  • The Australian bowling was good to begin with. The did manage to take wickets at regular intervals but were not able to capitalize. They had no answers to the carnage by the English men towards the end. The wicket is a touch slow and hence this won't be easy to chase. Will we see the Australia putting up a strong show with the bat or will the English side clinch the series with a victory? Join us for the chase in a while.
  • After being put into bat, the English side got off to a decent start but two quick wickets in between and some tight bowling in between brought the rate down drastically. Also, they found it difficult to score runs in between and were struggling at 107 for 4. But Morgan and Buttler then played watchful cricket and steadied the ship. They stitched a 65-run partnership and set a platform for the batsmen to follow. They though were helped by the dropped catches and missed run outs by the Australians. However, after the latter departed nine short of his half ton, Woakes and Buttler, who scored his fifth century, ensured the away side get up to a total which is way above par by building an unbeaten 113-run stand from 71 balls.
  • What a comeback from England! 102 from the last 10. Courtesy a brilliant stand between Woakes and Buttler. They both walk off to a standing ovation from the crowd and they deserve every bit of it. They have put England in control here.
  • 49.6 Buttler gets it. Take a bow! What an innings this has been. It is his fifth ton in ODIs and what a time to get it. His team was in big trouble when he came out and he scores a match turning knock you can say. Starc bowls a low full toss on middle, Buttler mistimes it towards long on and he scampers back for two. He is overwhelmed as he lets out a roar and also raises his bat for the applause by the crowd. Excellent end for England as 14 runs came of this over and also 38 runs from the last two. ENGLAND FINISH WITH 302 for 6!
  • 49.5 He does give Buttler the strike now by guiding it towards point. A couple needed for him off the last ball.
  • 49.4 SIX! One run short of 300! 10 runs from the last two balls. Starc bangs it short on middle, Woakes pulls it high and handsome over the square leg fence for a maximum. There are two balls left now, Buttler is stranded on 98 at the other end and England need one for 300. Give Buttler the strike, Woakes!
  • 49.3 FOUR! What an innings this has been from Woakes! He gets a full ball on middle, he flicks it over mid-wicket and the ball races away.
  • 49.2 Single! Jos moves onto 98. He flicks it off his pads to get to the other end.
  • 49.1 NOT OUT! Yes, there is an inside edge! Buttler is not robbed of a ton, thanks to technology. Starc bowls a very full ball on off, Buttler tries to reverse sweep but he seems to have missed to get hit on the pads. Starc appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Buttler straightaway reviews. Replays roll in and it shows there is bat involved. The on-field call has to be overturned. 5 balls remain for him to get his hundred now.
  • Hwzzat? The question has been asked for LBW, Buttler is the man in question. The umpire raises his finger and Jos opts to review straightaway. Only an inside edge can save him there.
  • 48.6 FOUR! Makes full use of the Free Hit! Short on the stumps, Woakes tries to pull but gets a top edge over the keeper for another boundary. 24 runs from the over, a huge one, 300 looks very possible now. 288/6
  • 48.6 NO BALL! This is getting better for England! Cummins crumbling under pressure. He bowls a high full toss on middle, Buttler mistimes it towards square leg for a run. The square leg umpire signals a no ball. Free Hit coming up.
  • 48.5 FOUR! What an over this is turning out to be! Another short ball on middle, Buttler pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary. He moves onto 96, just four runs away.
  • 48.4 SIX! 300 on the cards here? A full ball on leg stump, Buttler sends it sailing over the long on fence for another biggie.
  • 48.3 Another bouncer which bounces way above the batsman's head. Umpire signals a wide.
  • 48.3 SIX! Ho, ho, ho! That has been hit with a lot of power. Buttler positions himself for the pull shot early. Cummins bowls it.
  • 48.2 Confusion again, but no harm done! Buttler goes for the paddle, he mistimes it though, towards the keeper. Woakes sets off for a run but Buttler is not aware about where the ball is and he refuses for a run as he dives to get back in the crease. Paine fires a throw to try and run Buttler out but misses and the ball hits the bat of Buttler and rolls towards mid-wicket. Woakes was a long way down and would have been a goner had the ball gone to the bowler.
  • 48.1 The batsman plays a pull shot to this short delivery. One run added to the total.
  • 47.6 Another yorker outside leg, Buttler makes room and tries to jam it out but misses. 264/6
  • 47.5 FOUR! WOW! This guy has strong wrists! Nothing bad with the delivery there. Star bowls it full on middle, Buttler takes his front leg out of the way and hits it straight over mid off for a boundary.
  • 47.4 FOUR! Excellent effort in the field but to no avail! Starc bowls it short on middle, Buttler expected it and is in position early. He pulls it through mid-wicket and the ball beats the diving fielder. For a second it looked like he stopped it but replays show he did not get a hand to it.
  • 47.3 Another slower ball bouncer! Buttler tries to pull but does not connect. Tried to go too hard at the ball there.
  • 47.2 Has that carried? Not sure! Starc bowls it fuller on middle, Buttler hits it uppishly towards long on. Zampa there, runs in and puts in a dive forward but the ball seems to have fallen just short of him. Two taken there.
  • 47.1 A yorker on off, Buttler digs it out to point.
  • Mitchell Starc back on.
  • 46.6 Slower short ball on middle, Woakes gets a bottom edge to the keeper. 254/6
  • 46.5 The batsman plays a pull shot to this short delivery. One run added to the total.
  • 46.4 Excellent shot! How has he got that behind point? Jos picks his spot to perfection though. There is only one man on the off side at deep cover. Buttler makes room. Cummins follows him by bowls it full. Buttler somehow, manages to open his wrists and drives it through cover-point for a brace.
  • 46.3 Slower short ball outside off, Buttler tries to cut but misses.
  • 46.2 Short again, Woakes tucks it around the corner for a run.
  • 46.1 SIX! BRUTE! That made an excellent sound as it left the bat. Short ball outside off, Woakes stands tall and pulls it over mid-wicket for a biggie. 2 in the last two balls.
  • 45.6 SIX! BOOM BOOM GOES JOS! Stand and deliver stuff! A length ball by Hazlewood around off, Buttler lofts it over mid off and it goes all the way. He moves onto 67 and the last ball spoils the over. 244/6
  • 45.5 A direct hit needed... but misses! Another chance goes abegging! Hazlewood lands it on a length around off, Buttler misses the flick and the ball hits him high on the pads. The ball goes towards point. Woakes wants a run, Buttler hesitates and then finally says no. Chris is halfway down the pitch and now he turns back to make his ground. • 45.2 Fuller on middle, Buttler whips it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 45.1 On a length around off, shaping back in. Buttler guides it to point.
