The John Abraham, Anil Kapoor starrer Welcome Back saw roaring success at the box-office, similar to the original film Welcome. However, news around the film has re-surfaced again, but for wrong reasons.
Producer Firoz Nadiadwala is yet to pay part of director Anees Bazmee’s remuneration, along with the complete payments of many crew members who worked in Welcome Back.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken a stand against Feroz Nadiadwala and has issued a ‘Non-Cooperation Directives’ against him, with immediate effect (letter attached below)
Bazmee has spoken to Firstpost, where he revealed that Rs 5 crore of his whole remuneration was pending for the longest time.
“I have had exempted Rs 3 crore of total Rs 5 crore due. He promised me to pay the rest Rs 2 crore but I was given two post dated cheques, one of November the other of December (each of Rs 1 crore). At the time of withdrawal, he had issued a stop payment of both the cheques,” said Bazmee.
“There are many workers who are yet to get their dues and they too have lodged their complaints with the Federation against Firoz Nadiadwala,” he adds.
Firoz Nadiadwala was contacted but he remained unavailable for comment till this piece was published.
