  • The Bangladesh bowlers will be pleased with their effort, especially after the start the Lankans got. Five of their seven bowlers contributed with a wicket at least with Rubel Hossain being the star. He ended with figures of 10-0-46-4. He was well supported by the Mustafizur who bowled very economically and deceived the batsmen with his cutters. The bowlers though will feel they have done their job and now the onus is onto their batsmen as to how they respond. Also, Shakib Al Hasan, has coped a blow on his left hand and so we aren't sure if he has recovered. Well, Bangladesh would hope that he has. Who will roar louder? The Tigers or the Lions? Join us for the fascinating second-half of the Tri-Series final...
  • After winning the toss and opting to bat, the away side lost Gunathilaka early but Kusal Mendis came out all guns blazing. He scored 28 off just 9 balls before playing a shot too many. Although, he ensured Sri Lanka got off to a flier, Tharanga and Dickwella then steadied the ship considerably. They could not keep up the scoring rate but stitched a vital 71-run stand before the latter departed. Chandimal, then came in next and built another stand with Tharanga who was knocked over (getting a few lives) after he reached a half ton. The Lankan skipper though couldn't accelerate but showed immense patience to take the team's total to a respectable one, considering the nature of the pitch.
  • Just 54 runs in the last 10 overs with the loss of 5 wickets, Sri Lanka have managed to crawl their way to 221. A total which they will be happy with as the wicket has variable bounce and is also very slow and sluggish in nature.
  • 49.6 OUT! No, they can't! A wicket to finish, more importantly a dot. Full ball outside off, Chameera swings at it again but does not connect. Lakmal goes for a bye but Rahim underarms and hits the stumps. The square leg umpire straightaway gives it out. Just 2 from the last over and SRI LANKA FINISH WITH 221 ON THE BOARD!
  • 49.5 Fuller outside off, Lakmal mistimes it down towards long on for a run. Two runs till now from the last over, there is one ball to go. Can Sri Lanka find a boundary?
  • 49.4 Short and wide outside off, Lakmal tries to pull but connects with thin air.
  • 49.3 Fuller on off, driven down to long on for a run.
  • Dushmantha Chameera is the last man in.
  • 49.2 OUT! A dot and now a wicket to follow! Full and straight on the stumps, Madushanka tries to go over mid-wicket but misses completely and it knocks the middle stump out. A short outing with the bat for the debutant and Rubel gets his fourth.
  • 49.1 DOT TO START! A full ball outside off, the batsman swings but misses.
  • 48.6 Good length on off, played back to the bowler. Just 4 from the penultimate over. Excellent! 219/8
  • 48.5 Fuller in length on off, driven down to mid on for a run.
  • 48.4 The batsman works it down the leg side. One run added to the total.
  • Suranga Lakmal walks out at no. 10.
  • 48.3 OUT! A soft dismissal! Mustafizur bowls a cutter on off, Akila tries to go over covers. A very difficult shot to a ball coming in. He mistimes it and gives an easy catch to Mithun at covers.
  • 48.2 The batsman gets an inside edge on that which goes fine down the leg side. One run added to the total.
  • 48.1 Another one on the pads, Akila misses the flick. The ball hits the pads and rolls towards square leg for a leg bye. There was a muted appeal but nothing from the umpire.
  • 47.6 FOUR! EDGED BUT RUNS! Full outside off, Madushanka throws the kitchen sink at it but gets an outside edge through short third man and the ball races away. 16 runs from the over, a big one for Sri Lanka. 215/7
  • 47.5 Works it through the leg side for a run.
  • 47.4 MAIDEN ODI RUN FOR MADUSHANKA! The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. One run added to the total.
  • Shehan Madushanka makes his way out.
  • 47.3 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! You miss and I hit mate! Rubel bowls it very full on the stumps, Chandimal goes for a big heave across the line but misses. The ball cannons into the middle stump and Chandimal has to make the long walk back. He falls five short of his fifty. He played the anchoring role but perishes at the wrong time.
  • 47.2 A low full toss, Chandimal gets it off the toe end straight down the ground for a couple. 10 from the first 2 balls.
  • 47.1 Once again, just a single off the Free Hit. Full ball on the stumps, Akila digs it out towards mid-wicket for a single.