  • 44.6 FOUR! Top class! Full on middle, Woakes, with a straight bat, lofts it over the bowler's head for a boundary. 10 runs from the over. 236/6
  • 44.5 On a length around middle, Woakes tries to flick but closes his bat face early. He gets a soft leading edge to covers.
  • 44.4 A short delivery which has been pulled away. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 44.4 Wide! Down the leg side, Buttler misses the flick and the umpire signals a wide. Had he got a bat to that, it would have resulted in a boundary.
  • 44.3 Slower ball outside off, Buttler tries to use his wrists and flick it through mid-wicket but is beaten by the low bounce.
  • 44.2 On a length around off, defended.
  • 44.1 FOUR! Excellent! Super innovation by Buttler. He plays this shot to great effect. Expecting a length ball, Jos walks across and paddle sweeps it over the keeper for a boundary.
  • Pat Cummins comes back.
  • 43.6 On a length on middle, flicked uppishly over mid-wicket for a brace. 226/6
  • 43.5 Back of a length on off, pushed through point for a run.
  • 43.4 The batsman fails to get bat on that one and is hit on the pad. One run added to the total. Leg bye given by the umpire.
  • 43.3 Shorter in length on middle, pulled down to deep square leg for a single.
  • 43.2 On a length around off, Woakes tries to drive it on the up. Not an easy pitch to do so as the ball takes the inside edge which goes close past the leg stump for a run.
  • 43.1 On the off stump, Buttler walks across and tries to flick. He misses to get hit high on the pads. The ball rolls on the off side and the batsmen run through for a leg bye. Hazlewood flicks it onto the stumps at the non-striker's end but the batsmen is well in.
  • Josh Hazlewood is brought back.
  • 42.6 A single to finish! 6 from the over! Short and outside off, Woakes rocks back and lofts it over covers for two. 219/6
  • 42.5 The batsman has driven it through mid on. One run added to the total.
  • 42.4 Flatter on off, Woakes guides it to short third man for a run.
  • 42.3 Gives it air, bowls the googly on off. Woakes tries to loft it over covers but does not connect. Good bowling by Zampa, that just did not spin back enough.
  • 42.2 The googly on off, Buttler reads it well and taps it towards point. The fielder there is on his heels and the batsmen take a run.
  • 42.1 Floats it up on off, drives it uppishly through mid off for a single. The partnership between the two now is 25 from 24 balls.
  • 41.6 A full toss to finish the over. Woakes is surprised as he drives it down to long on for a run. 213/6
  • 41.5 FOUR! Woakes is a really good timer of a cricket ball! Starc persists with a fuller ball on off, Woakes drives it uppishly over covers and the ball races away.
  • 41.4 Looks like a slower ball but the speed gun shows 140 Kph. It holds in the surface. Woakes tries to pull but is beaten by the low bounce.
  • 41.3 Very full on middle, flicked to mid-wicket.
  • 41.2 On a length on off, defended.
  • 41.1 Edged but runs! Starc continues bowling the yorkers, outside off this time. Woakes tries to dig it out but gets an outside edge, down towards third man for a couple. Josh Hazlewood was really fine there or it would have been a boundary.
  • 40.6 Loopy ball on off, pushed towards sweeper cover to keep strike. 6 runs from the over by Zampa. 206/6
  • 40.5 Floats it up on off, driven through covers for another run.
  • 40.4 Slower through the air on off, Woakes plays it really well, as he paddles it to fine leg for a run.
  • 40.3 Tosses it up on off, Woakes drives it through covers for a brace.
  • 40.2 Flatter on middle, Woakes defends it off the back foot.
  • 40.1 Fifty for Buttler, his 15th in this format and 4th against Australia. He has played really well out there, not easy on this wicket. He pushes the tossed up delivery through covers to get to that milestone. He raises his bat to acknowledge the applause from the crowd. Need to make it big though.
  • Powerplay 3 has been signaled. Now a maximum of 5 fielders can be placed outside the circle. Also, Zampa is back into the attack.
  • 39.6 Another brilliant yorker outside off, Woakes fails to put bat on it. 200/6
  • 39.5 Works it with the angle, through mid-wicket for a run. The fielder scores a direct hit at the striker's end and there is a chance for an overthrow but Buttler does not take it.
  • 39.4 Fuller outside off, Buttler square drives it for a couple.
  • 39.3 A yorker, Woakes is ready for it as he jams it out towards third man for a run.
  • 39.2 Excellent comeback! Starc bowls it short outside off, it straightens a touch also rises off the surface. Woakes tries to defend but gets beaten. Good bowling, this is how Starc gets most of the right-handers. He angles it on off and then straightens it for the edge from around the wicket.
  • 39.1 FOUR! Welcome back Starc! He bowls it on the pads, Woakes just time it through mid-wicket and the ball races away. Stoinis makes good ground to his left, dives but in vain.
  • Mitchell Starc is back.
  • 38.6 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. 192/6
  • 38.5 Full on off, drives it to mid off for a run.
  • 38.4 Walks across and works it around the corner for a run.
  • 38.3 Fuller on off, driven down to long off for a run.
  • 38.2 Back of a length on off, defended.
  • Chris Woakes strides out to the middle.
  • 38.1 OUT! Drags it on! The second batsman to do so. The dropped chance does not cost Australia a lot. Marsh gets his man. He bowls it a touch short outside off, not very short though. Ali goes for the pull but gets a bottom edge which kisses the off pole. Ali walks back and his struggle comes an end. He never got used to the pace of the pitch. Poor by the left-hander, England needed him to stay out there with Buttler. Australia though won't mind as they have two quick wickets and they are right on top here. Another low score for Ali, it is turning out to be a forgetful tour for him with the bat.
  • 37.6 An easy single to end the over! Fuller on off, driven down to long off for a run. 189/5
  • 37.5 Walks across and flicks it through mid-wicket for a single.

  • Marcus Stoinis is back on.
  • 36.6 Fullish on off, driven to mid off. 182/5
  • 36.5 Better! He lands it on a length around middle, pushed towards mid on for a run.
  • 36.5 Another ball down the leg side and the umpire stretches his hands out.
  • 36.5 Buttler walks across, Marsh tries to wrap him on the pads. He errs in line though and bowls a wide down the leg side.
