  • The Indian spinners were impressive in the middle overs. The trio of Kuldeep, Jadhav and Patel hunted down four wickets and gave away only 134 runs in their combined 30 overs. The pitch is a good one for batting but it's supposed to slow down. However, dew might be a factor which won't help Australia's cause. Let's see how the chase pans out. Do join us in a short while.
  • It was the 87-run partnership between Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis which revived their innings a bit but once they departed it was again a struggle for the Aussies. The lower order just failed to get going against the accurate Indian bowling and eventually managed a below par total.
  • After winning yet another toss and electing to bat, the visitors got off to a brilliant start. Their in-form openers, David Warner and Aaron Finch, once again looked in the mood and played some good shots to set the tone. However, the wicket of Finch, later followed by Smith initiated a collapse. They lost three wickets in a jiffy for only 18 runs and were staring down the barrel.
  • Impressive death bowling by India! Once again Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar were simply outstanding in their job, especially towards the end and never allowed Australia off the hook. Their effectiveness was so much that the Aussies managed just a single boundary in the last 50 balls. Outstanding stuff from the Men in Blue and they head into the break with the momentum on their side.
  • 49.6 OUT! The off stump goes for a walk! Bhuvneshwar angles in a full ball around off, angling in, Coulter-Nile clears his front leg and swings his bat blindly across the line. Misses the ball completely and the off stump is uprooted. Australia end on 242/9!
  • Nathan Coulter-Nile walks in next!
  • 49.5 OUT! Faulkner is run out! A length ball outside off, Faulkner bends his back knee and goes aerially over mid on. Doesn't carry to Hardik this time in the deep. James however wants the second run and turns for it. Pandya fires in a flat throw to the keeper and Dhoni takes the bails off quickly. Not even in the frame, Faulkner.
  • 49.4 Too full in length and on middle, Cummins eases it down to long on for a single.
  • 49.3 Forces a length ball through covers for one.
  • 49.2 Short and on off, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 49.1 Dropped by Hardik Pandya! Faulkner aims to go downtown, attempts to clear long on but fails to make proper connection. Pandya although drops a sitter in the deep. A single taken.
  • Pat Cummins walks in next.
  • 48.6 OUT! End of the Wade show! An 18-ball 20 from him. His little knock was studded with shots from toe end of the bat. A full toss by Bumrah to which Wade swings his blade. It catches the outer half of the bat and Rahane at sweeper cover catches the ball with utmost ease. 237/7
  • 48.5 Too full in length on middle, drilled down to long on for a single.
  • 48.4 Ho! Ho! Ho! Wade is putting on a comedy show. Ball is flying, bat is flying, only the Australian innings ain't flying. A low full toss on off, Wade swings and swings hard. Loses the grip and the bat flies behind. A little connection which was made sends the ball in the air and it lands safely inside the circle at covers. A single taken.
  • 48.3 Stays back to a shortish ball and punches it through extra cover for a single.
  • 48.2 Bumrah keeps his line straight and Wade lofts it over mid on. It goes on the bounce to the fielder in the deep and they take a single.
  • 48.1 Run out chance missed! Poor from Bumrah, there. A length ball on off, Faulkner swings it from the lower half of the bat to deep mid-wicket and wants the second run. Wade however is not interested. Luckily for Australia, Bumrah fails to collect the throw from the deep and eventually Faulkner makes it safely. Only one added to the total.
  • 47.6 A low full toss on the pads, following the batsman down the leg side, James just manages to dig it out through mid on and retains strike with a single. 12 from the over! 232/6
  • 47.5 Too full in length on off, Wade drives it down to long off and rotates the strike.
  • 47.4 A touch short in length on middle, Wade swings his bat across the line, throws all his power behind it but still fails to get the proper connection. It goes on one drop to the fielder in the deep mid-wicket region and they take a couple.
  • 47.3 A low full toss on middle, Faulkner forces it down to long on for a single. Hardik was very swift to get to the ball in the deep.
  • 47.2 Kumar replies with a terrific fuller length ball on middle, Wade squeezes it out past the diving bowler for a single.
  • 47.1 SIX! Wade finally connects one from the middle of the bat. A length delivery outside off, Matthew exercises his arms and sends it packing over long off for a maximum.
  • 46.6 Slower delivery, on a shortish length around middle, Wade waits and eases it behind square leg for a single. 220/6
  • 46.5 Serves one on the pads, Wade tries to heave over the leg side but is early into his swing of the bat. It takes the bottom edge and goes in the vacant mid-wicket area. A couple of runs taken.
  • 46.4 Full and on leg, Faulkner digs it out to mid-wicket for a single.
  • 46.3 Angling away from the batsman, fuller in length, Wade slices his drive square of the wicket on the off side for a single.
  • 46.2 A yorker around off, Wade tries to be fancy. Attempts to play the paddle scoop but once again it kisses the toe end of his bat and rolls back to the bowler. His idea is right but not the execution.
  • 46.1 Slightly short in length outside off, Faulkner goes hard at it and hits it without much force to mid off. They cross for a single.
  • 45.6 Full and wide outside off, Wade tries driving through covers but it takes the toe end of the bat and rolls back to the bowler. 214/6
  • 45.5 Terrific bowling. Full and straight, Wade gets behind the line and hits it back to the bowler.
  • 45.4 Straighter in line, it's quietly played behind square leg for a single.
  • 45.3 Drops it on a length just around off, not enough room again, Faulkner gives the charge but mistimes his punch shot to covers.
  • 45.2 Back of a length ball on off, Wade gets across the stumps a bit and pulls it across the line. Not enough timing but it rolls in the gap at mid-wicket for a single.
  • 45.1 Angles in a length ball on middle, Faulkner eases it off his pads through backward square leg for a single.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back on.
  • 44.6 Outside off, Faulkner pushes at it and misses. Dhoni fumbles a bit and they steal a bye. Tremendous over by JB! 211/6
  • 44.5 Good length ball on off, defended from the back foot.
  • 44.4 NOT OUT! It has bounced in front. Good length delivery outside off, Faulkner tries to run it down to third man but it takes the outside edge and goes behind. It's dying in front of Dhoni who gets down low to grab it. However, he is not sure that he has taken it cleanly. The umpires come together and refer it upstairs. Soft signal is out. The replays though confirm it just bounced in front of Dhoni's gloves.
  • James Faulkner has been caught behind by Dhoni via a tumbling effort. The Indian keeper isn't sure if he's taken it cleanly, so it's taken upstairs to confirm. The soft signal is out.
  • 44.3 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • In walks James Faulkner.
  • 44.2 OUT! Stoinis has to depart! Bumrah gets a length ball to shape back into the batsman from around off, Stoinis tries playing across the line but misses and is thudded on the pads. They appeal and the finger goes up. Marcus has a chat with his partner who advises him to take the referral. The Hawk Eye shows that the impact is with the umpire's call and it's hitting the stumps. Stoinis has to walk back, like Head, he also misses out on his fifty.
  • Appeal for an lbw against Marcus Stoinis. Up goes the finger. Stoinis has a chat with Wade and opts for the DRS.
  • 44.1 Good length ball on off, defended back.
  • Jasprit Bumrah returns to the bowling attack.
  • 43.6 Turning away from the batsman, Wade opens the face of the bat but fails to generate much timing. Rolls to first slip. 210/5
  • 43.5 Sliding down the leg side, a fine sweep shot by Wade to fine leg for a brace.
  • 43.4 Drags his length short around off, Marcus hits it through covers for one.

