  • The Sri Lankan bowlers were once again not up to the mark as they kept leaking runs throughout. However, they did a really good job in the death overs, especially Perera, but the last over from Lakmal ruined it completely. Dananjaya was the best of the lot. Perera picked up three but went for runs as well. Pradeep, too, got two wickets but couldn't keep a check on the scoring rate. The pitch looks like a batting beauty and Sri Lanka should fancy their chances. Still, it will require a good display of batting if they are to open their account. Let's see how they fare this time around. Join us back shortly for the run chase...
  • 19 runs off the final over means that Bangladesh end their innings on a high. They won a good toss and decided to have a bat. Their openers laid a solid foundation with a 71-run stand. Tamim, Shakib, Rahim all scored fifties and there were four 50-plus stands in their innings which saw them motoring along well. Sabbir Rahman, then, towards the end hit a few lusty blows to provide the perfect finishing touch.
  • 49.6 FOUR! Strong finish from the hosts! In the zone for Rahman again. He backs away and flat-bats it over mid off to pick up another boundary. 19 from the last over. BANGLADESH FINISH ON 320/7.
  • 49.5 SIX! In the arc, out of the park! Length ball on middle, allows Rahman to line it up. He clears his front leg and heaves it over long on for a mammoth maximum.
  • 49.4 FOUR! Finds the fence again! On a length around off, Rahman makes room and goes inside out over extra cover. Chandimal gives it a long hard chase from mid off, slides and pulls the ball back in. The umpires check for it but the replays find that while trying to keep the ball in play, Chandimal's knee was in contact with it and his boot was touching the ropes. Hence, a boundary is signaled.
  • 49.3 Full ball outside off, Rahman drills it but straight to the man at covers.
  • 49.2 Around the hips, Mohammad tries to turn it away but the ball brushes his pads and rolls behind. The batsmen sneak in a leg bye.
  • 49.1 FOUR! Capitalizes on the loose delivery! Dishes out a full toss on middle, Saifuddin smashes it past the bowler for a boundary.
  • 48.6 Another fine yorker, carved away towards third man for a run. What an over from Perera, a wicket and only 4 from it. 301/7
  • 48.5 This is terrific bowling from Perera. Finds the blockhole again. Saifuddin keeps it out.
  • 48.4 Pinpoint yorker, dug out past mid off for a single.
  • 48.3 Played to the point region by the batsman. One run added to the total. 300 up for Bangladesh.
  • Mohammad Saifuddin is the next batsman.
  • 48.2 OUT! Plumb! Another great review from Sri Lanka. Full and accurate, tailing in prodigiously. Hossain tries to keep it out but seems to have missed it to get hit on the front boot. The Sri Lankans roar in appeal but the umpire stays put. Perera challenges the decision. Time for the replays. There is no bat involved. Ball Tracker shows three reds. Another one goes down.
  • Perera feels that he has caught Hossain in front of the stumps. Signals for the review instantly. Is it boot first?
  • 48.1 Slower delivery outside off, Rahman tries to sweep it but gets an outside edge to the off side. A run taken.
  • Nasir Hossain strides out to bat.
  • 47.6 OUT! What a screamer of a catch from Dananjaya! Take a bow. Slower ball on a shortish length, Mortaza gives himself room and pulls it over square leg. Has connected well but Dananjaya runs to his left and plucks it out of thin air. Appeared from the shadows and pounced on it with confidence. His teammates are jubilant! 297/6
  • 47.5 FOUR! Full toss outside off, Mortaza throws his bat at it and carves it over cover-point. Kusal Perera in the deep runs to his left, slides and tries to keep the ball in play but fails.
  • 47.4 Guided down to fine leg by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 47.3 FOUR! Like an arrow takes off from the bow of the archer, this one took off at lightning pace. In the arc for Rahman. He smashes it over mid on for a rocketing boundary.
  • 47.2 Almost another wicket! Short delivery at 111.6 clicks, Mortaza goes for the pull but fails to get hold of it. Ends up top edging it towards deep square leg but the ball goes on the bounce to the fielder.
  • 47.1 Around the hips, tucked to fine leg for a run.
  • 46.6 Hits the stumps but at the other end! Full ball on middle, Mortaza drills it but the ball crashes onto the stumps at the bowler's end. Deserved a boundary there. 286/5
  • 46.5 Fullish ball, clipped through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 46.4 Pushed to the cover region by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • Mashrafe Mortaza is the new man in. He will be aiming to finish with a flourish.
  • 46.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! A ripper of a delivery to get rid of the wicket-keeper batsman. Full and fast, tailing in. Rahim clears his front leg and goes for an agricultural slog but misses the line completely to get his stumps shattered. Perera picks up his second wicket. Rahim can prove to be dangerous at the fag end. Sri Lanka will be happy to get rid of him.
  • 46.2 FOUR! Tough luck, Dananjaya! Pitched up around off, Rahim makes room and crunches it past the diving fielder at covers. Dananjaya in the deep runs to his right, dives full length and pushes the ball in but is unfortunate as it rolls back to the ropes.
  • 46.1 Right on the money! His squarish arm at the point of delivering the ball helps him to bowl good yorkers. Right in the blockhole, tailing in. Rahim jams it out towards mid off.
  • Thisara Perera is back on.
  • 45.6 Sharp bouncer around off, Rahman sways away from it in a flash to evade it. 280/4