  • 36.4 Length on off, guided down to third man for a single.
  • 36.3 Back of a length on off, guided to point.
  • 36.2 On the pads, worked around the corner for a run.
  • 36.1 High in the air... dropped! Poor by White, this is basic catching practice. The bowling change almost does the trick. Marsh bangs it short on middle, Ali goes for the pull but top edges it towards the cover fielder. Cameron there, is struggling as he tries to get under the ball, he finally gets under it but spills it. Another drop by an Australian, they have been poor with their catching today. In the meantime the batsmen take a run.
  • Mitchell Marsh is back into the attack.
  • 35.6 Another full ball on off, Moeen mistimes his drive to mid-wicket for a run. 176/5
  • 35.5 Slower ball on off, driven through covers for a run.
  • 35.4 Almost another one there! Cummins bangs it on off, Buttler guides it uppishly but it bounces just ahead of point. Smith there takes it on the bounce and has a needless shy at the non-striker's end but misses.
  • 35.3 Short and on middle, Moeen is up for the challenge as he pulls it through square leg for a run.
  • 35.2 On a length around off, defended solidly.
  • 35.1 Fuller on off, driven down towards mid off for a run.
  • Moeen Ali walks out to the middle.
  • 34.6 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Hazlewood gets the breakthrough. A much-needed one for Australia. He lands it on a length around off, makes use of the angle as he gets it away from the batsman. Morgan does not need to play at those but he still does so. He tries to guide it down to third man but gets a faint outside edge to the keeper who takes it and appeals. Eoin walks straightaway and Josh is pumped. The 65-run stand has been broken and Morgan walks back dejected, 9 short of his half ton. A good innings by the English skipper, he rode his luck but could not make it big. Nevertheless, Australia will now try and capitalize. 172/5
  • 34.5 On a length around off, Buttler guides it to point for a run.
  • 34.4 On a length around off, Buttler tries to thwack it but gets an inside edge towards fine leg. Some good running gives them two.
  • 34.3 FOUR! Well hit! Buttler came at Hazlewood there, he forced him to drop it short and then pulled it through backward square leg for a boundary. That was easy for Buttler as the ball came at him at a nice pace.
  • 34.2 On a length around off, defended solidly.
  • 34.1 Fuller on middle, Morgan drives it down to long off for a quick run.
  • 33.6 Back of a length on off, defended towards point. 164/4
  • 33.5 On the stumps, worked to mid on.
  • 33.4 Another cross-seamer on a wicket which is slow, on the shorter side and angling into the batsman. Morgan tries to flick but it goes off the pads towards point for a single. Runs given, there might be an inside edge.
  • 33.3 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 33.2 Good running! On a length around off, Buttler taps it towards covers and sets off for a run. The fielder from covers runs towards it and has a shy but misses. This is good by the batsmen, rotating the strike is very important.
  • 33.1 Dances down the track, Cummins bangs it short on middle, Eoin pulls it down towards square leg for a run.
  • 32.6 Nicely timed! Full outside off, Morgan just leans into it and drives it through covers. The ball is racing along the turf. Warner in the deep runs to his left, puts in a dive and stops it. He saves a run for his side, had it been any other fielder, he may have struggled to get there. Excellent by David. 161/4
  • 32.5 Short and outside off, offers width. Morgan mistimes it to covers. Maybe this was mistimed due to the slowness of the wicket.
  • 32.4 On a length around middle, Morgan prods forward and defends.
  • 32.3 Outside off, guided down to third man for a run.
  • 32.2 Comes down the track and slashes at the wide ball outside off, down to sweeper cover for a run.
  • 32.1 Shorter in length on middle, Jos pulls it through square leg for a run.
  • Josh Hazlewood is back into the attack.
  • 31.6 On the leg stump, cramping the batsman for room. Morgan tucks it to mid-wicket. 155/4
  • 31.5 Short and wide outside off, angling away. Morgan thinks about a pull but then bails out. Good he did not play it as dragging a pull shot is never easy.
  • 31.4 Shorter in length, aimed at the body of the batsman. Morgan defends it.
  • 31.3 Back of a length on off, Jos Buttler taps it towards point for a run.
  • 31.2 On a length outside off, Buttler goes after it with minimal foot movement but gets beaten. Easy there Jos, you need not go after such deliveries, especially just after the drinks break.
  • Mitchell Starc is off the field, maybe for a change of shirt and Richardson is on for him.
  • 31.1 Short and wide outside off, Morgan cannot cash in on the width offered as he cuts it to deep point for a run.
  • Pat Cummins is back into the attack.
  • Drinks! So, after the wicket of Joe Root, Morgan and Buttler have steadied the ship. They have gotten their eye in and are now looking to score quickly. Australia on the other hand, have been a little too short in the last few overs. They have also been a little lazy in the field as they have put down Morgan twice. They need to prise one of these two quickly or they could be chasing a big total on a pitch which is getting slower as the game progresses.
  • 30.6 Shorter outside off, Jos evades it. A good phase here for England, they have scored 28 runs in the last four. 153/4
  • 30.5 Another attempt of a yorker but serves a high full toss. Morgan can't get it away as he drives it through covers for a run.
  • 30.4 Very full on off, looking for the yorker. He misses it by little and is driven through covers for a couple.
  • 30.3 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • 30.2 Back of a length on off, guided towards point. Morgan thinks about a single but is sent back.
  • 30.1 On a length around off, defended off the front foot towards cover for a run.
  • Mitchell Starc is back on.
  • 29.6 Slower bouncer on middle, Buttler picks it early, he pulls it with disdain but on the bounce to the fielder for a run. 9 runs from the over and England are looking to get a move on here. 149/4
  • 29.5 Buttler is now oozing in confidence, you can say by the way he walking at the bowlers. He shimmies down and defends it.
  • 29.4 On the pads, worked through square leg for a run. Good batting, they have got a boundary in this over and now they are picking the singles.
  • 29.3 Back of a length on off, defended.
  • 29.2 SIX! All the way! What a shot by the English skipper! He loves making use of his feet to the fast bowlers and he does so. Stoinis bangs it in short on middle, Morgan is no position whatsoever to pull it but continues with it. He hits it off the middle and it goes sailing over the mid-wicket fence. Will this get him going? England will surely hope.
  • 29.1 Just behind a length on off, Buttler walks across and pulls it down to fine leg for a single.