  • 43.1 Turning away from the batsman, punched down to sweeper cover for a single.
  • Matthew Wade walks in next.
  • 42.6 OUT! Bowled 'em! Axar spears in a fuller length ball in the line of the middle stump, Head is caught in two minds, initially shapes up for the sweep shot but then tries to heave it over the leg side. The length is not quite there and also he seems to get beaten by the pace. It sneaks through and goes on to rattle the stumps. End of an 87-run stand, devil's number for Australia. It strikes. 205/5
  • 42.5 Drifting down the leg side, Stoinis nudges it to fine leg for a run.

  • 41.5 In the air... safe! Stoinis is living dangerously here. A flighted ball around leg, a googly, Stoinis runs down the track to heave it over the leg side but it takes the outside edge. Flies in the air but goes on one bounce to Axar at backward point.
  • 41.4 Stoinis survives! Floated full ball on middle and off, Marcus tries to sweep but fails to middle it. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal and the umpire raises his finger after thinking for a while. Stoinis opts for the DRS and the Ultra Edge detects a bottom edge.

  • 41.3 Hangs on the back foot and punches it down to long off for a single.

  • 41.1 Short and wide outside off, Head punches it to sweeper cover for a couple of runs.
  • 40.6 Darts into the batsman, around middle, 90 kph, Stoinis goes back to hit it straight but it takes the inside edge and speeds down to fine leg for a couple of runs. 195/4

  • 39.5 Goes on the back foot and punches it through covers for a run.
  • 39.4 Flighted full ball on off, spinning in, Marcus shimmies down the track for a big shot but gets it away from the inner half of the bat. It goes over mid-wicket, now there is a fielder in that zone, and hence only a single.
  • 39.3 Walks down the track and brings his bat and pad together in defense.

  • Drinks break. After a flurry of wickets, the current partnership has steadied things up. The pitch is looking on the slower side, so, Australia should not be aiming too high. 13 overs left in the innings, if both Head and Stoinis last the distance, the visitors can expect at least another 100 to their total. India would have to do better in their death bowling than the last game.

  • 4.1 FOUR! That's a great shot, plenty of bottom hand involved. Back of a length delivery just around off, Warner goes back and plays a half-pull, half-flick shot. Timing is good and the outfield does the rest. It races away in front of square leg and crosses the fence in no time. Suddenly, there is a flurry of boundaries for Australia.
  • 3.6 Shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. 9 from the over, a good one for Australia! 14/0

  • 2.6 Angling away from the batsman, outside off, David taps it down on the off side and calls his partner through for a quick single. 5/0

  • 2.1 Shout for an lbw! Good length ball in the line of the stumps, Warner stays back to hit it across the line but misses and is hit high on the back pad. They appeal and the batsmen cross as the ball travels to third man. Too high to be given out, shows the replay. Also, it's given as a run. Maybe, some inside edge.