  • 45.2 Slower ball outside off, Rahim throws his bat at it but misses.
  • Sabbir Rahman is the new man in.
  • 45.1 OUT! Mahmudullah holes out against the run of play! Smart bowling from Pradeep to deceive the batsman. Bowls the leg cutter on middle and lands it on a good length, Mahmudullah uses his feet but is not quite to the pitch of the ball. Ends up miscuing it over mid on. Perera from the deep charges in, lines it up and takes a good catch. He has got a bucket like hands. End of a handy knock from the middle order batsman.
  • 44.6 Flighted ball outside off, Mahmudullah taps it past cover-point for a run. Yet another 50-run stand, the fourth consecutive one of the innings. This has been a good display of batting from the hosts. 277/3
  • 44.5 SIX! Going, going and gone! Tossed up delivery on middle, allows enough time for Mahmudullah to get underneath it. He chips down the track and tonks it to send it sailing into the long on stands. Meaty blow this!

  • 43.5 28th ODI fifty for Rahim! He came in and kept on ticking the scoreboard from the word go. Capitalized on the loose deliveries and has played an enterprising knock so far. Sits back and pulls it behind square leg for a couple.
  • 43.4 FOUR! Not convincing but good enough! Another slower ball, Rahim shuffles across and goes for the paddle scoop. Doesn't find the sweet spot of the bat but still manages to clear a leaping Dickwella to find the fence behind.
  • 43.3 Slower ball outside off, much better from Pradeep. Dabbed to third man for a single.
  • 43.2 FOUR! Terrific shot! Length delivery around off, Mahmudullah gives himself room and punches it on the up over the cover region. Got on top of the bounce and executed his inside out shot to perfection. Not the ideal length to be bowling at this stage.

  • 42.2 The batsman has driven it through mid on. One run added to the total.
  • 42.1 Well played but fails to find the gap! Fullish ball around off, Rahim reverse sweeps it but finds the man at short third man.

  • 41.5 Covers the line to this one and keeps it out watchfully.
  • 41.4 A chirpy appeal goes in vain! Tossed up on middle, spinning down. Mahmudullah tries to clip it but is hit on the pads. That was missing the leg stump.

  • 37.5 OUT! The fifth bowling option has provided a vital breakthrough! Brilliant catch by him to see the back of the danger man, Shakib. The all-rounder makes room and Gunaratne follows him with a flatter delivery on a shorter length. Shakib tries to flat-bat it but only manages to hit it from the toe end of his bat. Gunaratne in his followthrough is alert and takes a very fine catch with his fingers pointing upwards. The visitors need to keep chipping away at the wickets.
  • 37.4 A stifled appeal for a caught behind denied! Off cutter on off, Shakib backs away and tries to go inside out but misses it. Dickwella is again sharp as a hawk and collects it. Appeals but the umpire stays put. No bat involved there.

  • 36.5 FOUR! A shot of a man who is high on confidence! Lakmal continues to hit the deck hard. It doesn't work in his favour. Shakib lines it up and dumps it over mid-wicket to find the fence. The partnership between the two crosses 50. It has come in quick time as well, just in 46 balls to be precise. Bangladesh will be aiming to tee off.

  • 35.1 Shoddy from Sri Lanka! On a length on middle, turned through mid-wicket for a run. Lakmal who is chasing it is lazy and fumbles. Concedes another run.

Fuller length ball on off, Shakib drives it on the up towards mid off and sets off. The fielder aims at the bowler's end as Shakib dives to make his crease but misses his target. • Time for drinks. Meanwhile, there is a bowling change. Perera is back into the attack. Chandimal is having a chat with him. The visitors need to find a way to stem the run-flow. Picking up wickets is the best way to do that or else Bangladesh will keep on dominating the proceedings.
  • 32.6 FOUR! Poor delivery and duly punished! Half tracker on leg stump, asking to be hit. Shakib obliges and pulls it with authority over square leg. The fielder in the deep hares across to his right but only comes second best. 11 from the over, Bangladesh are motoring along nicely. 192/2

  • 29.2 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim strides out to bat.
  • 29.1 OUT! A judicious use of the review! The entire credit must go to Dickwella. Dananjaya gets the big fish! Bowls this one slow through the air around off and gets it to spin away. Iqbal tries to defend it but fails to do so properly. Dickwella takes it sharply behind and also flicks the bails off. He walks down the track and instantly signals for the 'T'. The skipper has the right though to do that. Chandimal permits the usage of the DRS. Time for the replays. They check for the stumping first (strangely). Well, the opener's back foot is grounded. The main question is whether there is an edge or not. The Snicko rolls in and it spots a definite deflection. OUT flashes on the giant screen and the Sri Lankans are relieved. End of a brilliant knock and also the 99-run stand. Can the visitors capitalize on this?
  • Sri Lanka feel that they have got their man! This can be a real crucial breakthrough for them. Dickwella is confident that Iqbal has got an outside edge behind. He doesn't even turn to his captain and signals for the review immediately. Let's find out.

