  • The Indian bowling, on the other hand, was flat to start off with. The pace bowlers had no answers to the early onslaught and it all came down to their spinners who once again came to the fore. The spin twin of Kuldeep and Chahal got the ball to grip and brought the game back in the favour of the hosts. Combined, they took 6 wickets in 20 overs and gave away only 88 runs, sensational stuff! The Lankan bowlers will have to bowl out of their skins if they are to restrict the home side. The wicket is offering assistance to the spinners and they would feel if they can get the openers early, they can stand themselves a chance as the hosts' middle order is fairly inexperienced. Will they be able to win their first ODI series on Indian soil? Join us in a bit for the run chase...
  • A stunning comeback by the Indians have seen them head into the break as a happier side. After being asked to bat, Sri Lanka lost Gunathilaka early but that didn't seem to hamper their aggressive approach at all. Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama started to attack and took everyone by surprise. They shared a blazing 121-run stand off 113 balls before the latter departed. Still the visitors were going great guns, but the wicket of Tharanga just changed the complexion of the game. From 160-2, they got wrapped up for a paltry 215, losing their next 8 wickets for just 55 runs.
  • 44.5 OUT! That's it! Kumar wraps it up. He gets his first of the match. He lands it on a length outside off, Gunaratne tries to guide it down towards third man but gets an outside edge to Dhoni who pouches it. SRI LANKA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 215!

  • 43.5 Bowled on the stumps, defended by the batsman.
  • 43.4 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 43.3 Three in a row! This one also stays low. Chahal floats it on off, the ball turns away from the batsman and also stays low. Pradeep tries to keep it out but gets beaten.
  • 43.2 BEATEN AGAIN! Flatter this time on middle, gets it to turn away. Pradeep does not play for the turn and is undone by it.
  • 43.1 Beauty to start with! Chahal tosses it up on middle and then gets it to turn away sharply. Pradeep tries to defend but gets beaten.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal is brought back into the attack.
  • 42.6 No run off the last ball! Full and wide outside off, Gunaratne fails to put bat to it and Pradeep will be on strike for the next over. 215/9

The ball hits him on the front pad and the Indians appeal. Pandya is celebrating even before he has started appealing and the umpire raises his finger. Lakmal straightaway starts walking to the dressing room as he knows he is a goner. Nuwan Pradeep will be last man in now.
  • Powerplay 3 has been signaled. Now a maximum of 5 fielders can be placed outside the circle.
  • 39.6 The batsman plays the pull shot. They pick up a single. 211/8
  • Suranga Lakmal strides out at no. 10.
  • 39.5 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! They are falling like a pack of cards here. Kuldeep gets his third and the move to bring him on has paid dividends immediately. He floats it full on leg stump, Dananjaya goes down on one knee and tries to sweep it but misses and the ball hits the stumps. Not a good idea to sweep the ball which is so full.
  • 39.4 Very full outside off, Gunaratne drives it through covers for a run.
  • 39.3 Floats it up on off, Akila sweeps it through square leg for a run.

A length delivery on the stumps, Sachith swings his bat but gets it off the toe-end of the bat towards mid on. Chahal there backpedals a bit and takes a safe catch. What a turnaround this is from India. Will Sri Lanka play out their quota of 50 overs?

  • 36.5 The batsman was beaten and missed the line of the delivery.
  • 36.4 Stands tall and pokes it towards point.
  • 36.3 Chance of a run out! Kumar fails to collect the ball and Asela Gunaratne gets a huge reprieve! Angles it away outside off, Pathirana taps it towards point where Karthik makes a diving stop to his left. Asela wants the single and is almost at the other end before his partner sends him back. • 35.1 OUT! That is plumb! The Indian spinners have turned it around completely. Chahal gets his third and the dangerous Perera is walking back. Once again, the turning ball is causing the problems for the Sri Lankan batsmen. Chahal lands it outside off and gets it to turn back sharply. The ball was also bowled a touch quicker and hence Thisara gets beaten as he is late to defend it off the back foot. The ball sneaks through and hits the back pad. The Indian players appeal and the umpire raises his finger immediately. Perera walks up to his partner and after a chat, reviews it. Replays roll in and Ultra Edge shows there is no bat involved and Hawk Eye shows it to be umpire's call which is out. Perera is given his marching orders. Sri Lanka though don't lose a review as it is umpire's call. Another one bites the dust for the Lankans and now the Indians will hope to wrap it up quickly.
  • Thisara is a goner! He has been adjudged LBW but after a chat with Asela he reviews. To be honest only an inside edge can save him there.
  • 34.6 Works it towards mid-wicket for a run. 197/5

  • 33.5 OUT! TIMBER! Mathews is walking back. A huge wicket for the Indians. This is also the first time he has been dismissed in this series and it's a gem to get rid of him. Chahal bowls a flighted ball, which first drifts into the batsman, pitches on middle and then turns away sharply. Mathews lunges forward but does not play for the turn and eventually gets undone by it. The ball hits the top of off and Yuzvendra is ecstatic. Mathews can't believe what just happened and slowly starts to trudge back. Sri Lanka are completely losing the plot and the Indian spinners are once again weaving their magic.

Smart bowling from Yadav. He once again bowls a slower delivery outside off, Dickwella once again tries to repeat the previous shot but this time he guides it straight into the hands of Shreyas Iyer at first slip. Sri Lanka are in a bit of bother now.

