Zaalima song: With Arijit Singh, SRK and a good melody, this Raees track has makings of a chartbuster
Shah Rukh Khan's next film Raees, has been teasing its viewers with multiple glimpses, and a trailer since the time the film was announced.
Finally, the film's first track, 'Zaalima' is out and it's exactly everything you would expect from an SRK song: there's romance (in a dessert, in a bath, in the house, basically everywhere), there's a catchy hook, a popular vocalist (Arijit Singh, this season's singing sensation) and his signature arms-wide-open step.
This is Mahira Khan's first romantic song with Shah Rukh Khan, and without taking any merit away from her and their chemistry on screen (we'll have to watch the film to make a judgment on that), SRK can pretty much romance anything (in a good way). He has his charm on point in this song, and it's a bit of a redux to all his popular romantic numbers: Sooraj Hua Maddham, Do Dil Mil Rahe Hai, Ho Gaya Hai Tujhko Toh.. and even Gerua.
It's refreshing to see SRK play his age in Raees, and Mahira, thankfully, matches him. They place husband and wife in the film, and the song gives us a glimpse of that. Raees is allegedly a fictional take on Abdul Latif, an underworld figure from Gujarat whose main business was bootlegger for alcohol in the state.
Raees is all set to release on the republic day weekend, 25 January, and will clash with Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil at the box office. Watch the song here:
