Soundarya Rajinikanth's divorce from R Ashwin granted by Chennai court, ending 7-year marriage
Superstar Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya officially ended her marriage of seven years with entrepreneur R Ashwin, after a Chennai family court passed an order for judicial separation on 4 July , according to a Times of India report.
The separation was formalised by Maria Clatta, the principal family court judge, TOI reported. Soundarya and Ashwin filed for divorce in December 2016 and were reportedly living separately while the divorce proceedings were on. Since the separated couple couldn't reconcile, the court ordered an official termination of their marital relationship.
The report stated that the proceedings went off smoothly as the divorce was filed as a mutual decision. However, the terms and conditions of the settlement including the the custodial details of their two-year-old son Ved are still unknown.
Soundarya, the younger daughter of Rajinikanth and Latha, married Chennai-based businessman R Ashwin on 3 September 2010. After over six years, Soundarya took to Twitter to announce that the marriage had ended.

Soundarya began her career in film industry as a graphic designer in Sivaji, Chennai 600028 and Sandakozhi. She made her directorial debut with Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan in 2014, which also featured Deepika Padukone. Currently she is busy with promotions of her upcoming film Velai Illa Pattadhaari 2 or VIP 2 that is slated to release on 28 July. VIP 2 features Soundarya's brother-in-law Dhanush, along with Kajol who plays the antagonist.
