Watch: The house is more than full with offensive humour in 'Housefull 3' trailer
Once again, confusion reigns in a Housefull movie. The trailer of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 3 released on Sunday and if it is anything to go by, it seems the movie is going to be as asinine as the first two.
Here what we know on viewing the trailer: Bakul Patel (Boman Irani) is a London millionaire with three daughters (Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon and Jacqueline Fernandez) who are not as traditional as he would like to believe (because they wear short skirts and go clubbing at night).
He is shocked when they reveal to him that they each have a boyfriend – played by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan. For some reason, Patel doesn’t want to let his daughters marry and the three men have to convince him otherwise. Or so it seems from the trailer. Add Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey to the mix and the house is more than full.
The trailer is chock full of references to the differently abled and at one point, a bold text on the screen refers to a wheelchair-bound Akshay as a cripple. His character is also supposed to have a split personality disorder.
All these references are meant to invoke laughter from the audience. It is a thin line between laughing with and laughing at the differently abled. From the trailer it doesn’t seem like the directors Farhad-Sajid (no, Sajid Khan who directed the first two Housefull films, is not at the helm of this one) are successful in straddling this line.
That, coupled with their attempts to make Abhishek’s character funny by including Amitabh Bachchan references, doesn’t spell much hope for the film.