  • 28.6 Very full on off, driven down to long off to keep strike. 140/4
  • 28.5 Shorter in length outside off, cut towards point for a run.
  • 28.4 Drags his length back on middle, tries to bowl a similar delivery to the one Morgan was dropped on. Eoin this time goes onto the back foot and pulls it uppishly but well over the short mid-wicket fielder for a couple.
  • 28.3 Floats it up on off, Jos drives it through covers for a run.
  • 28.2 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 28.1 Gives it air on off, Buttler drives it through covers for a brace.
  • 27.6 The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. One run added to the total. 133/4
  • They have gone upstairs to check whether it has gone all the way. It seems like it has.
  • 27.5 SIX! BANG! The first of the game! Full on the stumps, right where Buttler like it. He takes the aerial route on mid on. It seems to have gone all the way. They go upstairs to check and yes, it has. A maximum. He tries this in the previous ball but could not get the elevation. He gets both the elevation as well as the distance on this. It should get him going now.
  • 27.4 JUST SHORT! Buttler tries to get things going as he hits this full ball, uppishly towards mid off. It falls just short of him. He misfields but no runs conceded.
  • 27.3 Length on off, Buttler defends it.
  • 27.2 Works it around the corner for a run.
  • 27.1 Again! Morgan is living dangerously here! Stoinis bowls it full on middle, Morgan closes the face of his bat early as he gets a leading edge which lands short of mid off.
  • 26.6 DROPPED! Morgan has lady luck on his side today! An inside edge first, then dropped by Starc and now dropped by Smith! Zampa gets a short ball on middle, Morgan rocks back and pulls it firmly but uppishly towards short mid-wicket. Smith there dives to his left, gets two hands to it but can't hang on. He is disappointed with himself. Another let off for Eoin, how costly will this prove? 125/4
  • 26.5 Better! He tosses it up on off, Jos eases it down to long off to rotate strike.
  • 26.4 Zampa needs to toss it up! He is bowling it short right now as it is too easy for Morgan who rocks back and punches it down to long on for a run.
  • 26.3 Drags his length back on off, pushed down to long off, off the back foot for a run.
  • 26.2 Plays the reverse sweep and in the gap towards point for a couple.
  • 26.1 A full toss, Morgan goes down early in an attempt to paddle and he does so towards fine leg for a run. Had he waited and not played a predetermined shot, he could have got more runs from that delivery.
  • Adam Zampa is brought back into the attack.
  • 25.6 On a length attacking the stumps. Buttler defends it. A tight over by Marcus. Just 2 from it. 118/4
  • 25.5 Good length on off, angles it away. This line has caused Morgan a lot of problems in the past. He does not play this convincingly either as he gets an outside edge down towards third man for a run.
  • 25.4 Drags his length back and bowls a bumper on middle. Buttler pulls it along the ground, to deep square leg for a run.
  • 25.3 Just ahead of a length, gets it to tail back into the batsman a little late. Buttler tries to keep it out but gets an inside edge to mid-wicket.
  • 25.2 Fuller in length on off, a little too full. Jos drives it to mid off.
  • 25.1 He lands it on a length around off, good line and length to start with. Buttler defends it by lunging forward.
  • Marcus Stoinis is back on. He has a wicket to his name. Can he pick up one more?
  • 24.6 Defended off the back foot by the batsman. 116/4
  • 24.5 Outside off, quietly left alone.
  • 24.4 Driven through the covers by the batsman. They manage to come back for the second.
  • 24.3 Top edge now! A short ball on middle, Buttler goes for the pull but gets a top edge which does not carry to long leg. Just a single.
  • 24.2 FOUR! MAJESTIC! Full and outside off, Buttler threads the gap through the covers this time and gets a boundary!
  • 24.1 Full and outside off, driven through the covers where Mitchell Marsh dives to his right and stops the ball.
  • 23.6 Around off, defended to the off side. 109/4
  • 23.5 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot.
  • 23.4 A sharp bouncer around off, coming in, Morgan sways away.
  • 23.3 Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
  • 23.2 Around off, defended watchfully.
  • 23.1 Full and outside off, driven through the covers for a single.
  • 22.6 Played to the point region by the batsman. They pick up a single. 108/4
  • 22.5 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 22.4 Around off, defended back to the bowler.
  • 22.3 Outside off, left alone.
  • Jos Buttler walks in at number 6, replacing Root.
  • 22.2 OUT! Chopped on! Don't be surprised if this will be the first of many dismissals in this fashion in this entire game. Hazlewood angles it on a length outside off and Root looks to run it down to third man. Is too close to the ball and gets a thick inside edge onto his stumps. Big wicket for Australia. This is the first time Root has been dismissed in this series.
  • 22.1 Full and outside off, pushed straight to cover.
  • Josh Hazlewood is back on.
  • 21.6 A length ball around off, Morgan hops and defends. 107/3

  • 21.4 Very full, nicely defended.
  • 21.3 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • 21.2 DROPPED! Lazy effort from Starc. Full and outside off, Morgan drives it uppishly back to the bowler but Starc just lazily puts out his right hand. The ball deflects towards mid off off this fingertips.
  • 21.1 Full and outside off, driven through the covers for a single.
  • 20.6 Full and outside off, watchfully defended. 106/3
  • 20.5 Short and outside off, cut straight to point.
  • 20.4 Driven through mid on by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 20.3 Oohhh... goes for another reverse sweep and misses. Tim Paine misses it too and the ball goes right through his legs behind. Mitchell Starc gets to it from short third man as the ball stops in the outfield. Three runs taken and given as runs. Interesting. No bat involved according to the replays.
  • 20.2 FOUR! Full on middle, Morgan gets down and reverse sweeps it through point for a boundary!
  • 20.1 Full on middle, pushed towards long on for a single.
  • 19.6 2 runs. 97/3
  • 19.5 CLOSE! That is as close as it can get. Full and outside off, swinging in, Morgan looks to drive but gets a thickish inside edge, which hits his pads and rolls past the leg stump!
  • 19.4 Very full outside off, some reverse seems to be on offer according to Mark Taylor on air, pushed towards point.
  • 19.3 FOUR! Wrong line from Starc, way too much down the leg side, clipped away to the fine leg fence.
  • 19.2 Full and outside off, driven through the covers for a single.
  • 19.1 On a length outside off, watchfully pushed towards point.
  • Mitchell Starc is back into the attack. He only bowled two overs with the new ball.
  • 18.6 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery. 90/3
  • Skipper Eoin Morgan is in next, at number 5, replacing Bairstow.