Another big wicket as Tharanga was looking really dangerous. Kuldeep tosses it up outside off, Upul looks to drive it but the ball turns away and he gets beaten. Dhoni behind the stumps collects the ball and waits for a bit and then takes the bails off. He appeals and the umpire refers it upstairs. Replays show Tharanga hasn't dragged his back leg behind. • Angelo Mathews walks out to the middle. He is fresh of a ton in the last game. Can he replicate his form here?
  • 22.3 OUT! Chahal provides the breakthrough and the crowd erupts. A much-needed one for the Indians. A false shot again by Sadeera, he has been riding his luck throughout the innings but this time he runs out of it. Yuzvendra tosses it up outside off, gets it to turn away. Samarawickrama comes down the track but does not quite get to the pitch of the ball. He still tries to go inside out but only manages to slice it to the man at sweeper cover. Dhawan there positions himself under it and takes it. He also performs his trademark celebration which they call it as a thigh-five by turning towards the crowd. He sets off for a run but then is sent back by his partner as there was never a run there. The fielder fires a throw to Dhoni who takes the bails off in a flash as Sadeera dives to get back in. The players appeal but not with a lot of conviction and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays show that he has made his crease comfortably.

He does not get the elevation desired. The ball goes towards Dinesh Karthik who laps high and tries to take it but can't. • 19.1 Works it with the spin towards mid-wicket.

  • 17.1 Yadav tosses it up around off, Tharanga prods forward to drive but the ball grips and then turns away to leave him stunned.
  • Drinks are on the field. This is some start for Sri Lanka. They have come out with a lot of intent and it has worked so far for them. Tharanga has already notched up his fifty while Samarawickrama has done justice to his selection. The Indians need to break this stand and it will be interesting to see if the spinners can put a lid on the scoring rate now...
  • 16.6 Slightly shorter in length around off, spinning in. Tharanga, easily works it towards mid-wicket to change strike. 100 up for Lanka and that too in quick time. They will be delighted with how things have gone. 100/1

  • Bright sunshine welcomes us here in Visakhapatnam. The Indian team is in a huddle near the boundary and now they walk to the middle. Upul Tharanga and Danushka Gunathilaka will open the batting for Sri Lanka. They will hope to provide their team with a good start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will open the bowling for India. He has two slips in place. Here we go...
  • Both the teams along with the umpires walk out for their respective national anthems. The away side will sing first, followed by India's.
  • Sri Lankan skipper, Thisara Perera feels it is a really good wicket to bat on. He says they would want to put up a good score on the board. Opines the dew might come into play in the evening but the wicket is still good for batting and once again focuses on the need to get a big score. Admits they did not bowl well in the last game and would need to execute the plans properly today. Informs even they have made 1 change, SADEERA SAMARAWICKRAMA comes in place of Lahiru Thirimanne.
  • Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma says, they will bowl first. Opines it is hot for now but as the game goes on it will cool down. Mentions dew is the reason for them to bowl first. • PITCH REPORT - Sunil Gavaskar and Russel Arnold feel this is a very good batting pitch. Further add it is nice and hard. Reckon the bowlers can get a little bit of bounce and lift as there is some grass in the middle. Opine the cracks won't make much of a difference as it is an ODI game. Win the toss and bowl first as dew might come into play later on, say the two.
  • On the other hand, India, head into the game as heavy favorites. They dissolved any queries of being a fragile batting line-up in the absence of Kohli in the last game. Rohit Sharma will hope for a repeat performance. The home side possess a strong bowling attack and they would like them to come to the fore today. Will we see the Sri Lankans cause an upset or will the Indians go on to clinch yet another series at home? We will have to wait to find out. Stay tuned for the toss and further updates.
  • Sri Lanka will be eager for a win today, as it would give them their long-awaited series win in India which will also be their first series win this year. Their batsmen will have to deliver with the bat and their bowlers cannot give away easy runs here. A collective effort is what they will need and that is exactly what Perera will be hoping for.
  • Many would have thought the series should be done and dusted by the third ODI but that's not the case. A whitewash was what a lot were expecting at the start of the series but here we are for the decider between India and Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam, where both the teams have everything to play for. After two lopsided affairs let us hope that we get a close one here. Hello and welcome to our coverage, folks.
  • That is it! The Indian team is seen posing with the trophy. Another series win for them. Their 8th consecutive bilateral ODI series win. They continue their domination at home and also over the Lankans. The hosts now have turn their attention to the 20-over format also for the Lankans, who have a last chance to end a disappointing year on a high. The shortest format does throw a lot of surprises and it will be interesting to see if it there is any in the first T20I which will be played on 20th of December in Cuttack at 0700 Local (0130 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!

  • The Sri Lanka bowling looked clueless but to be honest the match was lost in the first innings itself when they could not capitalize on the platform set by Samarawickrama and Tharanga. From 160-2 to 215 all out in a decider, not always do you end on the right side of the result. When they came out to bowl, they had to pick up wickets and too in heaps. Their ploy of starting with a spinner did pay off but the rest of the bowlers lacked ideas and were taken to the cleaners which has only exceeded their wait to win an ODI series in India. Hang on, we have Shreyas Iyer alongside Sanjay Manjrekar for an interview...
  • A dominating performance by India to clinch the series! They have made a mockery of the run chase to say the least. Sri Lanka did strike early with the wicket of Rohit Sharma and with the ball turning and doing all sorts of things it looked like the visitors would make a match of this. But it wasn't meant to be. The attacking duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer, gave no respite to the Lankan bowlers. Right from the outset, they played their shots and in no time took the game away from the visitors with their 135-run stand.
