  • India, on the other hand, would be a tad disappointed to not get closer to 300. They lost momentum in the middle overs and the knockout punch just didn't arrive. Pandya got a life yet he couldn't make a difference. It doesn't seem to be an easy pitch to bat on and change of pace would be the key. Australia would require a good batting effort on their part to hunt the target down. Will they tackle spin better to level the series or will we see a repeat performance from their batters? Join us in a while for the Australian reply. Let's hope that the rain, which threatened earlier doesn't return.
  • Australia will be really happy with the way they came back in the end, giving away just 45 runs in the last ten overs and picking up four wickets, to keep the hosts in check. The home side was cruising along when Rahane and Kohli were at the crease, stitching a 102-run stand to set things rolling. The former scored a well-constructed fifty while the skipper missed out on a ton by 8 runs. Credit to the Aussie bowlers for persisting with tight lines and lengths and offered freebies at a premium to the batsmen who followed. Coulter-Nile and Richardson both picked up three wickets apiece and that proved to be the difference. Cummins doesn't have a cluster of wickets to show but he dried up the run flow with his disciplined bowling.
  • 49.6 OUT! Run out! India are bowled out for 252! Back of a length outside off, a swing and a miss from Chahal. He looks to steal a bye but Wade is quick to collect the ball and hit the stumps at his end. Sensational stuff from the visitors.
  • 49.5 Good length delivery outside off, dabbed away towards the backward point fielder for a single.
  • 49.4 FOUR! Bumrah gets a boundary! Richardson bowls a back of a hand slower delivery outside off, Bumrah gets down to slog yet again. Is deceived by the slower delivery yet manages to slog sweep it through square leg for a boundary. A desperate dive by the fielder in the deep is of no help!
  • 49.3 Bowls it wide of off, Bumrah gets down and just manages to hit it back towards the bowler.
  • 49.2 A low full toss around off for a hat-trick ball! Chahal glides it towards point for a run.
  • YUZVENDRA CHAHAL is the last man in to face the hat-trick ball.
  • 49.1 OUT! And Pandya gets out off a full toss! Richardson bowls a slower full toss outside off, Pandya looks to go big over wide long off but the ball travels only as far as Warner there. So Pandya is unable to repeat his last-match heroics! Vital wicket at the start of the last over. Richardson has two-in-two now!
  • 48.6 Hardik stands tall and runs it down towards third man to keep strike for the last over. 246/8
  • 48.5 Backs away and glides it past the backward point fielder to bring Pandya back on strike.
  • 48.4 FOUR! Edged and that will do for the Indians! Short of a length delivery outside off, Bumrah swings at it. Gets an edge which flies down to third man for a boundary, a much-needed one.
  • 48.4 Wide! Bangs in a short ball, too high as Bumrah fails to pull it away.
  • 48.3 Another dot ball! On a length and just around middle, Bumrah defends it down on the pitch. Looks to cross but Pandya sends him back. Good stuff from the Aussies.
  • JASPRIT BUMRAH is the new man in!
  • 48.2 OUT! Edged and what a catch that is from Wade! He had a tough day on the field and look what he has just done, mind blowing stuff from the keeper! On a length and just outside off, Kuldeep Yadav makes room and looks to dab it away for a single. However, gets a thick outside edge behind where Wade dives full length to his left to take that one. Maxwell barges towards the keeper and pats his back.
  • 48.1 Comes around the wicker and bowls a length delivery outside off. Yadav fails to get any bat on it.
  • KULDEEP YADAV walks in next. PAT CUMMINS to bowl out as well...
  • 47.6 OUT! Doesn't prove to be very costly as Kumar is gone next ball! A full ball around off and middle, Kumar looks to smash it out of the park again, but ends up hitting it high in the sky. Maxwell, from long on, gets under it and pouches it safely. After all the drama, this is an anticlimax. What's more, it will be the new man to take strike next over! 239/7
  • 47.5 DROPPED! Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets a life! How costly will that be? Richardson bowls a full ball around off, Kumar looks to heave it away. Ends up slicing it over covers. Smith backtracks, gets there but spills the chance. The batsmen run two before the ball is retrieved. Smith's one of the better fielders around and he fluffs the chance here! Notable is the fact that Handscomb stationed in the deep could have had a better chance as he had to run forward but Smith called for it and dropped that. The skipper later apologizes realizing his folly.
  • 47.4 Gets away! Richardson runs in and bowls a slower delivery outside off, Kumar looks to smash it but all he manages is a bottom edge towards the keeper.
  • The players and the umpires make their way to the middle. Remember, it'll be a Free Hit!
  • Good news! The covers are coming off and we might have a resumption soon.
  • 47.4 Pandya is caught off a no ball! Richardson bowls a high full toss around off, Pandya looks to smash it out of the park but gets a top edge over covers. Smith backtracks from there and takes a good catch. But he was aware that it could have been a no ball and returns the ball to the bowler and shouts to him to whip the bails off. Hardik didn't look to complete the run as he thought he's a goner. Richardson then whips off the bails realizing that the batsman is not in the frame. The umpire goes upstairs to check for the validity of the ball and replays show that it is above waist height indeed. The Australians appeal for the run out but the umpire seems to convince them that it isn't a valid appeal as the ball is dead after Smith has caught that, confirmed by the third umpire.
  • What happened there? Hardik Pandya gets caught by Steven Smith but he thinks he is gone and hence doesn't run and rushes back towards the dressing room. Complete chaos in the middle as Smith is seen complaining to the umpire who signals it as a no ball and then further adds Pandya can't be given run out as he wasn't attempting for it. Meanwhile, the players are off the field and we have a bit of delay...
  • The heavens have opened up all of a sudden. It's absolutely pelting down.
  • 47.3 Fuller delivery outside off, very full as Kumar jams it out towards point to bring Pandya back on strike.
  • 47.2 Good bowling, this! Bowls the back of a hand delivery, it dips in around off, Bhuvneshwar jams it out towards the off side.
  • 47.1 Fuller and sprayed wide outside off, Kumar hits it through covers and gets a double for doing so.
  • 46.6 Short ball in line of the stumps, Pandya looks to play at that but misses. 233/6
  • 46.5 Lands it around off, Kumar lofts it aerially towards long on. The ball lands well short of the fielder there. A run taken.
  • 46.5 WIDE! Nathan bowls it down the leg side, Kumar misses the flick. Wide signaled.
  • Kumar smashes it right back towards Pandya at the non-striker's end. Smith runs to him from mid-wicket and looks to be a concerned man. The ball hit the helmet of Pandya as he looked to move away. The Indian team physio rushes out and tends to the all-rounder. Pandya is alright and play will resume.
  • 46.4 Ouch! That might have hurt for sure! Coulter-Nile bowls it full around middle, Kumar smashes it straight down. But the ball smashes the helmet of Pandya, who looks to get away from the line of the ball but is unsuccessful.
  • 46.3 Slower short ball outside off, Kumar looks to cut but is early into the shot. Ends up getting a top edge that falls in the no man's land. The keeper as well as the fielder from point gets there but nobody is able to catch that.
  • 46.2 FOUR! It's an edge that ends the boundary drought! Back of a length ball outside off, Kumar looks to flay at that with a hard bat. Gets a top edge that goes over keeper and into the third man fence.
  • 46.1 Served on a length outside off, Pandya punches it through covers for a run.
  • 45.6 Bowled around off, Kumar plays it to point and there's no chance of a run there. 226/6
  • 45.5 Back of a length ball around off and middle, Pandya gets a leading edge through covers for a run. It was in the air for a while and not too far from the fielder.
  • 45.4 Confusion! Length ball around off, Pandya looks to drive it on the up but gets it off the upper half towards mid off. Kumar went down in search of the run. Warner from mid off has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Kumar had given it up already!
  • 45.3 Length delivery on the pads, Bhuvneshwar tucks it to fine leg for a run.
  • 45.2 Bowls it on a length around middle and leg, Pandya gets it off his gloves towards fine leg for a single.
  • 45.1 Shorter delivery around leg to Kumar who's backing away, he pulls it to long on for a run.
  • 44.6 Length ball outside off, Kumar opens the face of the bat and guides it to third man for a run. 222/6
  • 44.5 Full ball outside off, driven back towards the bowler. Nathan gets down and stops it in his followthrough.
  • 44.4 A yorker around off and middle, Kumar did well to dig it out.
  • 44.3 And now the pressure tells! After a couple of dots, Pandya is desperate for a run and he gets it in the end, albeit with an element of risk involved. Coulter-Nile bowls it full outside off, Hardik drives it towards mid off and sets off for a quick run. Warner rushes to the ball and has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. The batsman would have been in though.
  • 44.2 Another length delivery around middle and leg, he punches it to mid on.
  • 44.1 Spears it on a length around off and middle, Pandya, strangely, defends showing the full face of the bat. He's not looking to attack immediately and maybe looking to bat as deep as possible.
  • NATHAN COULTER-NILE is brought back. He has got two overs left. Can he pick another wicket?
  • 43.6 A dot ball to end the over. It is bowled around off, Kumar can only find the mid-wicket fielder with his flick. A very good over by Stoinis, just two runs came from it! 220/6
  • 43.5 Marcus bowls it short around off, Kumar pulls it through mid-wicket for a brace.
  • 43.4 This is bowled on a length around middle, Bhuvneshwar flicks it to the right of mid-wicket. Is unable to get a run as the fielder does well to get there quickly and prevent a run.
  • Ashton Agar who twisted his right ankle a while back was off the field. Now he is seen limping near the boundary rope along with the physio and is going inside the dressing room. These are not good signs for Australia. Hopefully, he recovers soon.
  • 43.3 Bowled a tad fuller around off, Kumar pushes it towards covers.
  • 43.2 Length ball outside off, Kumar looks to stand and cut it, but misses. The ball passes close to the edge of the bat. He should look to pick up a single and hand over the strike to Pandya instead of looking for big shots.
  • 43.1 Serves this on a length around off, Bhuvneshwar punches it to covers.
  • MARCUS STOINIS is back on.
  • 42.6 Bowls it full outside off, driven to covers. 218/6
  • 42.5 Back of a length ball outside off, Pandya cuts it wide of third man for a brace.
  • 42.4 Bowls it on a length around off, Pandya plays it towards point.
  • 42.3 This delivery is punched through covers off the back foot for a run.
  • 42.2 Length ball around off and middle, Hardik taps it towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 42.1 FOUR! Smashed! Cummins spears this on a length outside off, Pandya stands tall and slaps it over covers for a boundary. Nobody could've dared to get a hand on to that.
  • 41.6 Bowled outside off, Pandya plays it towards backward point for a quick run. The fielder has a shy at the striker's end but misses. 210/6
  • 41.5 This is bowled around off, Pandya gets a leading edge towards the off side.
  • 41.4 Length ball around off, Pandya keeps it out from the crease.
  • 41.3 Short ball in line of the stumps, Pandya goes for the pull but misses it completely.
  • 41.2 This is a length ball outside off, Bhvneshwar stands tall and punches it through covers for a run.
  • 41.1 Runs in and spears it on a length around off, Kumar blocks it towards mid off.
  • 40.6 Bowls it outside off, Pandya shoulders arms in response. 208/6
  • 40.5 Bowled in line of the stumps, BK flicks it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 40.4 Pat serves it outside off, Kumar blocks it onto the ground.
  • 40.3 Lands this around off, Kumar defends it from the crease.
  • 40.2 Bouncer around off, Bhuvneshwar lets that go to the keeper.
  • 40.1 Steams in and spears in a length ball around off, Kumar defends it off the back foot.
  • Powerplay 3 signaled! Maximum of 5 fielders are now allowed outside the circle.
  • 39.6 Lands it on a length around off, Kumar gets an edge to it towards third man for a run. 207/6
  • 39.5 Kane bowls it on a length outside off, Kumar feels for it but gets beaten.
  • 39.4 Edged but safe, for the umpteenth time today! Richardson serves it on a length outside off, Pandya goes for the drive. Gets an outside edge past slip for a run. The third man fielder does well to prevent a boundary there.
  • 39.3 Length ball around off, Hardik blocks it off the back foot.
  • 39.2 Bowls it on a length outside off, Kumar pushes it towards covers for a run to get going.
  • BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR strides out to bat. He is an able batsman, remember. And he would need to show that today.
  • 39.1 OUT! The big fish is trapped! Richardson bowls a full ball outside off, Dhoni looks to drive it through covers. Ends up finding Smith there, who takes a good low catch diving to his left. The expression of joy on his face shows how important this wicket is for them. Dhoni walks back without much of a contribution. Australia have done well to come back since Jadhav's wicket, picking up 3 for just 18 runs.
  • KANE RICHARDSON back on.
  • 38.6 Excellent running! Length ball around middle and leg, tucked towards square leg. Pandya gets back for the second before the fielder returns the ball to the keeper. 204/5
  • 38.5 This is bowled around off, Pandya defends it off the front foot.
  • Ashton Agar seems to have twisted his ankle and is on the ground while fielding. The physio rushes out and Agar is seen walking across the boundary ropes to get medical attention.
  • 38.4 Cummins serves it on a length around off, Dhoni flicks it through square leg for a run. As Agar fielded that he seems to be in some discomfort and on the ground now.
  • 38.3 Length ball around off, Dhoni defends it from the crease.
  • 38.2 Bowls it full outside off, MS drives it to mid off.
  • 38.1 Cummins bowls it outside off, Dhoni pushes it to covers.
  • PAT CUMMINS is back into the attack.
  • 37.6 FOUR! Streaky way to get going! Coulter-Nile bowls it on a length around off and middle, Pandya looks to defend. The ball takes the inside edge of the bat and races past the leg stump and into the fine leg fence for a boundary. Lucky! Nathan has his hands on his head after watching the replay. So close it was! 201/5
  • The hard-hitting all-rounder HARDIK PANDYA walks out next.
  • 37.5 OUT! Kohli plays on! The crowd gets quiet! Coulter-Nile is all pumped up. He gets Kohli again and denies him a century. Serves a length ball just around off, Kohli looks to guide it towards third man but ends up playing it onto the stumps. This ball stayed a tad low and that is Virat's undoing. The umpire goes upstairs to check for a no ball but Nathan seems to be fine. This is a big wicket for the Australians as the Indian skipper has the ability to cut loose towards the death. Rarely you see Kohli missing out on a ton. A good knock ends, nevertheless.
  • 37.4 Length ball around middle and leg, Kohli flicks it through the right of the mid-wicket fielder. Cummins runs to his left from deep square leg and saves a couple of runs for his side.
  • 37.3 Nathan runs in and bowls a slower back of a length ball outside off. Kohli looks to pull but is early into the shot. Ends up missing it as the ball goes on the bounce to Wade.
  • 37.2 Lands this outside off, Kohli pushes it to point.
  • 37.1 Length ball around middle, Kohli looks to flick but hits it aerially towards mid-wicket. The ball seemed to have stopped on him a bit.
  • 36.6 Back of a length ball outside off, Dhoni hits it towards point. 195/4
  • 36.5 Bowls a length ball outside off, Dhoni covers his stump and shoulders arms in anticipation of a wide. The umpire stays unmoved. Replay showed that it passed just over the tramline there.
  • 36.4 Back of a length ball outside off, Kohli just dabs it down to third man for a run.
  • 36.3 Short ball around off, Virat pulls it straight to the fielder at mid-wicket.
  • 36.2 FOUR! Pristine! Full ball outside off, Kohli just times the cover drive perfectly. The ball races away to the fence and the fielder in the deep didn't stand a chance of cutting that off.
  • 36.1 Lands this on a length around middle, Kohli hits it straight to mid-wicket.
  • 35.6 Shortish on off, stabbed off the back foot towards point. 190/4
  • 35.5 FOUR! And Dhoni is away! Coulter-Nile offers a short ball to him but it doesn't bounce as much as he would have expected it to be. Dhoni swivels a touch and pulls it firmly down to the fine leg fence for a boundary. What if I tell you, it took 67 balls for him to score a boundary in Chennai but he hits one today on the second ball itself. So much contrast! Well, this shot gets the crowd going as well.
