Date: Wednesday, 14 March, 2018 23:11 IST Venue: R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo Match Status: Match Ended

India beat Bangladesh by 17 runs

  • Bangladesh were never in this to be honest. Right from the first ball. It's evident from the fact that they only managed to get three wickets, with two coming in the final over of the innings. Rubel Hossain was the standout bowler, having picked up 2 wickets for just 27 runs in his 4-over spell, while Nazmul Islam was good as well. The rest weren't quite up to the mark and leaked runs. The run chase won't be easy now, despite the wicket known to ease out for the batters as the game progresses. Let's see how it unfolds. Join us in a short while.
  • The Men in Blue have a more than satisfactory total on the board. Being put into bat and given the wicket, they needed a good start and that's what they got. Questions were raised about Rohit Sharma's form and today he came out to prove everyone wrong. Make no mistake, he struggled, but he toughened it out there and eventually started to middle it towards the end. He first formed a 70-run stand with Shikhar Dhawan to set the tone, then blew the Tigers away with Suresh Raina, who came in and thwarted the bowlers without wasting any time. The century stand between, in which Rohit almost got to his ton, was enough to propel them past the 170-mark and be in a comfortable position.
  • 19.6 OUT! Rohit Sharma is run out! Misses out on a ton and this is an excellent over from Rubel Hossain. Conceded just 4 off it. Full on off, Rohit smashes it hard back to him. Rubel stops it, and since it's the last ball of the over, the batsmen run. This allows the bowler to run back and take the bails off. Rohit is out but it's been a superb knock to say the least from him. INDIA FINISH ON 176/3!
  • 19.5 Superb ball. Beautiful delivery as Rubel spears it in the blockhole. Karthik jams it out through to sweeper cover and takes one.
  • 19.4 Stifled appeal, but the inside edge has saved Sharma there. Inswinging yorker on middle and leg, the batsman swings and gets an edge onto his pads before taking the run.
  • 19.3 Quite full, swinging in, smacked down to long on by going deep inside the crease. Karthik is off the mark.
  • 19.2 Short of a good length angling in, hits Sharma on the body as he misses his pull. A leg bye is taken as the ball falls on the off side.
  • Dinesh Karthik to walk in next to bat.
  • 19.1 OUT! Suresh Raina just misses out on his fifty! Bit unfortunate, played exceptionally well, fully deserved it. But, he's done his job nonetheless. Full on the pads, Raina lofts it over mid-wicket. Not enough distance on this one as it's into the hands of Soumya Sarkar who takes it after moving to his left.
  • Rubel Hossain to bowl the last over of the innings.
  • 18.6 Fuller from Rahman, Raina gets it off the inner half while trying to swing to square leg. One run to end the over. 11 runs off the over. 172/1
  • 18.5 Skips down the track to get close to the pitch and hits it down the ground for a single.
  • 18.4 FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries for the Indian captain! The 100-run stand between these two comes up with that as well. Fine hit by Rohit Sharma. Full toss outside off, he opens the face and runs it down to the third man boundary.
  • 18.3 FOUR! Full toss with width on offer outside off, Rohit walks a step across, swings and scythes it over point for a boundary.
  • 18.2 Mistimed pull to this short ball, down to long on for a single.
  • 18.1 Takes Raina by surprise with the bumper. Well directed, no shot offered by the batsman.
  • 17.6 SIX! Rohit Sharma, you beautiful, beautiful man! Speechless at this. His power hitting is just something else. High full toss, not enough for the umpire to signal a no ball. Rohit swings hard across the line and it's high into the night sky. Has the height and the distance as well as it clears the mid-wicket boundary with ease. 161/1
  • 17.5 In the blockhole from Abu Hider, it's driven down to long on for one.
  • 17.4 SIX! Raina's been immaculate since he's walked out in the middle. This isn't that short, but he still takes on the pull off the front foot. Swings hard and sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum.
