Watch: Mohanlal shakes a leg in popular Jimmiki Kammal song from Velipadinte Pusthakam
Mohanlal's Velipadinte Pusthakam may have received mix reviews from critics, but one aspect of the movie which gained fast popularity is its song 'Jimmiki Kammal'. The makers of the film encouraged Lalettan's fans to recreate it with their friends and family, with their own choreography. Now, Mohanlal has released a video where he can be seen dancing to the song.
In the video of the song, young background dancers enthusiastically shake a leg on the set of the song, where a cutout of Mohanlal has been placed. We also see two struggling actors cribbing about being part of the song and discussing which of the female dancers will spot them. Then Mohanlal himself appears on set, and the frenzied crowd welcomes him.
The superstar rolls up his sleeves and lungi, and dances as enthusiastically as the young background dancers.
A fan-made version of song was brought to the attention of American show host Jimmy Kimmel, whose name shares an uncanny resemblance to the title. He tweeted saying that he had not heard of the song before, but that he loved it once he listened to it.

'Jimikki Kammal' soon became the Onam anthem of the year. Sung by Renjith Unni, it was composed by Shaan Rahman. Velipadinte Pusthakam saw Mohanlal in the role of a newly appointed vice principal of the most popular college in town. The film focused on the character's unorthodox teaching methods and his relationship with students.