  • 47.1 NO BALL and a SIX to add salt to the wound! Another high full toss on middle, Akila this time takes full toll of it as he sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence. 7 runs without a ball being bowled! Are we in for a big over here? Free Hit coming up.
  • Rubel Hossain is back into the attack.
  • 46.6 Just a single off the free hit! A short ball around off, Akila mistimes it towards mid on for a run. 199/6
  • 46.6 A high bouncer, very high. A beamer you can say, not intentional though. Akila ducks under it and the umpire calls it a no ball.
  • 46.5 The batsman gets a bottom edge! The keeper gathers it on the bounce.
  • 46.4 A big heave, takes the top edge and once again lands in no man's land. How many times have we seen this today? A couple taken by the batsmen.
  • 46.3 Another cutter on middle, Akila goes for the big heave but misses it.
  • 46.2 Length on off, guided towards point for a run.
  • 46.1 Mustafizur who is back into the attack, bowls a full ball outside off. Chandimal times it nicely through extra cover for a couple.
  • 45.6 The batsman gets a leading edge on that one. 192/6
  • 45.5 FOUR! A much-needed one! It has come after 77 deliveries! A length ball around off, Akila makes room and slaps it over mid off and fetches himself a boundary.
  • 45.4 Fuller in length on off, pushed to covers. Chandimal wants a run and sets off for it but is sent back. The fielder there has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Though, replays later on show that the dive would have saved Chandimal there had the fielder hit.
  • 45.3 Another full ball on the pads, Dinesh fails to flick to get hit on the pads and it rolls towards point. The players appeal but the umpire shakes his head. The batsmen take a run. Replays later on show there was an inside edge there.
  • 45.3 WIDE! Down the leg side and the umpire signals a wide.
  • 45.2 Fuller in length driven through covers for a run.
  • 45.1 On a length around off, defended towards point for a run.
  • Mashrafe Mortaza is back into the attack.
  • 44.6 The batsman has driven it straight down the ground. 185/6
  • 44.5 Again an overthrow! Another in dipper around off, Chandimal gets an inside edge onto his pads. The ball goes towards point and the batsmen complete an easy run. The fielder there though, once again has a needless shy and hits again. The ball deflects away from the fielder backing up at mid on and they take an extra run.
  • 44.4 On a length around off, Akila plays it towards point for a run.
  • Akila Dananjaya walks out at no. 8.
  • 44.3 OUT! No he has not edged it and it is umpire's call! Gunaratne is given his marching orders and another one bites the dust here! Rubel bowls an inswinger around middle, it is on the fuller side. Asela once again walks across and tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. Rubel appeals and the umpire agrees. Asela walks up to his skipper and has a chat before opting for the DRS. Replays roll in and it shows no inside edge but is is clipping the leg stump. The umpire's call stays but Sri Lanka don't lose a review.
  • Another LBW given! Asela though reviews but it looks out, unless he has edged it.
  • 44.2 Shorter in length, hurries onto the batsman. Chandimal mistimes his pull to long on for a run.
  • 44.1 Shorter in length outside off, Dinesh cuts it to point.
  • 43.6 Again bowls a cutter on leg stump, it spins away after pitching. Chandimal misses the flick and the ball hits the pads and goes down towards third man for a leg bye. 181/5
  • 43.5 Back of a length on off, taps it towards point for a quick run.
  • 43.4 On a length around off, played to point.
  • 43.3 An overthrow! Chandimal guides the ball towards point who has a needless shy at the non-striker's end. He hits bull's eye but the batsman never left his crease. The ball deflects towards mid off and the batsmen go for the run this time. Mustafizur rushes to the ball, picks it up and has a shy at the other end but misses. A run added. Replays later on show Gunaratne was in even if the Fizz had hit.
  • 43.2 On the stumps, defended.
  • 43.1 Shorter in length outside off, Chandimal cuts it to point.
  • 42.6 Length around off, drops it down towards cover for a run. 178/5
  • 42.5 CAUGHT? No, it was off the pads. Rubel bowls a length ball around off, it shapes back in. Chandimal misses the flick to get hit high on the pad. The ball goes towards Rahim who dives and takes it. The players appeal for caught behind but the umpire shakes his head.