  • 18.5 OUT! A typical leg spinner's dismissal! Set up the batsman by tossing up a leggie outside off and then inflate his ego by conceding a boundary. Play on the ego next ball by floating a googly, inviting the drive. Now depending on who is the winner - the batsman's self restraint or the ego - you will be rewarded. On this occasion, Bairstow is unable to resist. Goes after the googly, looking to drive but does not read it at all. Misses it all ends up and the ball spins back in to hit the timber. That will give Zampa's confidence a huge boost. Right from the books of Shane Warne.
  • 18.4 FOUR! Finally gets his boundary! Bairstow has been itching to go over the top for quite a while and gets a wish this time. Tossed up outside off, Bairstow gets underneath it and lofts it over covers for a boundary!
  • 18.3 Full again, driven straight to cover.
  • 18.2 Full and outside off, pushed through the covers for a single.
  • 18.1 Howzzat? Not out. Review? Nope. Zampa is not sure. Very full on middle, looks dead plumb as Root looks to sweep and the ball goes off something towards short fine leg. What is that something? Australia appeal but the umpire stays put. Steven Smith then charges in from short extra cover asking his bowler and keeper for the review but Zampa says, 'No, no, no, no, no.' Replays show why. Root has actually HIT IT. Taken on the full as well.
  • 17.6 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery. 85/2
  • 17.5 Short and outside off, played through point where Steven Smith dives to his right and stops the ball.
  • 17.4 Full and outside off, driven straight to mid off.
  • 17.3 The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. One run added to the total.
  • 17.2 UPPISH, WIDE! Full on middle, Bairstow flicks it through mid-wicket. For a second, Marcus Stoinis thinks he is in with a chance for a catch but the ball goes well wide of him. The batsmen take a couple. Oops... first blemish in the field by Australia as Pat Cummins fumbles and the batsmen pounce on the opportunity to take the third.
  • 17.1 That ball has taken the inside edge of the batsman and thudded into his pads. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • Mitchell Marsh into the attack now.
  • 16.6 The batsman has pushed it to the cover region. One run added to the total. 80/2
  • 16.5 Full and on the stumps, driven straight back to the bowler.
  • 16.4 FOUR! First boundary since the 7th over. Really bad bowling from Zampa, dropping it way too short, on middle, Root just pulls it through mid-wicket and Josh Hazlewood in the deep has no chance running to his left.
  • 16.3 Outside off, punched off the back foot for a run.
  • 16.2 Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 16.1 Full on middle, flicked through mid-wicket.
  • 15.6 Very nicely played. Waits for the ball to come to him and dabs it towards third man. Hares back for the second on the throw. 73/2
  • 15.5 Punched off the back foot by the batsman. One run added to the total.
  • 15.4 The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads for a run.
  • 15.3 Landed outside off, cutting back in sharply, Bairstow is a tad late in picking that and plays it very late towards third man. Gets a bit of a bottom edge.
  • 15.2 Full and outside off, driven straight back to the bowler off the inner half of the bat.
  • 15.1 Outside off, punched towards cover.
  • DRINKS are on the field. The scoring rate might seem to suggest that Australia are on top but in reality, England have played really well. Jason Roy and Alex Hales threw their wickets away, else they could have been 80-odd by now. Nothing much on the pitch, except for its slowness and it will get only slower as the game goes on. Looks like Smith has read the pitch incorrectly.
  • 14.6 Another inside edge, this is squirted through square leg. A run taken. 69/2
  • 14.5 Very full outside off, Jonny looks to blast this out of the park but the ball comes on very slowly off the pitch and goes off the inside edge towards short mid-wicket.
  • 14.4 Full and outside off, Root deftly plays the reverse sweep. David Warner chases it from short third man and gets to the ball with a slide. Root thinks about the second but then denies it.
  • 14.3 A fraction short from Zampa, outside off, punched through point for a single.
  • 14.2 A full toss outside off, driven straight to Steven Smith at short extra cover.
  • 14.1 Landed outside off, Bairstow rocks back to cut but the ball does not turn and he ends up just dabbing it away.
  • 13.6 Uses his feet there, Joe Root, towards Stoinis and places this through cover-point for a couple. 66/2
  • 13.5 Action replay of the previous delivery.
  • 13.4 Around off, clipped straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 13.3 Full and wide outside off, driven towards sweeper cover for a run.
  • 13.2 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • 13.1 Down the leg side, worked fine for a single.
  • 12.6 Full and outside off, eased towards long off for one. Ordinary captaincy from Smith. This was just Zampa's first over but the skipper had men all at the boundary. Seems more intent in curtailing the boundaries rather than keep the field in and give confidence to the bowler by stopping the easy singles. 62/2
  • 12.5 A touch short, punched through the covers for a another single.
  • 12.4 Very full, on middle, pushed back to the bowler. Tim Paine starts to appeal, thinking the ball has hit the boot enroute Zampa but it clearly bounced.
  • 12.3 This is slower through the air, pushed through the covers for one more.
  • 12.2 Very full and wide outside off, driven through the covers for a run.
  • 12.1 Floated on middle, pushed towards long on for a single.
  • Here is spin. Pretty early. Adam Zampa is here.
  • 11.6 Outside off, pushed to the off side. 57/2
  • 11.5 Another brilliant stop! Pat Cummins, you beauty. JB pulls this short ball through square leg and the ball races away, but Cummins races to his left and dives full length, albeit prematurely. Manages to get his left hand to the ball and parries it to Aaron Finch running across from mid-wicket. Two runs taken.
  • 11.4 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 11.3 Full and outside off, pushed through the covers where another good stop near the boundary saves a run. The Aussies have been intense so far on the field.
  • 11.2 Short and outside off, Jonny slashes hard but Steven Smith at point flings himself acrobatically to his left to make a half stop. Himself runs towards the ball before third man can get across. Keeps the batsmen to a single.
  • Uh oh... Stoinis is in trouble. He comes running in but then aborts his runup. He then walks across to the umpire and points to his right eye. By the looks of it, seems like a fly has gone in. Yuck. Pests really like to make home wherever they find some space.
  • 11.1 A length ball outside off, Bairstow slashes but misses.
  • 10.6 Landed outside off, watchfully blocked. 51/2
  • 10.5 Full and outside off, Bairstow plays it with soft hands past short mid-wicket and gets one.