  • 26.5 FOUR! Dismissed from its presence! The short ball ploy is not working at all. Agreed that it brought in a wicket but it is sitting up nicely at the moment for the batsmen. On middle this time, Shakib nails the pull through mid-wicket to find the fence.

  • 23.4 SIX! Clean as a whistle! Tossed up ball on middle, Iqbal is nimble on his feet and smokes it down the ground to send it sailing over the sightscreen. That came off the meat of the bat, no half measures there.
  • 23.3 Fuller in length, eased off the front foot to extra cover.
  • 23.2 Well played! Slow through the air outside off on a fullish length, Iqbal waits for it and dabs it deftly past the keeper. Perera hares after it and keeps the batsmen down to a couple.

  • Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza says they will bat first. Adds they batted well in the first game and hence the decision. States it would be a different task against Sri Lanka as they are a much difficult side.
  • TOSS - Bangladesh win the toss and opt to bat!
  • The hosts are a much-balanced side as compared to Zimbabwe and it will require a huge effort on Sri Lanka's part to compete against them. Will Bangladesh continue with the winning momentum or will Sri Lanka open their account? Stay tuned as the toss report is coming up in a bit.
  • Welcome to match 3 of the tri-nation series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The hosts marched their way to a comprehensive win against Zimbabwe in the opening fixture while it has gone all downhill for Sri Lanka as they lost a thriller against the African nation. It means that they come into this game with a lot of pressure and to add to it, they will be without their regular skipper, Angelo Mathews who has coped a blow on his hamstring.
  • The rise of the Asian minnows has coincided with the fall of one of the Asian giants. Bangladesh continue to take giant steps and their transformation from cubs to tigers has been very impressive. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are going from bad to worse with their every performance and are in some sort of crisis. Something needs to be done before the Lankan Lions become an endangered species. That's all from this game. Do join us on Sunday for the 4th ODI of this tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka (once again). The action will begin at 1200 local (0600 GMT). Cheers!
  • The Man of the Match Award winner Shakib Al Hassan walks in for a chat. He credits all the batsmen for performing as a unit. Feels that Rahim's knock was very vital and praises Tamim for his innings. Adds that they need to keep improving and cannot afford to relax. Hopes that they continue to play in this manner and do all the things right. Also says that they will have to play three games in the space of five days, so they need to get everything right.
  • The Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza comes in next. He is delighted with the win and says that they have played well in recent times and need to keep going. He adds that there is something to learn from each game. Feels that Tamim should have got a hundred and praises Rahim for his knock. On their bowling performance, Mashrafe replies that they struggled in South Africa but now they are back home and are bowling well. Admits that 320 looked tough but some good batting from Sabbir Rahman helped them. Further adds that Sabbir used to bat at number 3 for them but they felt the need for someone who can hit the ball as hard as him later in the innings. Emphasizes on the fact that they need the top five batsmen to play 40-45 overs like today to be in a good position.
  • First up is the Sri Lanka captain, Dinesh Chandimal. Says that he is disappointed with the loss. Admits that they have been going through a bad patch in ODIs in the recent past and they need to get back to winning ways. Credits Bangladesh for the way they played today. On being asked about the key players missing out and his frame of mind, he opines that it is really tough to pick the first team and repeats that they need to win a couple of games to get back on track. Continues saying that they will go back and think over their performance. Also feels that they still have a chance to enter the final and will have to win the next game.
  • It was a clinical performance by the Bangla Tigers. They showed intent in their batting and posted a big total on the board. Their batsmen showed maturity and never let the momentum slip. In total, they managed four consecutive 50-plus stands which in a way was the difference between the two sides. They were terrific in the field too with their skipper leading from the front. Shakib had an amazing outing and once again proved his value with an all-round show.
  • For chasing a target in excess of 300, you need partnerships. The fact that Sri Lanka's best stand was 41 speaks volume. They never got their run chase going. The regular fall of wickets made it impossible for them to gather any momentum. Plenty of starts for their batsmen but none got converted into anything substantial. An abject surrender from one-time world champions and they are just not improving. With every game, they are only going backwards and require a big turnaround to stand even a chance to qualify for the final.
  • Massive, massive win for Bangladesh! They overpowered Sri Lankan by a handsome margin to register their biggest victory in this format (by runs). An extraordinary effort by the Bangla boys as they once again proved that they are a force to reckon with, especially at home. • 28.1 Darts this full, Perera works it through mid-wicket for one.

  • 25.5 OUT! Shakib is on a hat-trick! A nothing shot from Hasaranga. This is not the shot anybody would be proud of first up. He needed to stick in with Perera but now can only watch from the balcony. A tossed up ball outside off, Hasaranga goes for the slog sweep over the leg side.
