'All Eyez On Me' trailer: Tupac Shakur biopic to bring out slain rapper's 'real story'
Had Tupac Shakur lived, 16 June 2016 would have marked his 45th birthday.
The rapper's murder in 1996 made headlines all over the world and the whole music industry mourned the loss of this phenomenal talent. Now, a biopic All Eyez on Me aims to bring the focus back to the life and music of Tupac.
The new teaser trailer for All Eyez on Me was released just in time for his birthday, on the Instagram account of radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood. It showcases a voiceover from Danai Gurira (of The Walking Dead fame) who plays Tupac's mother Afeni in the upcoming biopic.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp, Jr stars in the film the young rap icon. The teaser also introduces Dominic L Satana as Suge Knight and recording artist Maino as Walter “King Tut” Johnson. The title of the movie is is taken from Shakur’s fourth studio album, which was released in early 1996. A somber rendition of Tupac's "Ambition Az A Ridah" plays in the background of the trailer .
Shipp — as Tupac — at the end of the trailer leaves us with these words: “If they kill me, I want the people to know the real story”. It seems that All Eyez On Me will help bring to the fore just that.
