Tubelight may not have caused more than a spark at the box office, but fans of Salman Khan have one thing they can still look forward to: the making of Goga Pasha, Shah Rukh Khan's cameo in the film.
Moviegoers were elated to know that Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan would be seen together on screen after many years, even if SRK's role was limited to one scene. His Goga Pasha is a magician, and much like the magician in Little Boy, the film Tubelight is based on, he too instills a sense of self-belief and faith in Salman Khan's Laxman Singh Bisht.
Director Kabir Khan explained that Shah Rukh Khan was required for the role because whoever starred as Goga Pasha needed to command the audience's attention. He said that Salman agreed with him, and that the shoot was made easier because of SRK's disposition and his equation with Salman. Kabir mentioned that he has known the Raees actor since college, adding that he studied from SRK's notes as he was a senior.
Tubelight was not received well by critics because of the film's story line and Khan's acting, and fans were disappointed because this film required Salman Khan to step out of his typical macho avatar to be able to essay the role of a misfit with a developmental disorder. The film managed to earn Rs 114.50 after 15 days of its release, as per an Indian Express report.
Tubelight also starred late veteran actor Om Puri, Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and child actor Matin Rey Tangu.