  • 42.1 Fuller on middle, flicked through mid on for a run.
  • 41.6 Played to the point region by the batsman. End of another tight over! 8 overs to go, Sri Lanka need to get a move on here. 173/5

  • 41.2 Walks across and flicks it through square leg for a run.
  • Ohkay! Shakib Al Hasan is down on the ground after his previous effort in the field. He might have injured his bowling hand, his left hand as he fell right on it. Not a good news, not a good news for Bangladesh. He is now seen walking off the field.
  • 41.1 On a length around off, Chandimal pushes it towards cover. He calls for a run but then refuses as he sees Shakib coming towards the ball. The fielder dives over it and hence, the batsmen eventually get a run.

  • 39.2 How has that missed the stumps? Woah! Gunaratne walks across exposing all his stumps. The Fizz once again bowls a cutter around off, which pitches and spins away. Asela tries to flick but misses and the ball goes agonizingly past the off pole. Mustafizur can't believe it but he has to.
  • 39.1 Length ball angling across the off stump. Asela tries to defend but gets beaten.
  • 38.6 On the pads, flicked through square leg for a run. 165/5
  • 38.5 Good length on off, Chandimal tries to defend but the ball takes the inside edge and goes towards the keeper. Gunaratne calls for a run and makes it in even though Rahim kicks the ball onto the stumps.
  • Bangladesh have their tales up as they have stopped the run flow and have also chipped away at the wickets. Will they restrict Sri Lanka below 250?
  • Asela Gunaratne walks out to the middle.
  • 38.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Rubel strikes! The short ball does the trick. He bowls a bumper, a quick one on middle. Perera who was batting on 2 after facing 10 balls, tries to break the shackles. He clears his front leg and tries to pull it. The ball takes the top edge and goes towards mid-wicket where Tamim positions himself under it and takes a nice easy catch. Two quick wickets for Bangladesh and this is a big one, as Thisara can be very dangerous towards the end.
  • 38.3 A huge appeal but not given! A fuller length swinging in again, Chandimal is once again beaten as he tries to flick. The ball hits him on the pads, the players appeal and the umpire shakes his head. The ball rolls down towards third man for a leg bye. Replays later on show it was missing leg. A good decision by the umpire.

  • 37.1 Back of a length on off, Perera pushes it through cover-point for an easy run.
  • 36.6 Cut Chandimal into half! Lovely bowling! On a length around off, it shapes back in late. Chandimal fails to account for the movement as he tries to defend. The ball beats him on the inside and strangely bounces over the stumps. I write strangely because this is a wicket where the ball is keeping low and this one goes over. 160/4
  • 36.5 Length around off, pushed towards covers.
  • 36.4 Gets off the mark with a single towards point.
  • 36.3 Good length on off, Thisara keeps it out.