  • 10.4 On middle and off, worked straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 10.3 Full and outside off, driven sweetly through mid off but it is cut off nicely with a slide to the left by the fielder. Just a run.
  • 10.2 Outside off, pretty much full, shouldered arms to.
  • 10.2 WIDE. A short ball down the leg side, Root looks to pull but misses. Cummins appeals for a catch down the leg side but the arm stretches horizontally instead of Cummins' thinking of vertically.
  • 10.1 Full on middle, flicked towards long leg for a single.
  • POWERPLAY 2 time. Four fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle till the 40th over.
  • 9.6 On middle and leg, Root tucks it through square leg for a couple to get off the mark. 3 runs and a wicket from Stoinis' opening over. 47/2
  • 9.5 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • Joe Root walks in now, at number 4, replacing Hales.
  • 9.4 OUT! Hales falls cheaply! Stoinis roars. He has struck in his very first over. A nothing shot from Hales, to be honest. Both he and Roy have just thrown their wickets away. The line is straight and the length is full. For some reason, Hales looks to go over the top and mistimes it. The ball lands straight into the lap of Adam Zampa lapping the ground from mid on to his left. No need of this shot, England were going pretty decently. The frustration of scoring just 1 from 7 balls got to Hales. Replays show the bat twisting in his hand.
  • 9.3 Banged in short, Bairstow swivels to pull but the ball comes on very slowly off the surface and he mistimes it through mid-wicket. A run taken.
  • 9.2 Outside off, punched powerfully on the up past the bowler towards mid off.
  • 9.1 Full and wide outside off, squeezed out towards backward point.
  • Marcus Stoinis into the attack. This pitch might just suit his style of bowling.
  • 8.6 Full and outside off, Bairstow drives it uppishly past the bowler through mid off but David Warner flies to his right and when he makes contact with Mother Earth, the ball is in his hand. Just one. 44/1
  • 8.5 Outside off, no room, watchfully defended. This pitch seems to be very slow. Driving is not that easy.
  • 8.4 Full and just outside off, Alex looks to push it through the off side but the ball goes off the inner half of the bat through mid on. Mitchell Starc gets across from mid on and puts in a tumble to hi left to stop the ball. A run taken. Seems to have hurt his elbow.
  • 8.3 Good length, outside off, Hales looks to punch it on the up through the off side but the feet do not move and the result is a bottom edge towards mid off.
  • 8.2 Very full, just outside off, dug out to the off side.
  • 8.1 Outside off, Bairstow looks to punch it through the off side but gets a thickish inside edge through square leg. Takes the single.
  • 7.6 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot but finds short mid-wicket. 41/1
  • 7.5 Outside off, punched towards cover.
  • 7.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 7.3 On a length outside off, watchfully blocked to the off side.
  • 7.2 Excellent timing, terrific fielding and wonderful running! Good cricket all around. The only thing bad about this was the line of the ball, down the leg side. Bairstow flicked it through square leg and once the ball made contact with the turf, it sped away like a bullet train towards the boundary. Pat Cummins from long leg started to jog initially but then, to keep up with the bullet train, he put in the hard yards and just about got to the ball with a desperate dive to his left, near the ropes. Hauled it in and the batsmen took three.
  • 7.1 Full and outside off, driven straight to cover.
  • Alex Hales walks in at number 3, replacing Roy.
  • 6.6 OUT! The extra ball fetches a wicket for Australia! The dangerous Jason Roy is gone. A length ball outside off, pretty much similar to the ones Roy has been punching and driving so far in this innings, but this time, the opener looks to go over the top. That man at extra cover has been irritating Roy for quite a while now and he feels he has a chance, as a man moved from the off side towards first slip, meaning there was just that small gap. Roy looked to go over the top but Aaron Finch at short extra cover timed his leap to perfection to take the catch. Roy just stands there in disappointment before trudging off. 38/1
  • 6.6 WIDE. Sprays it way down the leg side, Jason is across his stumps and hence misses his tickle. That would have been a boundary.
  • A slip has come in now for the last ball of this Cummins over.
  • 6.5 Full and just outside off, Roy offers a dead bat in defense to the off side.
  • 6.4 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 6.3 Lovely timing. This guy is ready to bed in at the SCG. A length ball outside off, JR punches this beautifully but finds short extra cover.
  • 6.3 ANOTHER WIDE. This is on the shorter side, down the leg side again, Jason misses out on the pull.
  • 6.2 Another cracking shot, to a short ball, but finds Steven Smith at short point who has a pointless shy at the non-striker's end when Bairstow is nowhere short.
  • 6.1 FOUR! Super shot. On a length outside off, Roy gets on top of the bounce and punches it through the covers for a boundary.
  • 6.1 WIDE. Strays down the leg side, Roy misses his flick.
  • 5.6 Short and outside off, Jonny looks to cut but is beaten by the extra bounce. 31/0
  • 5.5 Outside off, steep bounce, pushed towards cover.
  • 5.4 The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads.
  • 5.3 Down the leg side, tickled fine for a run.
  • 5.2 Good run in the end. On a length outside off, Bairstow just dabs at it and gets a bit of a bottom edge. The ball is just beside him but he has no idea as he looks all over the place. Blindly trusts the partner and goes through for the single. Now, the naughty ball trickles back but misses the stumps!
  • No slips now. Everyone saving runs. Looks like a sub-continent wicket. The bowlers are bowling cross-seam.
  • 5.1 Full on middle, driven straight back to the bowler.
  • 4.6 Excellent start from Cummins. A maiden. Outside off, punched straight to cover. 29/0
  • 4.5 Outside off, punched straight to cover-point. Five dots...
  • 4.4 Outside off, on a length, JR feels for it but is beaten as the ball moves away pretty late.
  • 4.3 Uppish... but safe. Full and outside off, Jason pushes it uppishly but it lands short of David Warner at mid off. That ball was bowled at 142 kph, but seemed to come slowly off the pitch. Two-paced? Might not be a bad toss to lose.
  • 4.2 Walks down the track and this time Hazlewood is ready. Bowls a really good short ball, close to the body, Roy looks to tuck it away but misses and is hit on the body. He wants a single but is sent back as the ball is just beside him.
  • 4.1 On a length around off, watchfully defended.
  • A bowling change pretty early. Pat Cummins into the attack. Mark Taylor on air is not too surprised, reckoning that Smith might be saving Starc for the old ball for reverse swing.
