  • Sri Lanka on the other hand, started off really well but could not continue to build the pressure. Perera and Dananjaya were quite expensive. Gamage also, took some beating towards the end. Vandersay and Lakmal both bowled well for them but were not supported by the rest. The visitors have a stiff task ahead of them and they will have to break their own record of the highest run chase on this ground. They will have to bat out of their skins on a wicket which is providing some assistance to the bowlers. The hosts would back themselves as they have a brilliant bowling line-up. Join us for the chase in a while.
  • A very good batting performance by Pakistan and they will be the happier side heading into the break after being put into bat. They lost Shehzad early but Babar Azam who scored a brilliant ton played the anchoring role. He was supported well by Hafeez and Zaman but his 139-run stand with Malik which came in less than a run-a-ball was the highlight of the innings.
  • 49.6 Full outside off, Ali charges down but misses. A dot ball to end the over! PAKISTAN FINISH ON 292/6!
  • 49.5 FOUR! Dananjaya, what are you doing! This is a time to keep calm and not lose it! Perera spears it very full outside off, Ali slices it towards sweeper cover. Akila rushes to the ball but after bouncing the ball spins away and goes for a boundary. He's done in by his own trick here - spin of the ball!
  • 49.4 Slower delivery around middle, pushed down to long off for a run. Wasim wanted a second but had to settle for one.
  • 49.3 SIX! Humongous! Smoked! Timely blow! Perera hurls it on a length around middle, Wasim uses all his power and hits it over long on for a maximum. Pakistan wouldn't mind more of these!
  • 49.2 Another full ball outside off, flat-batted through cover-point for a brace.
  • 49.1 Perera bowls this full and wide with a slingy action, Wasim looks to flay at that but misses.

  • 48.3 WIDE! Fired down the leg side, Wasim misses the flick. But they collect a bye even as the keeper collects and throws it.
  • The next man in is Hasan Ali.
  • 48.2 OUT! Pakistan have switched on their self-destruction mode it seems! At the business end of the innings, they are losing wickets quickly to be devoid of any momentum. It is bowled around middle and off, Azam looks to smash it out of the park but gets it high off the bat. The long on fielder, Dananjaya, settles under it and takes it. End of a terrific knock here at a vital time for his side, the coach applauds the effort too!
  • 48.1 Lakmal lands it around middle and leg, Azam turns it off his hips through square leg. They hare back for the second even as the throw is fired at the keeper's end. • 47.5 OUT! The skipper's gone now! Thank you for coming, says Perera! He hurls a slower delivery around off, Ahmed looks to slog it away. Gets a top edge that goes to the fielder, Tharanga, at point. The Pakistan coach is seen fuming there as that wicket fell. Sri Lanka would be happy to see the back of a potential good hitting batsman cheaply!
  • 47.4 That's ODI hundred no. 6 for Azam! What a responsible knock this has been. He took his time to settle in before going on a run-scoring spree. Take a bow, young man. Ball - around middle and leg, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.

  • 45.6 Another slower ball, driven down the ground by Malik. Chandimal hares to his left, puts in the dive and saves a couple of runs for his side. As he did so, his right knee got stuck on the field and he is hurt in the process. He looks to be in some pain. 258/3
  • 45.5 FOUR! Technically it is a drop. Perera bowls a slower delivery around middle, Malik gets down on one knee and looks to go over the leg side. Ends up offering a skier towards deep square leg where Siriwardana completely misjudges it. Fails to get a hand to it and concedes a boundary.

Sri Lanka won't be unhappy as they haven't let the opposition run away with the game. What would be hurting them is the fact that they have lost their lone review. They'd hope they won't need it hence.

However, Dickwella collects and puts in a confident appeal for a caught behind. The umpire doesn't seem interested in that and proceeds to signal a wide. • Hello everybody! It's time for the white-ball cricket to get rolling. Welcome to our coverage for the first ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka from the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The tourists would love to erase the memories from the series against India and look to carry forward their form from the Tests here. The hosts, on the other hand, are playing their first ODI since the Champions Trophy and they would look to begin on a positive note as well. Stay with us, for what promises to be a high-octane clash of the two Asian sides.
  • So that is it from us for this game! Pakistan have put in an all-round performance to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Sri Lanka were pretty poor and let us hope they learn from their mistakes and come out fighting. Will we see the visitors level the series in the next game? It will be played on the 16th of October in Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi (1100 GMT), 1500 local. Till then, good bye and cheers!
  • Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed starts by thanking the almighty. Credits his batsman and bowlers for the way they played. Reckons he has a lot of options with the ball and he makes full use of those. Opines the conditions here are favorable for batting first. Ends by saying the experienced players gave them confidence after the loss in the Test series.
  • Sri Lankan skipper, Upul Tharanga says they lost five wickets cheaply. Mentions at one stage they could have kept them under 270 but were sloppy in the field towards the end. He feels the batsmen need to take responsibility and score big in the next game.
  • Man of the Match, Shoaib Malik says they were bowling well in the middle overs. Admits rotating the strike was important. Further adds a few dot balls can be covered in the end. Credits Babar Azam and Hafeez for their innings. Mentions when you have experience you need to stand up when the team is down.
  • The Sri Lankan batsmen did not apply themselves in and there was only one 50-run stand in their innings. Lahiru Thirimanne and Akila Dananjaya were the only two who showed some fight but it was never going to be enough. Earlier in the day, the away side managed to win the toss and put the home side into bat. They set a massive 293 as a target courtesy of a hundred from Babar Azam and a breezy 81 from Shoaib Malik. The target proved to be too much for the visitors as the Pakistan bowlers kept chipping away at the wickets and made it difficult for them. Stay tuned for the presentation.
  • The Lankans have been blown away by Pakistan. Chasing 293 was never going to be easy and they got off to the worst start possible losing Dickwella early and then they never recovered. Ruman Raees ran through the top order and then Hasan Ali made a mockery of the middle order.
