The Handmaid's Tale season two teaser reveals 25 April premiere date while severely unsettling the viewer
The unsettling, borderline disturbing teaser of Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale's season two was unveiled on 8 March which coincidentally (or not) was International Women's Day.
The thirty second teaser left the viewer with several questions, however it did answer one of the audience's long standing inquiries by finally revealing the show's premiere date — 25 April.
With a bone-chilling voice over and (mostly red) vivid imagery, the teaser leaves a grimy taste in ones mouth. Offred’s pregnancy forms the central plot for season two, as she tries to rescue her child from the atrocities of Gilead. Elisabeth Moss's voice can be heard exclaiming the words, "Seriously, What the actual f–?” and that's all the viewer needs to push to them over the edge in this nail-biting series. The final shot sees Offred covered in blood that does not appear to be her own. The background score of the teaser does nothing to dispel the tense, frankly frightening atmosphere that is being built by the on screen visuals.
The Handmaid's Tale first aired on 26 April 2017 and went on to bag the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Television Series this year. Elizabeth Moss also took home the Best Actress in a Drama Television Series award.
The shows also stars Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes, Alexis Bledel and Yvonne Strahovski.