  • 35.4 Back of a length on off, defended.
  • Thisara Perera walks out to the middle.
  • 35.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! Fifty ODI wickets for Rahman! He is the fastest to reach that milestone for Bangladesh. Take a bow, young man! He bowls it shorter around off, it's the cutter again. Tharanga goes for the pull but is beaten by the low bounce and the slowness on the ball. It hits the outer part of the off stump and that is it for the Lankan opener. Mustafizur is all smiles and Tharanga's luck runs out. Nevertheless, a good innings by him comes to an end but Sri Lanka would have loved it if he would have stayed till the end. End of the 45-run stand and Bangladesh will now look to capitalize.
  • 35.2 NOT OUT! It is missing the leg pole! Excellent use of technology by Tharanga. Mustafizur bowls a full ball around middle, which tails back in very late. Tharanga cannot adjust to the movement as he misses his flick and is rapped on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Tharanga goes up to his skipper and after a chat, he reviews. There is no inside edge but the ball is shown to be missing the leg stump. Tharanga will continue his innings as the on-field decision has to be overturned.
  • HOWZZAT? The umpire raises the dreaded finger. Tharanga has been given out but after a chat with his partner, he reviews. Looks close.
  • 35.1 Fuller on the pads, Chandimal flicks it towards wide mid on for a quick single.
  • Time for Drinks!
  • 34.6 As I say that they will accelerate, Tharanga tries to go big with a flick shot but once again is early into the shot as it is the slower one. It balloons in the air and once again falls in an area where there is no fielder. Tharanga's luck continues. It might be his day today as he has been dropped twice and even his skiers are not going to hand. Ride on Tharanga! Two added to the total. 157/3
  • 34.5 Back of a length on off, Tharanga guides it to point.

  • 31.6 Good length on off, the batsman defends it solidly. 141/3
  • 31.5 Good length around off, Tharanga does what he has been doing all day, guides it down to third man for a run.
  • 31.4 FOUR! Fifty for Tharanga and he gets there in style. His 37th half ton in ODIs. He has played well and also has had luck on his side. Sri Lanka will now hope for him to make it big. He pulls the length ball not off the middle, but connects well for it to race along the turf and cross the mid-wicket fence.
  • 31.3 On the pads, flicked to mid-wicket.
  • 31.2 Fuller on the pads, flicked down to fine leg for a run.
  • 31.1 On the shorter side, angling into the batsman. Chandimal pulls it in the gap towards backward square leg for a brace.
  • 30.6 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. 133/3
  • 30.5 Flatter and shorter, punches it through covers. Sweeper cover in the deep does really well to dive and stop the ball inside. Two taken by the batsmen.
  • 30.4 Tosses it up on off, driven down to long off for a run.
  • 30.3 In the air... lands in no man's land! The big shot was coming as there were some tight overs bowled. • 27.5 Good length on off, defended.

  • 26.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 26.3 DROPPED! Another reprieve for Tharanga! This too was not an easy one but should have been taken. He comes down the track and tries to go inside out, over covers. He does not get the desired elevation. The fielder there leaps and gets both his hands to it but can't hang on. A single results in the end.
  • 26.2 Works it around the corner with the spin.

  • 24.4 Again Tharanga drives and finds the man in the same region.
  • 24.3 On middle and off, pushed to mid on.

He lands it on a length around middle and leg and it gets a touch big on the batsman. Niroshan is too early into the shot as he looks to work it away on the leg side. The umpire raises his finger to the appeal. However, Dickwella straightaway reviews. First replay is enough to change the original decision.

He drops it short and angles it in from outside off, Kusal goes for the pull but mistimes it horribly towards mid on where Mahmudullah takes a dolly. 42/2
  • 5.5 Shortish again outside off, punched nicely off the back foot. Another good stop this time at cover-point. A single results.
  • 5.4 Superb stop, Mehidy! Short and outside off, Tharanga cuts it hard and it seemed like a boundary but Hasan at point dives full length to his right to make a classic stop.
  • 5.3 FOUR! Easy peasy for Tharanga! Short ball, slower in pace and miles down the leg side. All Upul had to do was to get some bat on it. He shuffles across and helps it on its way down to the fine leg fence for a boundary.

  • 4.5 Quicker and fired around middle, worked towards long on for one. Sensible.
  • 4.4 SIX! No stopping, Mendis! He has decided to go after the spinner. Sees the flight again, wears his dancing shoes on and smokes it over long on for another maximum. Third of the over already. What will Mehidy do now?