  • 17.3 Good comeback from the bowler. Fires in a yorker on middle stump, Rohit digs it out off the inside edge past the leg stump behind. One run taken.
  • 17.2 SIX! Another big one for Rohit Sharma! Right off the meat. Short ball angling in from around the wicket, the opener stands tall and takes on the pull. Connects well and muscles the pull over mid-wicket for half a dozen.
  • 17.1 Just back of a length outside off, slashed to point. One run added to the total.
  • Abu Hider Rony is back.
  • 16.6 Shorter on off, the southpaw backs away and places the punch to sweeper cover for a single. 140/1
  • 16.5 The batsman has driven it through mid off. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 16.4 SIX! Might be struggling, but he's connected this one really well. Full ball on the pads, Sharma kneels down and brings out the slog sweep. Dumps it over square leg and into the stands, where a spectator manages to take the catch. Nicely done, good man. Maybe the Tigers could have used him on the field.
  • 16.3 Just behind a length, punched away through towards sweeper cover for one.
  • 16.2 FOUR! Beautiful! He's such a delight to watch when he's in full flow. Short ball just outside off, Raina cuts this over short third man and picks up a boundary.
  • 16.1 Cutter on leg, Sharma looks to flick it away through mid-wicket but instead spoons a leading edge to long off. Easy single taken. Unable to middle it, Rohit. He's had to work hard for his knock so far. Hanging in there, which probably is the most important part given Raina is hitting them well.
  • Mustafizur Rahman to bowl again.
  • 15.6 Punched off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single. 126/1
  • 15.5 Short in length once again, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 15.4 Mistimed shot but no harm done. Rohit comes down the track, goes for the big hoick but can't connect properly. Plays it down towards wide long on and rotates strike.
  • 15.3 Spinning away from around the off stick, knocked to the long off fielder for a single.
  • 15.2 FOUR! And the 50-stand is up! Brought up in superb style by Raina. Dropped short, he goes deep inside his crease, positions himself well for the pull and executes the placement to perfection as he beats the two men out in the deep to the mid-wicket fence.
  • 15.1 Starts off from around the wicket and darts it across the right-hander. Rohit Sharma waits for it before he cuts it square on the off side for a run.
  • Mahmudullah brings himself into the bowling attack.
  • 14.6 Brings the wrists into play as he turns this through wide mid on. The man in the deep cuts it off and keeps the batsmen to two. Good over for the Indians, 13 runs off this one. 117/1
  • 14.5 FOUR! Consecutive boundaries for Suresh Raina! He picked this up perfectly. Expected the yorker to come, so he leaned ahead and just lofted it over mid on for a boundary.
  • 14.4 FOUR! Edged and away! Short ball banged in, Raina clears his front leg and takes on the pull, but gets a top edge over the keeper's head. Mustafizur from fine leg comes across to cut it off, but his sloppy effort allows the ball to go through him and away to the fence behind.
  • 14.3 Makes sweet connection but unfortunately for Raina, it's straight to the fielder. He backs away to the full swinging ball and drives, finds extra cover though.
  • 14.2 Right in the blockhole. Good delivery, but equally well played by the Indian captain. He digs it out down to long on and takes just the one this time.
  • 14.1 Attempted yorker which misses, ends up becoming a low full toss. Rohit hits it down the ground, towards long on and gets a double for it.
  • Rubel Hossain back into the attack.
  • 13.6 Straighter one on off, takes the inside edge of Raina's bat and thuds onto his pads. 104/1
  • 13.5 Stays back to this one spinning away from around off and plays it to point.
  • 13.4 FOUR! That's blasted away! Raina holding nothing back on that. He dances down the track, gets close to the pitch and hammers it straight back down the ground for a boundary.