  • 35.4 An appeal for a caught behind! Bowls it short this time, around middle and leg. Dhoni looks to help it away but does so half-heartedly. It goes towards Wade and an appeal has been made. Turned down by the umpire.
  • The buzz around the ground just gets louder! MS DHONI is slated to walk out and he does! There's nothing stopping the crowd. It's his 300th ODI in India colours and every MS fan would want and expect a special knock from him. There's still a lot of time in the innings.
  • 35.3 OUT! Coulter-Nile strikes! Maxwell hardly puts anything down, says Harsha Bhogle on-air. The bowler comes in and drops it on a shorter length outside off. It was there to be hit and Jadhav obliges. He cuts it but much to his dismay the ball travels quickly to Maxwell at backward point, who gobbles it with a reverse cup. A wicket at the right time for the Aussies as these two were looking really good out there.
  • 35.2 Strays a bit on the pads, worked through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 35.1 Good length delivery outside off, punched off the front foot towards point where Maxwell dives to stop some runs.
  • NATHAN COULTER-NILE is back for another spell. His skipper needs him to strike, desperately!
  • 34.6 Waits for the ball to come and then at the last moment opens the face of the bat to run it down to third man for a single. 185/3
  • 34.5 On a length and outside off, cut straight towards point.
  • 34.4 Short of a length delivery, angling in, tucked in front of mid-wicket for a single.
  • 34.3 Back of a length delivery on middle and off, defended back to the bowler.
  • 34.2 SIX! That's gone the distance! Stoinis bowls it short, wide and outside off. Jadhav stays back and just throws his hands at it. Gets enough meat to send it sailing over the third man fence for a biggie. The little man is getting a move on here. Two boundaries in the previous over and now a maximum.
  • 34.1 Back of a length outside off, glided down to third man for a single.
  • Between the 32nd and 33rd over, we could see Wade give some words of wisdom to Kohli. He didn't seem pleased with the batsmen stealing a bye after the ball hit him on the arm. The discussion might have been about that.
  • 33.6 FOUR! Too easy! Drifts one down the leg side and Jadhav doesn't let it go waste. He swipes it past the short fine leg fielder and picks up back-to-back boundaries. Spoils the over with that too. 176/3
  • 33.5 FOUR! Up and over! Loopy delivery outside off, Kedar Jadhav makes room and lifts it inside out cleanly over extra cover to pick up a boundary.
  • 33.4 Quicker through the air, outside off, chopped off the back foot towards point.
  • 33.3 Makes a bit of room and drives it through mid off for a single.
  • 33.2 Floats it up around middle and leg, Kohli gets down to play the sweep shot but misses and is hit on the pads.
  • The umpires calls it a dead ball. Kohli isn't amused. Agar's towel fell down as he was in his delivery stride. The umpire spots that and immediately signals a dead ball. Kohli was unaffected by that and he played a late cut towards third man and looked to collect some runs. The ball raced away to the third man fence and Kohli will robbed. Could be a factor if he ends up falling around 96-99!
  • 33.1 Tossed up on the pads, Kohli whips it wide of long on and scurries for a brace.
  • 32.6 Opens the face of the bat and glides it down to third man for a single. 165/3
  • 32.5 FOUR! Excellent shot! Sees the width and Kohli pounces on it. The ball blazes past Maxwell at point for a boundary.
  • 32.4 Good awareness by the batsmen! Length delivery, slower through the air and beats the slash of Jadhav. Wade gets a bad bounce and is hit on the right hand. He is down in pain and Kohli calls Jadhav through for a bye. Got to feel for Wade here.
  • 32.4 Bowls a slower one outside off, it's too wide actually and the umpire stretches his hands to call it a wide.
  • 32.3 Back of a length delivery, skidding a bit off the deck. Jadhav pulls it straight to the fielder at mid-wicket.
  • 32.2 Good length delivery on off, defended off the front foot.
  • 32.1 Short of a good length, bowled around off, chopped away towards the point fielder.