  • 3.6 Slightly fuller on the pads, worked towards the man at square leg. 13/1
  • 3.5 Stays back to this back of a length delivery and stabs it towards the off side.
  • 3.4 That kicked off! Mashrafe drops it on a length and it rises off the deck to take Tharanga by surprise. Upul looks to fend it away by taking his eyes off the ball and wears it on the gloves. Rings his right hand immediately.
  • 3.3 Angling in on middle and leg, nudged towards short mid-wicket for a brisk single.
  • 3.2 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 3.1 FOUR! Rides the bounce! Mortaza hurls it on a back of a length and serves a bit of width outside off, Mendis stands tall, gets on top of the bounce and cracks it through cover. Pierces the gap and gets off the mark in style.
  • 2.6 A bit short and outside off, slapped straight to the man at point. Just a single and a wicket from the over. 8/1
  • Kusal Mendis walks out to bat next.
  • 2.5 OUT! In the air... taken! Mehidy Hasan was always troubling Gunathilaka and finally removes him. He nicely floats it up around off, Gunathilaka dances down the track to go big but the ball turns away a touch. It lobs high up in the air off the outer half towards long off where Tamim Iqbal takes a sitter by coming across to his left. An early breakthrough for the hosts and they are really ecstatic.
  • 2.4 Now bowls an arm ball, it keeps coming in, Gunathilaka goes back to cut but gets an inside edge on the pads.
  • 2.3 That's a great delivery! Pitches it up around off, asks the batsman to come forward and then spins it away to beat the outside edge by a whisker.

  • 1.4 Slants it on a back of a length, it shapes away a touch to beat Tharanga's back foot defense comprehensively.
  • 1.3 Slightly fuller, just around that off stump line, Tharanga leans forward and drives it towards the cover fielder.
  • 1.2 On a good length and slants it away this time, pushed off the back foot towards cover.

  • 0.5 Quicker one again, skids a bit off the deck, DG looks to cut but gets beaten.
  • 0.4 That's a risky leave! Hasan bowls a quicker and flatter one around off, Danushka plants his front foot across and makes a leave. That wasn't far from kissing the off pole.
  • 0.3 Nicely tossed up around off, blocked solidly off the front foot.
  • 0.2 Beaten! Excellent delivery! Tosses it up around off, Gunathilaka comes forward to defend but the ball spins away with some extra bounce to beat the outside edge of his bat.
  • 0.1 FOUR! Sri Lanka are off to a perfect start! Mehidy Hasan starts with a loosener, drops it short and it's spinning away from off, Danushka camps back and packs a punch through extra cover to start the game with a boundary.

