Jimikki Kammal Challenge: Jimmy Kimmel tweets his love for fans' version of Mohanlal's song
It seems like American TV show host Jimmy Kimmel has newfound love for Indian music. He was recently directed by a Twitter follower to a fan-made version of 'Entammede Jimikki Kammal', a popular Malayalam song from Mohanlal's film Velipadinte Pusthakam directed by Lal Jose.
Kimmel, who seemed fascinated by a rather uncanny resemblance to his name in the chorus of the song, tweeted that he loves the video put up by students of Indian School of Commerce answering the #JimikkiKammalChallenge, issued by the makers of Velipadinte Pusthakam. The makers had asked fans of the lead actor of the film, Mohanlal, to shoot and upload their own versions of the peppy dance number.

'Entammede Jimikki Kammal' is composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Renjith Unni. It has emerged as the Onam anthem this year, given its deep-rooted Kerala aesthetic. Here is the Indian School of Commerce's version of the song:
In the film, Mohanlal's character is called Michael Idikkula. Idikkula is the newly appointed vice principal of the most popular college in town. He follows unorthodox teaching methods, and the film chronicles how he brings about changes in the college. The film throws light upon the relationship between Idikkula (often called as 'Dracula' for his unconventional pedagogical techniques) and students.
Velipadinte Pusthakam released on 3 September. While the Malayalam superstar was praised for his acting chops, the film was criticised for being too conscious of his stardom.
