings. Gets an edge down towards third man for a single. 16/1
  • 1.5 Coming back in on middle and leg, worked away square on the leg side for one.
  • 1.4 Nicely done. Back of a length on the body, fraction straight in line which enables Samarawickrama to lift it over square leg. He gets a couple of runs for doing so.
  • 1.3 Big flash and a miss! Risky, risky stuff, this. Hurled wider outside off and Samarawickrama throws his bat at this. Just about misses as the ball goes behind.
  • 1.2 Was there an edge? Every single player of the Pakistan team seems to think so. Excellent delivery from Usman Khan here, angles across a length delivery around off, Samarawickrama looks to work it across the line but is cut in half. Sarfraz collects the ball and everybody starts appealing loudly, only to witness the umpire remaining unmoved. Seems like it brushed the thigh pad, which created the sound. Sadeera survives.
  • 1.1 FOUR! That's a brilliant shot! Authoritative stuff from Samarawickrama. Length ball on middle and off, Sadeera walks down the track and goes across the line. Whips it powerfully over mid-wicket and picks up a boundary.
  • Usman Khan will bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 FOUR! Shot! Ends the over with a boundary. Fuller and outside off, Gunathilaka takes the aerial route and clears the infield over covers. Doesn't connect well but it's still enough to send it all the way to the fence for a boundary. 8/1
  • 0.5 Stays back to that and works it away on the leg side for one.
  • 0.4 Comes in on the pads, Sadeera with a nice flick towards deep square leg for a couple of runs.
  • Sadeera Samarawickrama is in at No.3.
  • 0.3 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! That's an absolute peach. Just the third delivery of the game and already a Lankan wicket has fallen. A bit of flight from Imad Wasim on off, it drifts in as Munaweera goes for the expansive drive. The ball goes right through bat and pad and knocks the top of middle stump. Not the kind of shot you want to be playing this early in the game, poor shot to be honest. He goes for a duck. Pakistan have an early wicket though.
  • 0.2 That was just going down. Slider on leg, keeps on moving down with the angle, Munaweera looks to whip it away but is caught on the pads.
  • 0.1 Starts off from around the wicket and darts it fuller and flatter on the stumps, Gunathilaka is off the mark with a flick off the back foot through square leg. Single taken.
  • We are all set to get underway as the players and the umpires make their way out in the middle. Danushka Gunathilaka and Dilshan Munaweera will open the innings for the Islanders, with Imad Wasim taking the new ball first up. Here we go...
  • Toss - Pakistan win the toss and opt to field!
  • Sri Lanka though, need to fire straightaway and win this first game, to gain a psychological edge at the very least. The whitewash in the ODIs will have left them at the bottom of the abyss, but on the flipside, it means the only way for them to move is upwards. They'll be under new leadership with Thisara Perera taking over the reins, so a fresh approach might do the visitors some good. The T20Is are a different ballgame altogether so Pakistan will be wary of the Lankans putting in a better performance here. Should be a good game.
  • Hello and welcome for the first of the 3 T20Is between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. After dishing out a thrashing in the 50-over format, Pakistan are soaring high and mighty at the moment. Everything is going right for them and they will undoubtedly want to carry the momentum into this last phase of the series. Their youngsters did most of the heavy lifting, with Hasan Ali and Babar Azam being the standout performers. Similar performances from them and the rest of the team would be expected.
  • So that's it for this game. Pakistan have lost only 2 T20Is (out of 12) since the World T20Is in 2016 - one against West Indies and the other against the World XI. Sri Lanka, if they are to beat this prolific team, have to get it right and get it right fast. The next game is tomorrow itself, at this same venue at 2000 local (1600 GMT). Do join us for it. Till then, cheers!
  • Sarfraz Ahmed says that it was a solid team effort. Applauds every single one of his players for putting in the work and getting the results. In T20Is, he mentions they try to focus on the basics and not pay more attention to the flashy things. Reckons that the team combination is the most important, but at the same time will give a chance to youngsters as much as they can. Feels that changing an already set team too much doesn't make much sense, so tries to keep it the same. Ends by saying that despite the fact that they didn't do too well in the Powerplay, they have the players at the top of the order to exploit that.
  • Thisara Perera says that if you look back at today's match, there are positives to take but it's no point if there are no runs on the board. Credits the bowlers for doing a good job. Goes on to say that this Pakistan bowling attack is one of the best he's seen in the last year and a half. Ends by saying that he has confidence in his team to do well in the next game.
