A virtually unseen short film from the 90s starring (a much younger) Shah Rukh Khan has surfaced online, and suffice it to say that if you're a fan of the superstar, you're in for a treat.
Titled Mahaan Karz, the film is based on a feudal set up, where SRK plays a young, ambitious man who is employed by the local king as a treasurer. The film graphs how vices get the better of him.
The film is directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s theatre friend, Dinesh Lakhanpal, and if the description of the YouTube video is anything to go by, he received a sum of Rs 3,000 for this role. The film was shot in 1991, before his more famous TV appearances in shows like Circus and Fauji. Shah Rukh was merely 25 at the time.
Mahaan Karz was shot by Binod Pradhan, who would go on to work with Shah Rukh in films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Devdas.
