Sunny Leone's debut Tamil period war drama Veeramadevi goes on floor in Chennai;
Sunny Leone's debut Tamil film Veeramadevi, a period war drama, started rolling in Chennai on Wednesday with a formal puja. The movie will see Leone essay the titular role of a warrior princess who lived in the south decades ago. Directed by VC Vadivudaiyan and produced by Ponse Stephen under the banner Steeves Corner, Veeramadevi will also release in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
The pre-production work, which involved the construction of exquisite set pieces for the project, has been completed and the principal schedule has commenced on Wednesday in Chennai. Although Leone had made a special appearance in a song in 2014 Tamil comedy thriller Vadacurry, Veeramadevi marks her debut in K'town as a lead heroine.
Leone has allotted 150 days call sheet for this ambitious project, for which she has undergone special training in martial arts, sword fighting and horse riding for the past few weeks to prep for the role. A special trainer from Mumbai has worked closely with Leone to prepare her for the character.
Composer Amrish Ganesh, known for his work in Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva, has been signed to score the music for the project. Actor Navdeep plays the villain role in the film which reportedly has nearly 70 minutes of CG sequences. Veteran actor Nasser also plays an important role in the movie.
“I have always liked doing action sequences. I was waiting for a script like this for a long time. I started preparing for this movie from the minute director V C Vadivudayan narrated me the story. I have a special love towards south India. I have a lot of my fans here, especially Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. My character is extremely strong and I think if there is any representation of woman I would love to play, it's Veeramadevi. She is very determined and an independent woman," Sunny had said about her role earlier.