  • It's time to get underway. The in-form openers of Australia, David Warner and Aaron Finch stride out to the middle. India are beginning with the pace and swing of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. A false start first up as Warner saw some disturbance near the sightscreen. But all set now. Two slips in place...
  • National anthem time. The players from both sides are out in the centre.
  • Virat Kohli says they need to get the processes right when they come out to play. Adds he expected Australia to fight back hard but his side played a good game of cricket in the last game. States the incentives are plenty every time you walk out to play. Opines the pitch looks pretty hard and it won't change too much, so it wouldn't have mattered even if his team batted first. Feels today's game will be an even contest. Reminds everyone that they chased down 350 last time they played Australia here, so that's a good thing for them. Ends by saying that there are three changes - Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav are in for Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami.
  • Steven Smith says they will have a bat first. Mentions the wicket looks pretty dry and mostly it will slow down as the game goes on. States they want to put up a good total first up. Let's everybody know it was nice to win the last one as they did well with the bat to get 330. Hopes to do the same today. Informs they have one forced change - Kane Richardson is sick and James Faulkner comes in his place.
  • Toss - Up goes the coin, Steven Smith once again calls it correctly, third time in a row, and AUSTRALIA WILL BAT!
  • Pitch - It's a relaid one and should be a lot better. It has a very dry look to it and there should be ample turn. Sunil Gavaskar, as always, feels it's a belter and he is expecting 300-plus on this pitch. Also, dew will be a factor later in the evening.
  • Australia on the other hand will be relieved after finally returning to winning ways away from home. They played a near perfect game in Bengaluru and would like to keep the same intensity. We are expecting a cracking contest on a Sunday afternoon, sit back and enjoy the commentary.
  • Welcome folks for the final ODI of the series. It's been a hard fought one, however, the results don't reflect the same. Both teams have had their share of opportunities in all the four past games but it's India who have dominated the key moments to go 3-1 up. The hosts would like to end on a high and there is an extra incentive for doing it - regaining the number one spot in ODIs.
  • That's it from us! The ODI series has come to close and India have won convincingly. Australia may have been outclassed, but there are positives for them to take and work on. They're going to have to do it quick too as the T20I series will begin in a few days. It's a different format and they have a fresh chance to bounce back. The first game will take place on 7th October in Ranchi at 1900 local (1330 GMT). Do join us for all the action. Till then, goodbye and take care!
  • Indian captain, Virat Kohli says he is feeling really good and it was a very convincing series win for them. Adds that they have repeated what they did in Sri Lanka and he is really proud and happy. Further adds that the management is playing a massive role in motivating the players. Feels that they ticked most of the boxes in the series. Also says that Bhuvi and Bumrah were outstanding for them, class apart, and that's been the difference. Has a word of praise for the spinners and terms Hardik Pandya as the biggest positive of the series. On competition within the side, Kohli replies that it's a good headache to have, better to have in-form players than those not up to the mark. Credits the hard work of his boys for all the success.
  • Man of the Series, Hardik Pandya says life is pretty good. Further says it's good to bat at No.4 and do good in the series. States there is always scope for improvement in everything he does. Adds that he works on his fitness and places a lot of importance on that. Ends by saying the different batting positions aren't what he's used to, so it's a learning experience for him.
  • Man of the Match, Rohit Sharma says he is fine, just cramps as the weather is hot here. Adds that he keeps it very simple and that has worked for him. Feels that he still has certain areas to work on and he is aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Also adds that it was tough initially and he decided to get his eye in first. Informs it was more about rotating the strike and he kept talking with his partner. Says that he loves playing against Australia as they are very competitive and that brings the best out of him.
  • Australian captain, Steven Smith says he thinks they were probably 30 runs under par. Adds his openers gave his side a good start but lost wickets in clumps later. Is disappointed with result and admits there obviously are a lot of things to work on. Thinks his team needs to get the right balance and put consistent performances on the board. Opines India thoroughly deserved to win the series 4-1. Is staunch when he says a lot of his players have played a lot of cricket in India so can't use 'a lack of experience' as an excuse. Feels they just have to be consistent and play well. States they have to keep a positive frame of mind, take the good things from this series and build on that. Further says his team is going to let this go pretty quickly and focus on the T20Is. Ends saying they want to go home with a trophy.
  • Australia didn't have the best of days today. A lot more was expected off them, especially after how they performed in the previous game. They threw away yet another start with the bat to end up with an under par score on the board, which was courtesy some quality bowling from the Indian spinner. And then, were toothless with the ball. They lacked inspiration and ultimately succumbed to the Indian onslaught they endured. A day to forget for them. Don't go anywhere, the presentation will be coming up in a bit...
  • A thumping performance from the Men in Blue. With this victory, they've won the series 4-1 and regained the No.1 spot in ODIs. A century stand set the tone for the game before Rahane departed after scoring yet another fifty. Jadhav and Pandey came in and added the finishing touches on a stunning chase.

  • 38.1 Flat and going straight outside off, Kohli opens the face of the bat and guides it to third man for a single.
  • 38.1 Not out! Seemed safe to the naked eye as well. Faulkner from around the wicket angles it down the leg side, Kohli looks to tickle it fine and Wade collects the ball in jiffy. Whips the bails off and there's a stumping appeal. It's taken upstairs and replays show that Kohli is fine. In the process, the TV umpire also checked whether there was an edge, but he found nothing. • 0.4 Good length delivery outside off, this time Rahane stays back to run it down towards third man for a single.
  • 0.3 FOUR! A very good shot to get off the mark! Full in length again, on middle this time, Rahane picks it off his pads and flicks it sweetly through mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • 0.2 Full in length around off, 142 kph, Rahane is on the front foot in defense.