  • TOSS - Sri Lanka win the toss and opt to bat.
  • Hello and a warm welcome for the final of the tri-series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dhaka. It was 1-1 between the two in the group stage with both the teams winning their games quite convincingly. But it all comes down to today's result as the winner takes it all. The thrashing that Sri Lanka gave to Bangladesh in their must-win encounter means that they have the momentum on their side. Can they replicate their performance or will Bangladesh roar back and take the trophy? Let us hope for an exciting game. Stay tuned for the toss and team updates...
  • So, that is it from this game! Happy scenes in the Sri Lankan camp as they get their hands on the trophy and pose for the photographs. After a poor 2017, they have started 2018 with a bang. Bangladesh, on the other hand, started the tournament with flying colours but faltered when it mattered the most. Nevertheless, it is now time for both the teams to turn their attention the longest format of the game. They will be locking horns in the first Test in Chittagong on the 31st of January at 0930 local (0330 GMT). Before we leave, you can switch tabs to the on-going India and South Africa final Test where the Indians are on a roll to salvage some pride. Till then, take care and bye!
  • Sri Lanka skipper, Dinesh Chandimal, smiles and says they are over the moon as their hard work has paid off. Mentions Bangladesh are very strong at home and that they never underestimated them in their den. Admits it was a very tough wicket to bat on, especially if you are batting second. Reckons the partnership between Tharanga and Dickwella was very crucial. Appreciates the way the debutant, Madushanka bowled. Ends by thanking the selection committee and also Angelo Mathews for all that they have put in.
  • Man of the Series, Thisara Perera, says they came back strongly after losing the first two games. Mentions it is a good sign that Kusal Mendis is in form. Credits the batsmen and bowlers for their performance today. Informs he is working hard on his bowling with his bowling coach.
  • Man of the Match, Upul Tharanga, says it was difficult to score on such a wicket. Opines even though you are set, it was difficult to make runs. Adds the first ten overs were very crucial and Suranga Lakmal and Dushmantha Chameera bowled really well to keep things tight.
  • Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza, says it was a difficult wicket to bat on and that his bowlers did well to restrict Sri Lanka to a respectable total. Admits losing Shakib was a big blow as they need the experienced man in such a crunch game. Reckons all they needed was one good partnership. Appreciates Mahmudullah for the way he batted and showed how to go about on such a wicket. Ends by thanking the fans for the way they have supported them.
  • Dushmantha Chameera was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up the important wickets of Tamim and Sabbir to give his team an ideal start. Akila Dananjaya did well to put the breaks in between and also broke the vital stand which at once looked like taking the game away from them. Debutant, Madushanka finished things off with a hat-trick on debut which was the icing on the cake. Stay tune for the presentation...
  • Chasing 222 was never going to be easy considering the sluggish nature of the wicket and the way Sri Lanka bowled was exceptional. They were very disciplined with the new ball, not giving anything away and picking up three wickets (one being the big one of Tamim Iqbal) in the first Powerplay to dent the hosts to an extent. However, the stand between Rahim and Mahmudullah did bring them back into the game but once the former departed, the wickets started to fall at regular intervals and with Shakib out injured, it was always going to be an uphill task. Mahmudullah did play a fighting knock of 76 but lacked support from the other end and eventually perished.
  • After winning the toss, Chandimal elected to bat and they put up a fighting total on a pitch that started to crumble as the game progressed. Tharanga crafted his way to a fruitful half-century and was well supported by Dickwella first, and then Chandimal. After his departure, their skipper ensured that he stays for as long as possible to take the score over the 220-run mark. Rubel Hossain bowled really well for Bangladesh as he bagged four wickets.
  • A fairy tale ending for the Lankans as they have won the Tri-Series with a comprehensive win over the hosts. Not many would have given them a chance after they started off their campaign with two losses, especially the one against Zimbabwe. They now roared back in some style to silence the critics and have their name on the cup. Well played, Sri Lanka.
  • 41.1 OUT! In the air... gone! It's a Hat-trick on debut for Shehan Madushanka and he has sealed the deal for the Lankans. He lands it on a length around off, Mahmudullah comes down the track and tries to go over mid off. He gets it off the splice and it's a dolly for Akila Dananjaya in that region. Mahmudullah is the last man walking back after a fighting innings. All smiles on the Lankan faces as they barge towards the bowler to congratulate him. SRI LANKA BEAT BANGLADESH BY 79 RUNS TO WIN THE TRI-SERIES!
  • The debutant is on a hat-trick. Here he comes steaming in...
  • 40.6 Back of a length on off, guided to point. 142/8

