The official trailer for Sonakshi Sinha's film Akira has finally been unveiled. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss and is a remake of the Tamil film Mouna Guru.
In Akira, Sonakshi is shown as a misfit of sorts, a rebel. She moves from her hometown of Jodhpur to Mumbai for her education. Unbeknownst to others in her new city, she is also trying to escape the scars of a disturbing childhood. However, even while she's battling society's attempts to pigeonhole her, Sonakshi's character finds herself in the midst of a more dangerous, and immediate, threat when she is embroiled in a crime.
Faced with the prospect of losing everything she values — including her life and that of her family — she decides to fight back.
Sonakshi has previously said that this is going to be her most action-packed film ever, and the trailer delivers on that promise. We get several glimpses of her gritty, fiery personality in the film.
Both as a truculent new student in a Mumbai college and as a worthy adversary to the bad guys Sonakshi manages to impress. We see her pull off the action choreography flawlessly, and her flying kicks could give Tiger Shroff a serious complex.
A shout out here to Konkona Sen Sharma, as a policewoman investigating the crime, and more importantly, Anurag Kashyap who plays the baddie in Akira.
Akira is scheduled to release this September, and its trailer will be attached to Sultan when it plays in theatres on 6 July, Wednesday.