  • MARCUS STOINIS is back into the attack. Will he able to get Kohli?
  • 31.6 Ashton gives it a nice flight outside off, Kedar looks to drive it through covers but gets it off the inner half down to long on for one. 158/3
  • 31.5 Loops it up outside off, eased through cover for one.
  • 31.4 Drifting it around off, Kohli taps it in front of point. Wants the single but is sent back by his partner.
  • 31.3 Slower through the air and lands it full outside off, pushed towards the point fielder for a single.
  • 31.2 Tosses it up around middle and leg, nudged away towards short fine leg.
  • 31.1 Flatter one outside off, slapped behind square on the off side by Jadhav for a single.
  • Drinks are on the field now! The Australians would look at this break to think of ways to get rid off Kohli as quickly as they can. He's very dangerous towards the death - a strike rate of about 138 between overs 41 to 50 is a fact - and they would well know this. The Indians would love their skipper to carry on and Jadhav would try and get himself in to up the ante.
  • 30.6 Kane lands this on a length around off, Jadhav pushes it towards covers. 154/3
  • 30.6 WIDE! Richardson bowls a bouncer around off and middle, Jadhav looks to pull initially but lets it go eventually. The umpire has to stretch his arms.
  • 30.5 Length ball around off, Kedar defends it from the crease.
  • 30.4 Serves a delivery outside off, Kohli plays it through covers for a run.
  • 30.3 Short ball around off, Kohli stands tall and pulls it through mid-wicket for a brace.
  • 30.2 Again he's bowled a length ball on the pads, Jadhav tucks it down to fine leg for a run. He's straying often on the pads which is not a good thing.
  • 30.1 Runs in and spears this on a length on the pads, Kohli just flicks it away wristily to fine leg for a single.
  • 29.6 Drops it a bit short on middle and leg, worked away through the leg side for a single. 148/3
  • 29.5 The batsman works it down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 29.4 Drifts this one on the pads, Kedar nudges it behind square on the leg side and sets off. The fielder there has a shy at the bowler's end but it's way away from Agar who fails to collect. Steven Smith at covers too fails to get to it which allows them to take another. A bit of sloppiness from the Aussies here.
  • 29.3 Around middle and off, eased down to long on for a single.
  • 29.2 Flattish through the air around off, Jadhav dabs it wide of Stoinis at short third man and takes a single.
  • 29.1 Flighted delivery around off, driven along the ground through cover for a single.
  • 28.6 This ball is played from within the crease. 141/3
  • 28.5 Lands this a tad fuller around middle, he drives it down to long on for a single.
  • 28.4 This delivery is bowled outside off, driven by Kohli towards covers.
  • 28.3 Short ball around leg, Jadhav pulls it down to fine leg for a single.
  • 28.2 Length ball outside off, guided to third man for a run.
  • 28.1 FOUR! Tripe! Bowling on the pads isn't really the greatest of deliveries that you can bowl. He lands this on a length around middle, Kohli moves across and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary. Sunil Gavaskar on-air says that he fails to understand why Smith is still at the slips leaving mid-wicket open.
  • KANE RICHARDSON is back for another spell.
  • 27.6 Serves this outside off, Kohli takes a run towards long off. 134/3
  • 27.5 This delivery is punched off the back foot towards covers.
  • 27.4 Lands this around off, Jadhav collects a run by playing it to long off.
  • 27.3 This delivery outside off is pushed towards covers.
  • 27.3 WIDE! Fires this down the leg side, Jadhav fails to flick it. Wide given.
  • ROAR!!!!!!! Doused. The crowd rises as one thinking that it is MS Dhoni striding out. But nope. It is KEDAR JADHAV. Immediately the people quieten down. India in a bit of a trouble here. Jadhav needs to play sensibly.
  • 27.2 OUT! Knocked him over! Pandey fails to play a substantial knock and is out cheaply yet again. Agar lands a quicker delivery around off, the ball straightens after pitching. Pandey looks to cut but misses the ball and finds the stumps shattered. The visitors are ecstatic and why not! They have a chance to make inroads in this batting line-up.