  • 40.2 Full and wide outside off, Rahman tries to put bat to it but gets beaten.
  • 40.1 Length outside off, guided down to third man for a run. Interesting, Mahmudullah goes for a run and asks Rahman to face next 5 balls in this over.
  • Powerplay 3 has been signalled. Five fielders are now allowed outside the circle. Also, Mustafizur Rahman is the last man in as Shakib won't come out to bat.
  • 39.6 OUT! Two-in-two for Madushanka! Sri Lanka cruising towards victory! A good pacy delivery, full and on the stumps. Too good for a no. 10 batsman. He tries to swing at it but is beaten by sheer pace. Before he gets his bat down, the ball knocks the off stump back. A golden duck for Hossain and Shehan is on a hat-trick in his next over. 141/8
  • Rubel Hossain is the next man in.
  • 39.5 OUT! Maiden ODI wicket for Madushanka! Not the best delivery but he will be mighty pleased with it. A full toss, a waist height full toss on middle. Mortaza goes for the big slog but does not get anything behind the shot. He hits it flat to mid-wicket where Kusal Mendis takes a sharp catch. Mortaza stands in disbelief as he knows he would have put that ball away 9 out of 10 times but this is the one time he does not. He starts walking back but the umpires ask him to wait as they want to check for the no ball. Replays roll in and the front foot is termed okay. It was touch and go but the umpire rules it in the favour of the bowler. Also the ball is dipping and Mashrafe is given his marching orders. Sri Lanka are now just two wickets away as Shakib won't be batting.
  • 39.4 The captain tries to join in the fun with a heave but he mistimes it to mid-wicket.
  • 39.3 Nice batting! On a length around off, guided towards point for a quick run.
  • 39.2 Goes for another by coming down the track. He swings but connects with thin air. Easy Mahmudullah you have got the boundary you needed, play sensible now.
  • 39.1 FOUR! Great way to start the over! They needed this especially after a quiet last over. A short ball on middle, Mahmudullah takes on the challenge of pulling, he connects well and it goes over mid-wicket for a boundary. Two runs more than 80 needed of 65 balls.

  • 37.3 The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket.
  • 37.2 On a length around off, guided down to third man for a run.
  • 37.1 Full ball on middle, Mortaza hits it hard down the ground. The mid off fielder does well to run to his right, dive and make a half stop but can't stop the batsmen from taking two.
  • Shehan Madushanka is brought back on.
  • 36.6 Ball hits the batsman low on the pads. One run added to the total. Leg byes signalled by the umpire 129/6
  • 36.5 Fuller on off, driven through covers for a run.
  • 36.4 Back of a length on off, guided to point.
  • Mashrafe Mortaza walks out to the middle. He needs to play a captain's knock here.
  • 36.3 OUT! Oh no no no! A run out, the last thing Bangladesh wanted. Just as this partnership was building, Sri Lanka have been gifted with the breakthrough. Saifuddin taps the length ball towards Asela Gunaratne at short mid-wicket. Mahmudullah straightaway sets off for a run but Saifuddin is ball-watching. He later realizes that Mahmudullah is standing right next to him and shows good awareness by sacrificing his wicket as he tries to make it to the other end. Gunaratne too, shows great awareness as instead of throwing it, he runs towards the stumps and takes the bails off with a dive at the bowler's end. Saifuddin is well short. He takes the long walk back. Bangladesh still need another 95 from 81.
  • 36.2 Length around off, guided down to third man for a run.
  • 36.1 A full toss to start with on the pads. The batsman flicks it down to fine leg to give Mahmudullah the strike.

  • 35.1 Floats it up on off, driven back to the bowler.
  • 34.6 Bangs it in outside off, Saifuddin guides it down to third man for a run. 10 runs from the over. 103 from 90 now. 119/5

  • 34.4 Another single! 9 from the first 4 balls. Length ball around off, guided down to third man for a run.
  • 34.3 Sensible batting by Saifuddin as he tucks it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 34.2 Follows it up with a run by guiding it down to third man.
  • 34.1 SIX! Mahmudullah is on the charge here! What a shot this is! He comes down the track, gets a length ball which he sends sailing over the long off fence for a biggie.
  • Suranga Lakmal is back on.
  • 33.6 Yes, he does! Quicker on off, Saifuddin tries to defend but gets an inside edge onto his pads. 109/5

  • 32.2 The batsman gets an inside edge and the ball hits him on the pads.
  • 32.1 A big appeal but the umpire stays put! The manner in which the Lankans appealed showed how desperate they are for Mahmudullah's wicket. Dananjaya bowls a googly outside off, it turns back in. Mahmudullah tries to defend but the ball sneaks between the gap between bat and pad and goes to the keeper who takes it on the second attempt. The players put in a loud appeal, Akil has almost started celebrating but the umpire shakes his head.

Perera charges in, picks the ball up with his right hand and releases to take the stumps down at the bowler's end. Mithun drags his bat to get back in but seems to be a goner. They refer it upstairs and replays show the opener is well short of his ground.