  • 3.6 FOUR! BOSH! Full and wide outside off, Bairtsow has no second thought about this one as he leans into it and blasts it uppishly through the covers for a boundary! 12 from the over! 29/0
  • 3.5 A testing bouncer, Jonny thinks about pulling but then bails out.
  • 3.4 Short and outside off, Bairstow punches it past a diving point for a couple.
  • 3.3 Good shot again. Waits for the ball to come to him and guides it to third man past first slip for a run.
  • 3.2 FOUR! Good batting! Roy walks down the track and Hazlewood bowls a Test match length into what would have been an avenue of apprehension for a right-hander playing from his crease. But because the batsman is down the track and across the stumps, he can easily flick it past short fine leg and get a boundary.
  • 3.1 On a length around off, coming in, extra bounce, Bairstow adjusts well and tucks it towards square leg for a single.
  • 2.6 A short ball outside off, pretty quick, 145.4 kph, JR looks to hook but misses. Starc appeals for a catch but no one supports him. Nothing in it. 17/0
  • 2.5 Full and wide outside off, there to be driven, Jason accepts the invitation and drives but mid off is placed a bit wide and the ball goes straight to him.
  • 2.4 FOUR! Excellent timing and the outfield is very generous. Starc drops it a bit shorter than full and Roy just tucks it through mid-wicket. Square leg starts to chase but only finishes second in the race.
  • 2.3 Very full outside off, squeezed straight to cover.
  • 2.3 WIDE. A late call from the umpire and Starc is not amused. A short ball, around leg and outside, Roy swivels to pull but misses. That ball goes past him, outside leg and the umpire, after a long thought, stretches his arms. On closer look, it does seem like the ball flicked Roy's shirt but nothing conclusive.
  • 2.2 The batsman works it down the leg side. One run added to the total.
  • 2.1 A length ball, a bit too straight, Bairstow clips it towards short mid-wicket who dives to his left and parries it to mid on.
  • 1.6 Around off, defended watchfully. 11/0
  • 1.5 Full and outside off, hint of inswing, Jason looks to flick but gets a bit of an inside edge through mid-wicket.
  • Change in the field straightaway. Aaron Finch from second slip is moved to short extra cover.
  • 1.4 FOUR! Beautiful timing. Not a bad delivery, on a length, just outside off, but Roy is equal to it. Punches the ball on the up through the covers, finds the gap and then the boundary.
  • 1.3 On a length outside off, punched back to the bowler.
  • 1.2 The batsman works it down the leg side for a run.
  • 1.1 Outside off, punched off the back foot wide of mid on for a single. Both openers are off the mark now.
  • Josh Hazlewood to bowl with the second new ball.
  • 0.6 On a length around middle, swinging in, Bairstow misses his flick and is hit on the pads. Starc and the slip cordon appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Oh hello... Hawk Eye shows that it would have clipped the top of leg stump. Was not a bad appeal in the end. An indifferent over from Starc. The King of swing was searching for his subject and was not in control at all. 5/0
  • 0.5 Excellent delivery. A surprise bouncer, JB picks it pretty late and sways away at the last moment.
  • 0.4 On middle, pushed straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 0.3 Another one on the pads, swinging down, Jonny misses his flick and is hit.
  • 0.2 Full and wide outside off, driven through point for a couple. Gets off the mark.
  • 0.1 Better line, just around off, fuller in length, pushed towards cover.
  • 0.1 ANOTHER WIDE. Plenty of swing on offer, Starc is unable to control it though. Another one down the leg side, this time Bairstow misses his flick. Paine collects with a dive to his left.
  • 0.1 WIDE. An extra to start. Starc looks for a repeat of his dismissal of Roy in the previous game, a full ball on the pads, but on this occasion, he slips this a bit too much down the leg side and Roy misses his flick. Tim Paine fumbles behind and concedes a run.
  • The players are out in the field with the Men In Yellow swarming the SCG arena. Now come the Men in Blue - England, in this case, opening with Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow. It will be Mitchell Starc vs Jason Roy first up. Here we go....
  • England team changes - Clear-minded and calm. No changes. Confident in their side. England are unchanged.
  • Australian team changes - A plethora. Four, to be precise. As foretold, all the big guns are back for the hosts. Pat Cummins is back from his rest, Josh Hazlewood has recovered from his viral bug, Tim Paine has gotten over his discomfort while Adam Zampa gets picked in the side for this game. Zampa usually plays Ringa-Ringa-Roses with the Aussie selectors. Today, he will be the main spinner. No Travis Head. Dropped, finally. The other exclusions are Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye and Alex Carey.
  • TOSS - Steven Smith has won yet another toss. AUSTRALIA HAVE OPTED TO CHASE this time. He will hope that his team starts to win some games. Tonight will not be a bad time to start.
  • WEATHER - There was no rain prediction for this game and there isn't a sign that it will rain either. Clear skies, without a cloud.
  • The series of do-or-die begins for Australia. With two matches lost, they do not have any other option but to win each of their remaining games. Injuries, rotation, lack of quality, lack of skill, complain whatever - Australia have just not been able to up their standard in limited over games. They were blanked 0-5 in South Africa, did not do too well in the Champions Trophy, beaten black and blue 1-4 in India and here at home, England are whipping them. The hosts have recalled all the strong forces they have for this particular game. Will that change their fortune? Hello and a warm welcome to the third ODI between Australia and England at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Not surprisingly, JOS BUTTLER has been named the Man Of The Match. What next for Australia? Another ODI series gone. Playing for pride remains, with 2 games left. Can they avert a whitewash? Chance 1 will come on Australia Day, 26th January, 2018 in the fourth ODI at the Adelaide Oval, at 1350 local (0320 GMT). Do join us then. In the meanwhile, you can check how Sri Lanka is faring against Zimbabwe in their must-win game. ADIOS! Take Care!
  • How to respond when one of your mates goes down? South Africa showed that twice in a Test - once against Australia and once against India recently when Dale Steyn was out injured. Tonight, England have done it in the absence of Liam Plunkett. They would have been worried with the loss of a bowler but the team combined together well as a unit. Only Joe Root went for runs tonight while the others did really well to share the spoils.
  • Steven Smith edged one behind and after numerous replays, was adjudged caught behind. From some angles it seemed like the ball had bounced. After that, the Aussies started to lose their grip on the game. There was a 74-run stand between Marcus Stoinis and Tim Paine towards the end but the required rate was always getting tougher.