  • 13.3 SIX! Connects this one to perfection! BANG! Tossed right up there by Hasan, Raina gets down to this one and slog sweeps it high and handsome over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
  • 13.2 Could have got out there. Raina is taken by surprise by the lack of pace on the ball. He checks his shot and almost spoons a catch to short extra cover.
  • 13.1 Quicker through the air and attacking the stumps, it's hit aerially down to long on by Rohit Sharma for one run.
  • Mehidy Hasan comes back on to bowl.
  • 12.6 Sharma leans ahead to this fuller length ball and eases it to long off to retain strike. 93/1
  • 12.5 Hangs back and offers a firm punch through the covers for one more.
  • 12.4 Fifty for Rohit Sharma! His 13th in this format and a much-deserved one. He needed this. He comes down the track and hits it through covers.
  • 12.3 FOUR! That's a very good shot from the Indian skipper! Too full from the left armer, Rohit is able to get low to it and sweep it over short fine leg for a scintillating boundary.
  • 12.2 Over the wicket now, fuller outside off, Suresh Raina drills it square through point and crosses over.
  • 12.1 Full toss from around the wicket, Rohit hits this down the ground towards long on for a single.
  • Abu Hider Rony returns to the attack.
  • 11.6 Cutting back in from around off, on a good length, goes off Raina's pads and falls on the off side. Dot ball to end the over. 84/1
  • 11.5 Down the leg side this time, pulled straight to short fine leg. The batsmen take off quickly and complete the run.
  • 11.4 Short of a good length on the body, worked away through square leg for a couple of runs.
  • 11.3 Shaping away from around off, on a back of a length, possibly a slower one too. Rohit looks to run it down to third man for a single but can't connect.
  • 11.2 Darts this extremely full, on the stumps. Rohit Sharma walks out of his crease and plays it back to the bowler.
  • 11.1 Good length delivery on off stump, Raina walks across, comes down the track as well and works it to mid-wicket for a brisk single.
  • Mustafizur Rahman is back into the attack.
  • 10.6 Works it through mid-wicket for a brace. 9 runs from this over but end of a good spell by Islam. His figures read, 4-0-27-0. 80/1
  • 10.5 SIX! A much needed one for India! Sharma comes down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence. This should break the shackles now.
  • 10.4 Floats it up on off, kept out.
  • 10.3 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single.
  • 10.2 Tosses it up on off, defended.
  • 10.1 A full toss, a gift for Raina. He though is surprised by it as he hits it back to the bowler.
  • 9.6 Raina almost got dismissed off his first ball! He gets a ball down the leg side, Raina flicks it uppishly towards fine leg. The fielder there has to make up his mind quickly whether to go for the catch or not. He does not go for it and it lands on the bounce. He should have take a chance there, he might have got to it. 71/1
  • Suresh Raina is the next man in.
  • 9.5 OUT! A CORKER OF A YORKER! What a delivery by Rubel Hussain. That dropped catch has not cost Bangladesh a lot. Liton Das will surely be breathing a sigh of a relief here. Rubel comes steaming in and bowls an effort delivery. A yorker to be precise and also gets it to tail away from leg stump. Dhawan plays all around it and misses it to see his middle stump get knocked out. A brilliant sight for the bowler and a much-needed wicket for the bowling side. They have broken the 70-run stand. It has also been a good phase for them and they would now look to build on it.
  • 9.4 Nicely bowled! Full and tailing back in. Sharma hits it down to long on for a run.
  • 9.3 Slower ball outside off, Dhawan goes for the heave but does not time it as it goes towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 9.2 Shortish on middle, pulled towards short mid-wicket.
  • 9.1 Rohit tries to take him on by coming down the track. He though gets an inside edge onto the pads. The ball rolls towards the keeper and the batsmen set off for a run. The keeper has a shy at his end but misses.
  • Rubel Hossain is back on.
  • 8.6 Darts it on middle, driven back to the bowler. A dot to finish, a good tight over by the bowler. His figures read, 3-0-18-0. 67/0

  • 8.4 Tosses it up on off, Rohit tries to push it down the ground but gets an outside edge towards short third man.

  • 7.1 Tosses it up on off, driven down to long on for a run.
  • Mehidy Hasan is back on.
  • 6.6 That ball has taken the inside edge of the batsman and thudded into his pads. 54/0
  • 6.5 A huge appeal! Dhawan goes for the sweep but misses and is hit on the pads. The bowler appeals but the umpire shakes his head. The impact was outside off and more importantly, it hit the glove first.
  • 6.4 The batsman has driven it through mid on.
  • 6.3 DROPPED AND FOUR! That has been horribly misjudged by Liton Das! Dhawan comes down the track and tries to go big over the leg side. He however, only gets elevation but no distance. It goes towards deep mid-wicket where Das does not judge it and then dives to his right with his hand stretched out. He gets his hand to it but can't hang on. To add salt to the wounds, it rolls away for a boundary. A reprieve for Dhawan, he has been in form, how costly will this prove?
  • 6.2 Floats it up on off, worked towards mid-wicket.
  • 6.1 Tosses it up on off, driven through mid off for a run. 50 up for India.
  • Nazmul Islam is back on.
  • 5.6 FOUR! Dhawan takes full toll of it! A full ball on off, Shikhar lofts it over the mid off fielder for a boundary. A good Powerplay for India, they are 49 for no loss. 49/0

  • 4.2 Shorter on off, pushed down to long off for a single.
  • 4.1 Fires it on the stumps, pushed down to long on for a run.
  • Mehidy Hasan is into the attack now.
  • 3.6 SIX! No, he can't! What a hit, son! Dhawan comes down the track, expecting a slower one and he gets it. He sends it sailing over the bowler's head and he has hit it well enough for it to go all the way. First of the game. 27/0
  • 3.5 Good bowling this! Once again hits the length around middle, bowls the cutter. Sharma can't do a lot with it as he just taps it towards mid off for a quick run. Just three singles of this over so far. Can he finish it well?
  • 3.4 Good length on middle, cramping Dhawan for room. He eases it down to mid on and takes a single.

  • 3.1 On the pads, worked around the corner for a run.
  • Mustafizur Rahman is into the attack.

  • 2.5 In the air... but just out of reach! Rohit almost bagged another failure. Rubel lands it on a length around middle, Sharma tries to go over the top but mistimes it completely. It goes uppishly over the bowler's head and there are two fielders converging for it, one from mid on and the other from mid off. Rony from the former position goes for it with a full stretch dive but can't reach it. A run taken by the batsmen.
  • 2.4 Walks down the track and makes it a full toss. He though could not time it as it was bowled at a good pace. It goes towards mid off and the batsmen take a run.
  • 2.3 Good effort delivery on off, it zips off the surface. Dhawan could only guide it to point. He sets off for a run but is sent back.
  • 2.2 Back of a length on off, Rohit guides it through backward point. He runs the first one hard but Mustafizur in the deep does well to keep it to one.
  • 2.1 Length ball on the stumps, Rohit keeps it out.
  • Rubel Hossain is into the attack.
  • 1.6 FOUR! Second of the over! A good way to get off the mark for Dhawan. Short and down the leg side, this is the bowler's sixth consecutive short delivery. Dhawan goes on the back foot and paddle sweeps it very fine towards the fine leg fence. 9 runs from this over. A poor over by the spinner, could have been hit for more. 11/0
  • 1.5 Flatter but on the shorter side, pushed down to long off to change strike.
  • 1.4 Drags his length back outside off, Sharma cuts it hard but straight to the point fielder. He should have put that away as there was width on offer also.
  • 1.3 Shortish on off, cut towards point. Rohit wanted a run but is rightly sent back by Dhawan.
  • 1.2 FOUR! First of the match! Very slow and on the shorter side on the stumps. Rohit Sharma has all the time in the world to rock back and whip it through wide mid on for a boundary.
  • 1.1 Slower through the air on off, Sharma who is quite watchful guides it to point.
  • Nazmul Islam will bowl the second over.
  • 0.6 Another slower ball on off, defended to point. A couple off the first over, a good one by the bowler. 2/0

  • 0.4 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 0.3 Fuller in length on off, Sharma defends it.
  • 0.3 WIDE! First run for India and it is courtesy an extra. Short and wide outside off, Rohit walks ahead and tries to cut but misses it.
  • 0.2 A good second delivery. The bowler comes running in and bowls it on a length around off, it comes back in sharply. Sharma is done in by the swing and tries to defend it with bat close to pad. The Bangladeshis make a muted appeal but the umpire stays put. Replays however, show it was pad first. It would have been close had the fielding side taken a review.
  • 0.1 The left armer starts around the wicket and bowls it short, a slower one outside off. Rohit goes after it but mistimes it to cover-point. It was a loosener but Rohit could not make full use of it.

