Yami Gautam urges people to keep gender out of Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut dispute
After Farhan Akhtar wrote an open letter with regard to the ongoing dispute between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam, too, has chimed in.
Gautam co-starred with Hrithik Roshan in the 2017 film Kaabil and took to Facebook to share her thoughts on the matter. Her post comes right after Roshan mentioned in an interview to CNN News18, that Yami Gautam is one of the other actors, apart from Ranaut, that he has never met "one on one" outside of the film set.
Although she makes it clear at the onset that she is no legal expert, she urges people to not make the issue a gender-based one. "People have presumed that since he is a man, he must be the guilty party, since that is how it has always been. And that's dangerous. Whatever happened to innocent, until proven guilty?," she asks in her post.
Drawing attention to the "media-trial" that has took precedence over facts and objectivity in her opinion, she says any pre-mature judgement and vilification of the man in question will be a "blow to the on-going efforts of getting women an equal standing with the opposite sex."