  • Australia actually batted well on a sluggish surface with a lot of intent. David Warner and Cameron White departed early but the 69-run stand between Aaron Finch and Steven Smith got things under track. Finch departed but then the skipper got a handy partnership with junior Marsh. And then, came the controversial moment.
  • A really good win for England, in fact their best of the series. Even though the margin is only 16 runs. It is because they were struggling with the bat around the 40th over and then they were a bowler short. Add to this, Australia were ahead of them throughout the run chase till the 50th over. Kudos to such a performance.
  • 49.6 A short ball on middle, pulled through mid-wicket for another single. The game ends. Sam Billings collects and then roars towards the crowd. England's first bilateral series win in ODIs in Australia! 3-0 up with 2 to go!
  • 49.5 Outside off, slapped towards sweeper cover for only one.
  • 49.4 Outside off, Cummins slashes hard but misses.
  • Pat Cummins comes in, with Australia needing a hat-trick of sixes.
  • 49.3 OUT! Finds the man. It was always going to be too difficult for only one person to do it for Australia and Stoinis has fallen. A short ball, Stoinis pulls it over square leg but finds the substitute Sam Billings in the deep. A calm and cool catch taken. Stoinis is disappointed. They do not even bother to cross.
  • 49.2 On middle, punched down to long on for a couple.
  • 49.1 A short ball outside off, another cutter, Paine mistimes his pull towards long on for a single. 21 needed from 5.
  • 48.6 Full and outside off, driven through the covers and it is only one. 22 needed off the final 6. England scored 24 off Cummins' last, in the 49th. 281/5
  • 48.5 A short ball outside off, Tim looks to pull but misses.
  • 48.4 A short ball down the leg side, pulled through the leg side for a single.
  • 48.3 FOUR! Fifty for Stoinis. Poor guy. Keeps on doing the hard work for nothing. Full and wide outside off, Stoinis reaches out and steers it past short third man. This is his fourth 50-plus score in ODIs, all of them in a losing cause. I mean... this seems to be ending in one as well.
  • 48.2 A length ball outside off, Paine swings hard but gets a bottom edge which goes past the stumps to Jos Buttler. They go through for a quick single and Buttler misses his shy at the striker's end.
  • 48.1 Backs away and punches it through point but straight to the fielder. Only one. 29 needed from 11.
  • Mark Wood to bowl the 49th over.
  • 47.6 Full on middle, smashed down the ground for a couple. 273/5

  • 47.2 Full and outside off, pushed through the covers for a single.
  • 47.1 SIX! He is really strong. A length ball on middle and leg, Stoinis just picks it up and gets it just over the square leg fence! 37 more needed from 17 balls now.
  • Chris Woakes is back on.
  • 46.6 Comes down the track and blasts it towards long off for one. 10-0-51-2 for Rashid. Decent performance again. 260/5
  • 46.5 On middle, Stoinis comes down the track and eases it through mid on for a couple.
  • 46.4 Full and outside off, chipped over covers for only one.
  • 46.3 A short ball on middle, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a couple.
  • 46.2 Very full outside off, Marcus looks to slap this as well but misses. The ball goes off Buttler's pads to short third man and the batsmen take a run. 49 more needed from just 22 balls.
  • 46.1 FOUR! Well played. Short and outside off, Stoinis backs away and punches it over cover and gets a boundary!
  • 45.6 Another short delivery Stoinis pulls it but straight to deep mid-wicket for only a single. 249/5
  • 45.5 Short and wide outside off, MS slashes hard but misses again.
  • 45.4 Full and wide outside off, Marcus backs away, tries to reach it but misses. Cannot put bat on ball. Well inside the wide guidelines.
  • 45.3 A short ball again, Paine heaves it with all his might but the ball does not carry to deep mid-wicket where Sam Billings is substituting for Liam Plunkett. Just a run.
  • 45.2 On a length around off, cutting in, punched through the covers for a single.
  • 45.1 FOUR! A boundary at the start of the over. A short ball outside off, Stoinis just clubs it past mid off and finds the ropes. 57 needed from 29 now...
  • 44.6 Tossed up on middle, Paine gets down to sweep but misses and it goes over the stumps. 242/5
  • 44.5 Full and outside off, driven through the covers for one.
  • 44.4 A short ball on middle, pulled through square leg for a run.
  • 44.3 A short ball on middle, pulled through mid-wicket for a couple.
  • 44.2 Nearly through. Beautifully tossed up outside off, Stoinis jumps down the track, is beaten in flight but somehow manages to put bat on ball. It squirts off the inside edge through mid-wicket. Just a run.
  • 44.1 Full and outside off, Paine drags it with a sweep through square leg for a single.
  • Adil Rashid to bowl now.
  • 43.6 A low full toss outside off, driven through the covers for a run. An excellent over from Wood - just 5 runs from the over. 236/5
  • 43.5 A short ball outside off, Paine comes down the track and swings hard but misses.
  • 43.4 A short ball now, Marcus looks to pull but gets a top edge which does not carry to deep backward square leg. Just a run.
  • 43.3 Outside off, Paine looks to run it down to third man but gets a thick inside edge onto his body. A quick one taken. 69 more needed from 39 balls now.
  • 43.2 A full toss outside off, Stoinis cannot get it away, hitting the ball straight to Eoin Morgan at short extra cover who fumbles but concedes only a run.
  • 43.1 Outside off, punched straight to sweeper cover for a single.
  • Mark Wood is back into the attack. This is crucial, reckons my colleague KingVic. A good spell for either side will seal the game.

  • 3.2 FOUR! Australians are off to a flier here! Finch gets a short ball on his hips. Not where you should be bowling with fine leg up. He pulls it through that region and a boundary result.
  • 3.1 On a length around off, defended.
  • 2.6 Superb fielding! On a length around off, Finch pushes it on the up, through cover-point. There are two fielders giving it a chase. One from point and one from cover-point. • 1.2 Nice shot! Shorter in length around off, Finch pushes it through covers for three. Not sure it will be easy to play these shots once the ball gets a little old.

  • 0.4 Back of a length on off, defended.
  • 0.3 Good length outside off, Warner lets it be.
  • 0.2 PEACH! Wood lands it on a length around off, gets good bounce on that one. Almost similar to the delivery he got Warner out in the first game. This time though, Warner hangs his bat out only to get beaten.
  • 0.1 Back of a length on off, punched through point for a single, to get underway.
  • The players are back out in the middle already! Was that even a break? Anyways, here is Mark Wood to Aaron Finch first up. David Warner is at the other end...
