Telugu actress accuses director Chalapathi, actor Srujan of rape attempt; incident allegedly took place in moving car
At the heels of the abduction and molestation of Malayalam actress, another incident has shocked the southern film industry. A Telugu actress has alleged rape attempt by director Chalapathi and actor Srujan in a moving car.
According to a report by Times of India, the actress had filed a police complaint at Patamala police station, Vijaywada on the eve of Independence Day, 15 August. The complaint states that the actress was taken in a car by both the accused on a false excuse of going for a shoot in Bheemavaram. They allegedly tried to rape her, on the way, in the car.
The actress spoke to the media right after filing the complaint, as reported by International Business Times, and said,"I was supposed to be Bheemavaram on 13 August and I was planning to travel from Hyderabad by train. But the director and the hero forced me to travel in my car. They started misbehaving with me, as we approached Vijayawada. They assaulted me and threw me in the backseat when I protested."
Elaborating more on the assault, she added, "To ensure that I don't jump out of the car, they drove fast, but ended up smashing my vehicle against a lorry. That same night, I shared my location with some friends, who rushed here immediately. Following that, I have come to the police station to file a complaint."
The police have registered a case, post her lodging the complaint. The accused duo have been charged with IPC Section 279 for rash driving and damaging a woman's vehicle.
While Chalapathi has been arrested, Srujan is still missing.