  • Man of the Match, Usman Khan thanks the Almighty first. Just wants to keep working hard and do the best he can for the team. Mentions he gets good support from the management who encourage him to express himself and that helps him. States that today he was getting good pace and bounce right from the start so he didn't have to try too many variations. When asked if he can bat as well, he chuckles and says that he's an okay batsman. Just wants to enjoy his game and take each game as it comes. Ends by saying that he enjoys bowling with Fahim Ashraf the most, as he is a good bowler himself and good friend of his.
  • Sri Lanka continue on their downward spiral. It was thought they'd have put in a much more spirited performance after their dismal show in the ODI series, but they've continued with more of the same. Rudderless with the bat, which left their bowlers with not much to defend. The constant shuffling and changing of players in the side has left them falling short on almost every occasion. Stating the obvious, but plenty to work upon.
  • Another comfortable victory for the Men in Green. First did the job by bundling Sri Lanka up for just 102, with their bowlers putting in a complete collective performance. And now, with the bat. There was a mild scare at the start as they lost a few wickets relatively relatively early, but the partnership of 46 between Shoaib Malik and Ahmed Shehzad steadied things up and brought it back in their favour. Then, Malik joined up with his experienced partner Mohammad Hafeez and the two of them took their side home with almost 3 overs to spare.
  • 17.2 There it is! That's the job done. PAKISTAN WIN THIS MATCH BY 7 WICKETS! All it takes is for Mohammad Hafeez to offer a firm punch through the gap in the covers for a single. Handshakes in the Pakistan dugout, Malik and Hafeez congratulate each other, another one over the finish line.
  • 17.1 Full delivery pitched outside off, Hafeez plants his front foot forward and drives it through the covers for two runs.
  • Dasun Shanaka to bowl what might be the last over of the innings.
  • 16.6 Touch short again and the pull shot is played again by Malik. Helped down towards backward square leg for a double. The 100 is up for the Men in Green. Just 3 to win now for them. 100/3
  • 16.5 Sharp bumper around off, Shoaib Malik sways away from the line and avoids it.
  • 16.4 High full toss on the hips, nudged down towards fine leg for a comfortable run.
  • 16.3 Fired in very full, almost a yorker, driven with a slightly closed face to mid on.
  • 16.2 Outside off on a good length, placed behind point to get Hafeez on strike.
  • 16.1 Beautiful yorker on middle and off, angling in, Malik gets perfectly behind the line and keeps it at bay.
  • Isuru Udana is on again.
  • 15.6 Good control on the shot. Keeps the pull all along the ground through backward square leg for a single. Just 7 needed to win now for Pakistan. 96/3
  • 15.5 Nicely done. Just ahead of a length outside off, driven sweetly through the covers for a couple of easy runs.
  • 15.4 Dropped! That sums the Lankans on this tour with the white ball. Poor, so poor. Full on the pads, Hafeez flicks it high over mid-wicket. Munaweera out in the deep, moves to his left, is in perfect position to take it, but then drops a sitter. He takes it on the bounce in the second attempt but that doesn't count in international cricket. The batsmen take one.
  • 15.3 FOUR! Shot. Short into the body this time, Hafeez brings out the pull and connects this time. Gets it through backward square leg and across the boundary line.
  • 15.2 Short of a good length outside off, Hafeez takes on the powerful pull but the bounce gets too big on him. Misses it altogether and it's taken by the keeper.
  • 15.1 Shaping in on the pads, Malik flicks it through the mid-wicket area for a single.
  • 14.6 Flat and short outside off, a punched is offered to cover. 87/3
  • 14.5 Makes use of the feet, gets to the pitch and keeps it out.
  • 14.4 Loud shout from Prasanna, but nothing from the umpire. Slider on leg, it keeps going on with the angle. Hafeez is down to sweep but misses and is hit on the front pad. The Lankans think about the review, but then don't take it. Good decision, replays show that the ball was missing the leg stump.
  • 14.3 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 14.2 Flatter and shorter around off, blocked out off the back foot.
  • 14.1 FOUR! The moment that was ball tossed up, Hafeez knew what he was going to do. Knelt down and slogged it over mid-wicket. Flew just over the man in the deep and went across the rope on a bounce. Not an easy shot to play, that. Going against the turn is always difficult.
  • 13.6 Banged in short again, pulled away through square leg for one. 83/3
  • 13.5 Bumper from Perera, the batsman ducks and evades.
  • 13.4 Another one on the shorter side, outside off, cut away again, towards third man this time for a single.
  • 13.3 Short of a length outside off, crashed square through point for a run.
  • 13.2 Pretty close to the off pole on a length, Hafeez stays behind and keeps it out on the off side.
  • 13.1 FOUR! That's a super shot! Fuller in length on middle and off, Hafeez skips out and lofts it over mid on. Clears the infield with ease and sends it across the rope on a few bounces.
  • Thisara Perera brings himself on to bowl again.
  • 12.6 FOUR! He's picked the gap beautifully there. Shoaib Malik with another top shot. He's done that ever since he's come out to bat. Short and wide, he camps back and cuts it perfectly between point and backward point for a boundary. 76/3