  • The players are out for their respective national anthems. The Indians will sing their first followed by the Bangladeshis.

He is happy with the way his team performed in the last game, both with the ball and the bat. Admits it is a new game and they have to start from scratch. (On his own form) He adds he just has to spend a little time in the middle but the performance of the team matters more. States he wants to lead by example but unfortunately he has been lackluster till now. Informs they have one change as Mohammed Siraj comes in for Jaydev Unadkat.

Reckons the wicket gets better as the game progresses. Informs they motivated themselves before the chase in the last game and they are looking forward for this game. Ends by saying they have one change for today as Abu Hider Rony comes in for Taskin Ahmed.
  • Toss - Bangladesh win the toss and they opt to bowl first.

Further adds it is a lot drier and mentions it is the third time the wicket has been used. Reckons there will be something for the fast bowlers and later on, there will be something for the spinners. He feels 170-180 will be a good score on this wicket.
  • India on the other hand, are back to regular business after a surprise defeat in the first game. After two back-to-back victories, they will look to seal their spot in the final with a win here. Their players are firing on all cylinders and Rohit Sharma will hope for the same. The last time these two sides met, we saw a lop-sided affair with the Men in Blue coming out victorious. One though would predict a better show from the Bangladeshis tonight. Let us hope for an equal display between bat and ball. Stay tuned for the toss and the line-ups.
  • Hello and welcome to the 5th game of the Tri-Series in Sri Lanka between India and Bangladesh. We are now at the business end of the tournament with India sitting at the top of the table and the Bangla Tigers down at the bottom. The latter now can't afford any slip-ups as it would further dent their chances of making it to the finals. They though will be high in confidence heading into this game as they are coming on the back of a brilliant performance. However, their bowling is an issue and they might make some changes to their bowling attack.

Bangladesh Vs India Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • So that is it from this game. India have now won three games in a row in this tournament and have booked their place in the final. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have everything to play for against Sri Lanka as the winner will join India in the final. That game will be played on the 16th of March in Colombo at 1900 local (1330 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
  • Man of the Match and India captain, Rohit Sharma, says it was important for him to step up as he had mentioned in the toss. He felt they were 10-15 runs short and credits the way Bangladesh bowled in the death. Appreciates Washington Sundar's spell at the start. Reckons the wicket was on the slower side as it was gripping and turning. Further adds it was not easy to play the shots and hence he took his time. States the partnership between him and Suresh Raina was key. Acknowledges the courage shown by Sundar as he provided them with the wickets when they needed it. Ends by saying Mohammed Siraj is a great talent and he has the skills to execute what the captain asks for.
  • Bangladesh captain, Mahmudullah, says he is disappointed with the effort. Credits Mushfiqur Rahim for the way he batted. He feels the chase was on and they needed a good start which they did not get. Reckons 10 runs less would have made a difference. Mentions the plan in the death overs was to take the pace off and stick to their strengths but it did not work out for them. Ends by saying they have an opportunity to prove themselves in the next game and they are looking forward for it.
  • For India, Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers with a three-fer. He was well supported by Chahal and the two combined to end with figures of 8-0-43-4. Siraj, however, once again had a day to forget. He did pick a wicket towards the end but was taken for 50 runs in his 4 overs. Nevertheless, a good victory for India. Stay tuned for the presentation...
  • Chasing 177 was never going to be easy on a wicket which was a little sluggish and the start for Bangladesh was also not good. They lost the accelerator of their last game, Liton Das, early. Tamim Iqbal though continued playing his shots and got the Bangla Tigers off to a flier. However, Washington Sundar spun a web around the opposition batsmen as he picked up three big wickets in the Powerplay. Mahmudullah did show intent after coming on but he fell prey to another spinner, Chahal. Then Sabbir and Rahim joined forces and did provide hope with a 65-run stand, but once the former departed it was too much of an ask for Rahim who once again notched up a fifty and remained unbeaten.
  • India are into the finals with another victory over Bangladesh, who are yet to win a T20I game against the Men in Blue. It was all set up by their skipper Rohit Sharma who played an outstanding knock in the first innings and then their bowlers followed it up and ensured they come out on top.