  • 27.1 Serves this full outside off, Pandey pushes it back to the bowler.
  • Time for a change in bowling as ASHTON AGAR comes back on.
  • 26.6 Lands it around middle and off, Kohli defends it from the crease. 131/2
  • 26.5 Now Kohli is lucky! Coulter-Nile spears it full around middle and off, Pandey drives it straight down the ground. The ball hits the stumps at the other end. Nathan didn't get a hand onto that. If he had, Kohli could have been walking back. The ball deflects towards mid-wicket and the batsmen run one.
  • 26.4 Bowls this outside off, Pandey doesn't bother playing at that.
  • 26.3 Length ball outside off, Pandey dabs it towards backward point.
  • 26.2 This is bowled on a length around off, Pandey drives it straight to mid off.

  • 25.5 Floats it around off, Kohli flicks it towards square leg.
  • 25.5 WIDE! Lands this around middle and leg, the ball spins down the leg side. The batter lets that go. Wide signaled.
  • 25.4 Head tosses this outside off, Kohli drives it inside out through covers for a brace.
  • 25.3 Lands this around off, played to mid-wicket.
  • 25.2 Floats it around off, Pandey blocks it towards covers. Kohli wants to get on strike and they take a quick run.
  • 25.1 Tosses this around off, Manish pushes it towards mid-wicket.
  • 24.6 Sticks to his length, keeps it in the line outside off. Virat looks to drive it through the line but gets an inside edge towards mid on. 124/2
  • 24.6 Wide! Bouncer on middle, it bounces way over the batsman's head. Rightly called as a wide.
  • 24.5 On a length and outside off, punched off the back foot towards cover.
  • 24.4 Angles in a length delivery on middle and leg, tucked away through mid-wicket for one. Pandey is off the mark.
  • 24.3 A bit full, served on off, a gentle push off the front foot towards cover.
  • 24.2 Short of a length delivery outside off, Pandey is quick to sit under it.
  • 24.1 Good length delivery on off, Kohli stands tall and dabs it past the lone slip fielder for a single.

Rahane had to rush as he had no other option. Cartwright from sweeper cover spears in a flat throw to Wade who collects it in front of the stumps and takes the bails off as Rahane puts in a desperate dive. The third umpire is called for. Replays show that he's just short of the crease and hence has to walk back. Ajinkya wasn't keen on the second but responded to his skipper's call. He ran the second run a tad wide and not in straight line, which meant that he had to cover an extra distance. That's the end of the 102-run stand between these two! • TEAM CHANGES - India have no reason to change their combination and are going unchanged. Australia have made a couple of changes as mentioned by Steven Smith.
  • STEVEN SMITH, the Australian skipper, says that it is a good feeling to play 100 games for his side but it has taken him 7 years to get there. Reckons that it looks a good pitch and would have loved to bat first, but they will turn up and bowl well. Informs that Kane Richardson is in for James Faulkner and Ashton Agar replaces Adam Zampa.
  • VIRAT KOHLI, the Indian skipper, says they will bat first. Adds it looks a nice and hard wicket and there isn't a lot of moisture in it. Further says they are playing with two spinners in the side and would look to defend again today. Continues saying there were a lot of talks about their top order but it was good to see the middle and lower order bailing them out. Ends by saying they are playing with the same eleven and the last game has given them the confidence which has lifted them up.
  • TOSS - INDIA WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO BAT FIRST!
  • India, on the other hand, would want their top order to fire in unison. They were fortunate to be bailed out by the lower middle order in the first game and wouldn't want a rescue act yet again from them. Kohli would hope for a complete game against the Aussies. Stay with us as we get you the toss in a while.
  • Rain, rain go away, come again another day - this is what the Australians would be praying coming into the second ODI. Hello and welcome to our coverage of the game, which is to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Australia will be wary of the spin attack that the hosts possess and would look to tackle it well. They would know that it was their batting that was a huge let down in the first game and they can't afford another bad day at the office.