Angling down the leg side, Shehzad looks to tickle it fine and ends up getting a feather behind. Samarawickrama moves to his right to collect and appeals instantly. The umpire takes a moment to think and then raises his finger. Shehzad doesn't even think of reviewing, just starts walking back to the dugout. The 46-run stand has been broken.
  • 11.2 Short of a good length on middle and off, Malik off the back foot pulls it along the ground through the leg side for one.

  • 10.5 Full and in line of the stumps, driven towards mid on for a brisk single.
  • 10.4 FOUR! That's a dangerous shot to play. Too close to comfort. Length delivery which keeps a little low, quite close to the off stump as Malik tries to run it down to third man. It takes the inside edge and goes past Sadeera away to the fine leg fence.

  • SHOAIB MALIK walks in at number 4, replacing Babar.
  • 5.1 OUT! Babar Azam is gone for his first single-digit score in T20Is! Big, big wicket. Pathirana gets his man. He tosses this up outside off and Babar is enticed into going after him. He jumps down the track but is beaten in flight. Sadeera Samarawickrama collects the ball nicely, around his chest and whips the bails off. It is referred upstairs and the third umpire confirms the bad news.
  • STUMPED? Referred upstairs... Babar Azam is the man in question. This could be a big moment.

  • SACHITH PATHIRANA to bowl now. The Munaweera experiment is over.

  • 2.5 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 2.5 WIDE. Oops... mega wide. Attempted slower ball, fuller in length, goes miles down the leg side. Left alone.

  • BABAR AZAM, the run machine, walks in at number 3, replacing Zaman.
  • 2.3 OUT! The leg stump is out of the ground! Sanjaya has struck. Though, that is more because of the rash shot from Zaman. He might have wanted to make a statement, fails to trouble the scorers instead. The delivery was full, around middle and leg and Fakhar, just jumped down the track and had a wild swing. He missed, the length being almost a yorker at the point of contact and the ball swung in late to topple the leg pole. Beautifully bowled but that was a rash shot. One down, Sri Lanka need 9 more to win.

  • 0.4 Bit fullish in length just outside off, Zaman gets to the pitch of the ball and slices it to point.
  • 0.3 Oh, that could have been out! No timing at all from Zaman. Length ball outside off, the southpaw mistimes the pull, off the bottom of the bat down towards mid on. Perera is the man there, he moves to his right and dives, but the ball just about evades him. It nearly goes all the way to the boundary. That was terribly close, Sri Lanka would have hoped for that to stick. Two runs taken.
  • 0.2 Full again but attacking the stumps this time, Zaman drives it hard but finds short mid-wicket.
  • 0.1 Spears it full and swings it back in late to the left-hander, Fakhar Zaman digs it back out to the bowler.
  • We are back for the chase. Fakhar Zaman and Ahmed Shehzad will open the innings for Pakistan. Vikum Sanjaya will be taking the ball first for the Lankans. Quick wickets are what they need. A slip in place. Let's roll...