  • Abu Hider Rony to bat next.
  • 19.2 OUT! In the air... taken! Something to rejoice for Siraj as he gets Miraj. He bowls a knuckle ball on middle and on a length. Hasan had to go for the biggie and he does so. He however, does not connect well and lobs it up in the air towards long off where Raina does not drop it.

  • 17.6 No ball it is! Siraj bowls a high full toss which Rahim mistimes and hits it straight up in the air towards the bowler who takes a catch. However, he has a chance of a run out as Rahim goes for a run and is way short. He though misses his shy at the non-striker's end and the batsmen complete a run. The umpires are not sure about the no ball and they go upstairs to check. The replays show the ball to be above the waist and it is given in the favor of the batsman.
  • They have gone to check upstairs for the no ball for height. If it is not one Rahim has been caught and bowled but it seems a little high to me. A tough call for the umpire.
  • 17.5 A short ball, a surprise one on middle. Rahim tries to upper cut but misses. He just needed to get bat to that one but could not. The third man fielder was up and he could have fetched himself another boundary.

He also brings up his 4th T20I fifty and it is also back-to-back fifties for him. The question here is though, can he pull a rabbit out of the hat?

  • 16.5 Guided through point for a run.
  • Mehidy Hasan is the next man in.
  • 16.4 OUT! TIMBER! Shardul Thakur gets the wicket which probably seals the game and the spot in the final for the Indians. A brilliant slower ball on off, it stays a touch low. Sabbir had to go for it and he goes across the line. He misses it completely and the ball kisses the off pole. Shardul is off for a celebratory run as he has broken the 65-run stand. Nevertheless, a good knock by Sabbir comes to an end but his team needed him to be there till the end. 51 needed of 20.
  • 16.3 Fuller on off, guided it through point for a brace.
  • 16.2 FOUR! A much, much-needed boundary. A short ball on off, Sabbir picks the length early and pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary.

  • 14.6 The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. Two runs added to the total. 61 in 30. Two tight overs for India. Bangladesh need a big one now. 116/4
  • 14.5 Clever bowling! Bowls it slow once again on middle, Sabbir goes down on one knee and tries to sweep but misses to get hit on the pads. He then sets off for a run but is sent back by Rahim. The bowler who is appealing on his followthrough, turns and then picks the ball up and has a shy at the keeper's end but misses. Had he hit, it would have been interesting.
  • 14.4 Punched off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 14.3 Comes down the track and gets a full toss. Sabbir mistimes it and the ball goes towards deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 14.2 What an effort by Shardul Thakur, great commitment by the fast bowler especially after bowling the over before this one. Sabbir charges down the track and gets a ball on the leg stump. He goes for the flick but the ball takes the top edge and goes towards backward square leg region. Thakur in the deep runs to his right, dives but can't get to it. • 13.4 Another single! Excellent stuff from Thakur. He bowls it full and wide outside off, Rahim squeezes it through point for a run.

  • 11.2 A couple to follow! Good batting, he flicks this full ball in the gap through mid-wicket and gets a brace. 6 from the first two. They need something around 11 in each over.
  • 11.1 FOUR! Ideal start to the over! A full and wide ball outside off, Rahim slaps it over covers and there is no stopping that ball. Early boundary in the over, pressure on the bowler now.
  • 10.6 A dot to finish! But 16 from the over. On a length around off, kept out. 97 needed now from 54. 80/4

  • 10.1 Was there an edge? A lot of the Indians felt so but Karthik did not appeal! Siraj starts off really well by landing it on a length around off, it straightens a touch. Rahim tries to defend but he seems to have missed it. There is though a noise as the ball passes the bat. The players appeal but the umpire remains put. Replays later on show that the bat had hit his front pad, good decision by the umpire.