  • India continue their domination! The Men in Blue are clicking as a unit and it seems nothing can stand in their way. They are on the same points with the No. 1 side in the world, South Africa. Another win will take them to the top of the tree and also help them take an unassailable lead in the series. Australia were good in patches but failed to pull off a collective performance. They need to get their act together if they are to stay alive in the competition. Join us for the 3rd ODI which will take place in Indore on 24th September at 1330 local (0800 GMT). Till then, goodbye and cheers!
  • Indian skipper and also the Man of the Match, VIRAT KOHLI is really happy with the win. Says he thought they didn't have enough on the board but felt that they can stand a chance if they bowl well and get a good start. Praises Bhuvneshwar Kumar for setting the tone for them and feels they can count on him if there is some assistance off the pitch. Adds the wicket wasn't that easy to bat on. On the wrist spinners, he says both (Chahal and Yadav) bowl with a lot of heart and provide the breakthroughs whenever needed. Opines that he is happy to have all the bases covered. On his batting, Kohli replies he always tries to come out positive and respects the opposition at the same time. Reckons he was aware of the wicket today, knew Australia's bowling attack had quality and it needed something special to get going. Ends by saying it looks nice when it pays off.
  • Australian skipper, STEVEN SMITH says he was pretty happy with the target set as they pulled things back nicely in the first innings. Mentions that they crumbled under pressure, making some poor decisions and adds that they can't afford it against a quality side like India. Reckons Marcus Stoinis was pretty good in the end but someone needed to step up and score big. Informs that his team bowled really well and once again emphasizes on poor decisions which cost them. On the Indian bowlers, he says they have got all the bases covered, their fast bowlers swing the ball both ways and have great variety in the attack.
  • Both the wrist spinners combined together to weave their magic. They took 5 wickets in 20 overs for 88 runs to dent the tourists. Kuldeep Yadav impressed the most, taking his maiden hat-trick in ODI cricket. Stoinis played an entertaining knock to keep his side in with an outside chance but the task proved to be too much for him and eventually, he was left stranded.
  • Head and Smith got their eye in and formed a good partnership. Both of them played sensible cricket, targeted the loose deliveries and kept the scoreboard ticking. They were threatening to take the game away but Head lost his cool to throw his wicket away. Maxwell looked dangerous but Chahal outsmarted him. And after the Australian skipper returned to the pavilion, a collapse followed.
  • A brilliant performance from India and they have taken a 2-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series. This is their 8th consecutive win in ODIs, a commendable feat indeed! After posting a competitive total on this two-paced track, their bowlers came out firing on all cylinders, especially Kumar who jolted the visitors early by nipping out both the openers and nearly got Head as well.
  • 43.1 OUT! The decision stands! And it's all over for Australia here. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the one who took the first wicket and comes back now to seal the deal. Back of a length delivery, skidding a bit off the deck. Richardson walks across a touch to flick it away but misses and is struck on the pads. Kumar turns back to appeal and the finger goes up. Stoinis asks him to challenge the decision but to be honest it was looking out to the naked eye. Replays show it's in line and would have hit the leg stump. The Men in Blue extend their winning streak as they WIN BY 50 RUNS!
  • Richardson has a conversation with Stoinis and decides to take the review after being adjudged LBW. It is very close. Only an inside edge can save him.
  • BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR comes back into the attack. He bowled a great opening spell. Stoinis is looking threatening.

  • 42.3 SIX! Flick of the wrists! That's gone over the fence! Let me tell you, he is keeping the Aussie hopes alive. In a match against New Zealand, he scored an unbeaten 146 and nearly took his side across the line. Has a chance to do it today if he plays like this. A full toss on the pads, Stoinis just flicks it over deep backward square leg for a maximum.

  • 41.3 SIX! Maiden ODI fifty for Stoinis! And what a way to get to that one. Gets this one in his arc and he slams it down the ground for a maximum all the way. Raises his bat to the dressing room and acknowledges the cheer. The task is way too much for him, but can he bring this close?
  • 41.2 Lunges forward to a full ball and drives it towards the mid off fielder.
  • 41.1 Angles in a length delivery on middle, tucked away towards the fielder at mid-wicket.

  • 40.5 Kane has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 40.4 Gets down and across to paddle it down to fine leg for a single.