  • 9.6 Back of a length, around off, Sabbir opens the face of the bat and dabs it to backward point. 64/4

  • 8.5 Landed on middle, spinning away a touch, Rahman is forward in defense.
  • Sabbir Rahman is the next batsman in.
  • 8.4 OUT! Mahmudullah's little cameo comes to an end. Shorter in length on the stumps, Mahmudullah camps back and pulls it over mid-wicket looking to clear the fence. Doesn't connect well at all, and it's a simple catch for KL Rahul out in the deep who comes in a few steps and pouches it.
  • 8.3 Superb delivery. Leg break around off, spins as Mahmudullah closes the face to work it across the line. It goes off the leading edge and down to short third man.

  • 6.1 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 5.6 FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries to end the over! Mahmudullah charges out and smacks it over mid off for a boundary. Despite this, it's been an excellent over from Washington. A wicket and 9 runs from it. Bangladesh finish the Powerplay on 48/3, while India were 49/0 at the end of it. 48/3
  • 5.5 FOUR! Freebie to get off the mark! Short and wide, Mahmudullah cuts it hard through point for a boundary.
  • Mahmudullah to bat next.
  • 5.4 OUT! Third wicket in his third over! Young Washington Sundar is ripping through the Bangladesh batting line-up. And the Powerplay isn't even over yet. He's got the big fish this time. Bowls it quicker and flatter on middle, it keeps angling down, Tamim moves inside to play the slog sweep but misses it completely and the ball takes the leg bail after that. India rejoice, they know this could be their moment.
  • 5.3 Flatter ball sliding in on leg, the left-hander backs away and punches it away to the covers.
  • 5.2 Was that out? It looks like it in real time. Oh dear... could it be? No review left, India might be hard done by on this. Drifts in at first from around the wicket and then spins away, beats the hanging bat of Tamim Iqbal and catches him on the back pad. The umpire shuts down the lbw appeal, possibly height an issue? Not sure, but either way, Tamim survives.
  • 5.1 Leg break on the stumps, driven through the covers for one.
  • 4.6 Defended solidly from inside the crease. End of a decent over from the leggie. 39/2

  • Mushfiqur Rahim walks in next.
  • 3.4 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Second in as many overs for Washington Sundar. The kid is pulling off yet another magical performance in the Powerplay. After that beating in the previous over, this is just what India needed. A tidy over and a vital wicket. From around the wicket, it's bowled full. It drifts in as Sarkar goes for a heave. He misses and the bails are knocked off. Bangladesh need 142 to win off 98 balls.
  • 3.3 Flatter on the stumps, angling in, it's whipped away through the mid-wicket region for a run.

  • 1.3 Tossed right up there, blocked off the front foot with the full face of the bat.
  • 1.2 Straighter one on the stumps, worked away on the leg side.
  • 1.1 Not out! Wasted review to be honest. Looked clearly not out to the naked eye to begin with. Das gives the charge to this loopy full toss. Misses and is hit high on the thigh pad. Appeal goes up, but nothing from the umpire. The impact is outside off and the batsman is way down the track, but for some reason the review is taken. Maybe Dinesh Karthik asks to take it. It goes upstairs and replays show the batsman is clearly safe. Poor call. The review should never have been taken.
  • And the review is taken. Drama on the first ball of Sundar's spell. Liton Das is the man in question, looks quite safe, but let's see what happens here...
  • Washington Sundar will bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 Touch wide outside off, guided behind point, down towards third man for a run. Decent first over for the Tigers, 8 off it. 8/0
  • 0.5 Nicely done. Fraction straight in line, Liton Das is off the mark with a brace as he works it through mid-wicket.
  • 0.4 Just behind a length, around off, Tamim walks down to hit but gets it off the bottom edge towards cover, where a misfield from KL Rahul allows the batsmen to take a single.
  • 0.3 Camps back to this good length ball and keeps it out with the full face of the bat.
  • 0.2 FOUR! And he cuts loose! Doesn't waste time in doing so. Short of a good length close to off, Tamim is up on his toes as he slashes this hard over point to find the fence.
  • 0.1 Back of a length around off, Tamim cuts hard but straight to the man at point.
  • We are back for the chase. Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das will open the innings for Bangladesh, while Mohammed Siraj will take the ball first up. A slip in place for him. Here we go...
